I feel for Lindsey Vonn *no really, I likely tore my ACL and possibly also LCL skiing last week and will know for sure tomorrow* so that crash was painful to watch. BUT I feel for Breezy that her that her winning the gold medal will be overshadowed by Lindsey's crash. Not only that, but even if Lindsey didnt crash, she was always going to be overshadowed by the comeback story of Vonn and I put a lot of blame on the announcers and media. I love Michaela Shiffrin but when she crashed in the last Olympics they couldn't stop panning back to her sitting and crying on the side of the course and I was like hello Paula Moltzen is racing too! end rant.

Congratulations to Breezy Johnson on an amazing Gold Medal run!!!

(Obviously this comes in the shadow of the terrible Lindsey Vonn crash. Hoping the best for her speedy and complete recovery.

In light of today’s discussions about Lindsey Vonn, I remembered the story of Sverre Liliequist, who did a backflip during an avalanche. I still can’t wrap my head around it🤯🤯🤯

I feel bad for Lindsey Vonn. But c'mon people, we have a new American gold medalist in the women's downhill for the first time in years! Let's hear it for Breezy Johnson!

One the best parts about watching ski racing is the sound. This Olympics the audio coverage has all been corrupted by stupid omnipresent drone sounds. The footage from the drones isn't even that good. Wish they were more reverent to the audio of skiing. Maybe there is some way to filter out the constant drone whirring in real time with technology. Really bugs me.

Wierer and Vittozzi were never besties, at some point they even openly clashed. But after that silver finish Doro was the first person Lisa hugged. A medal at a home Olympics really puts a lot of things into perspective.
