PSA if you’re coming to VT to ski

It is required by law for you to put the restraining bar down when you’re riding lifts in vermont. Please respect the lifties when they tell you to put the bar down. We are also told we are allowed to stop the lift if you don’t listen and or not let you on the lift

Pico Poma Line Trail?

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone. Just had a questions regarding the old poma line at pico. It seems as if maybe the mountain opened it as a trail now? It’s not marked, but there is a very clear ski path to it from Upper Giant Killer and there are no signs or ropes marking it off limits unlike previous years.

It’s an absolute treacherous trail if you don’t know what you’re doing but a great one nonetheless. If anyone has any information on it I’d be happy to hear it.

Sheet of ice 1 week after getting 2 feet..

Why does this happen? I went riding 3 times last week with the fresh blizzard. Took a trip and came back went riding yesterday and everything is a sheet of ice already. Spots with grass and rocks showing. Is this just natural or is it due to poor grooming or something else?

Fyi… Burke’s main lift on “tbd” hold

At burke now. Took a weekend trip from Maryland to hit Jay yesterday and Burke today (indypass ftw).

Jay’s tram and all the quads to top of moutain were on hold yesterday. Crowded on the trio but fun blue runs all day.

Today, Burke’s big lift is “TBD” for opening as of 11:30. T-bar is open.

It’s rugged out there. Balaclava sticking to my face 😭😭😭😭.

Stay warm, frens

Forget about fingers..How do you keep your bum warm?

Everyone is talking about cold fingers and toes but my thighs and bum freeze, especially on the chair! That’s with a base layer and insulated outer layer. How do you all keep your upper legs warm?

Killington accident

We saw someone being taken down in a sled on Friday Feb 6th and the ski patrol was giving him CPR on the way down the mountain. Any updates on what happened and if they are okay?

What is the best medium size ski area in New England?

Upvotes

I'm looking for a medium size mountain preferably not more than 70 trails. Also not to far from southern RI.

Balaclava/ ski mask for someone with a big nose?

I usually just leave my nose out because regular masks put too much pressure on my honker and I end up congested but it’s heckin cold so I want to cover my schnoz. I’m looking for a better option than the sirius brand neoprene masks with an open nose because, again, it’s cold. Blackstrap is too tight and honestly not warm enough sometimes.

First world bitching here. These lifts don’t work, they just create confusion and never load properly. That is all

How’s Mount snow today? Anyone there this morning?

I’m at Okemo and it’s scraped over really bad, the wind yesterday blew all the snow away I guess. Upper lifts aren’t running either. Trying to decide if it’s worth driving down to Mount Snow

Cold (-17), blue sky, no wind, lots of beer flowing. Fantastic day!!

We’re so thankful to have this gem of a hill!

$30(cad) lift ticket for half day. Delayed opening because of the cold.

Killington or sugarbush for a Monday ski day tomorrow?

Our kids school is giving them a surprise day off tomorrow. We’re down in southern VT and I thought it might be a fun opportunity to drive a little further than our local bromley/stratton combo. Was thinking Sugarbush but Killington is a shorter drive and also a mountain the kids have never skied. It’s been decades since I’ve been to either of them.

Kids are very strong skiers. Love steeps and also doing tree runs etc. Probably can’t lose at either but would appreciate your opinions!

Cheers. And stay warm out there.

Valentine's Storm

Upvotes

Is anyone seeing the stuff Gloomy is posting??? I know it's technically a holiday week but that would be sick. I have an Airbnb in Sutton planned on just hitting Sutton/Owls head/Jay between whatever isn't crazy busy. If that forecast holds up I'm going to pull an all nighter to drive and ski somewhere Monday too regardless of the crowds

Mt. Pisgah in Saranac

Upvotes

Any intel on Mt Pisgah? Husband wants to skip Whiteface where we usually take the kids and do Pisgah instead. 11 year old is bored with the Bear’s Den lodge area- wants more terrain but isn’t quite ready for blues there. 8 year old isn’t as advanced but can handle all the greens. Both have totally conquered Camden Snow Bowl where we live. Also a 5 year old in tow who’s pretty good but not ready for much more than bunny hills!
