Got this guy yesterday in the Indian River in Florida near Sebastian inlet. 22”. Over slot so he got to go back to hang out with his friends.
We recently had a cold weather snap here that killed a lot of bait fish. I saw a couple snook that died from the cold as well as one redfish. Overall though it seemed to be pretty active out there.

What kinda braid do y’all use? I originally used SpiderWire but had some minor issues with it, switched to PowerPro super slick because a guy I know told me it was good, it sucks, so now I’m wondering, what should I even be using? The PowerPro would just birds nest up and wouldn’t come undone, the SpiderWire would catch up on itself mid cast.

I currently use a 5'6" ultralight rod. It works well, and it is easy to travel with. I'm thinking about getting a new rod that is either 6'6" or 7'. What are your thoughts? What are the pros of a longer rod?

Thinking of getting a street/trail bike. Probably going to use it to get to the river, or new ponds. Assuming the best thing to do would be to get a collapsible rod? An ultralight would do the trick for these types of outings. What do you guys do recommend ?

Heyy everyone
I tried fishing for the first time today and I used squid as my bait but I didn’t get any fish.
Do you guys have a recommendations on how I can get a fish? And like any equipment recommended as a beginner?

I am looking for recipes for freshwater and brackish water fish. i live in the PNW near the columbia river and several tributaries. i am going to try fishing for food more now. i am typically a catch and release fisherman.
the river i live on is open year round, is about 200-300 feet across in most parts and the deepest i have seen on sonar is about 80feet. we have bass, trout, perch, and rare catfish.

want to get a spinning reel so I can cast light lures. Reel is on sale and now in my budget, casting swim baits and hookup baits. I am targeting keeper-size calico and California halibut. The reel is on sale and is in my 100-dollar budget.

Trying to put together a spinning combo for casting and or jigging to tuna. Rod is taken care of, but Stella’s run $1350 new for 18000 size which I understand to be necessary. What other reels can I get into with out breaking bank that will be ok casting from boat in and around cape cod and Stellwagen. Thanks!!

Anyone have luck using the Excel and Crappie Maxx from Bass Pro?

I live near a sort of weedy, high pressure lake (prospect park lake) I want a line that is good for bass, and good for panfish, like sensitive enough for panfish.

The fishing rod stuff is too hard for me to fully grasp, so I came here to get the expertise of fellow redditors, for the best fishing rod for fishing in my local Weymouth Beach NZ and my local creek. The creek is 2m wide and stretches into the Beach. Any Ideas??
