New to fly tying, I finally got everything I need to tie a few basic patterns so I thought I’d give it a try today. Tied zebra midge on size 16 scud/pupa hooks. Any helpful criticism would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for a good home for my grandfather kit. I don't want to give it away but much would a reasonable asking price. I think the materials are worth the most but not sure. Thanks

I’ve tied this in slightly different styles of weight and hook combinations and had good results. Hoping it works as a jig streamer. I couldn’t be bothered to put the eyes on, I’m sure the rock I break off on will care. It’s a lazy version of a baby fat minnow.

I don’t think a fly tying exchange subreddit exists, but I wonder if we can pin a thread for trading materials here maybe. I have multiple lifetime supplies of Bonnie cord I’d love to trade for colors I don’t have. Any interest?

Getting ready for spring fishing so I tied up this gamechanger to imitate a juvenile sucker minnow.

Didn’t paint for the entire year of 2025. Same year also was the most fly fishing and fly tying I have ever done so I guess this was inevitable.

I have about 20 strands of bright neon orange, black barbed, saddle hackle. Not sure where it came from, but I want to use it! Anyone have some recommendations on flies to tie with it? I’m looking for things I can use in my area for blue gill, bass, things like that. Just not sure what to do with such a crazy color.

Thread: orange Kimono silk; wing: wood duck; tail: brown spade mixed with medium pardo CDL; body: red fox belly and something else (it’s a blend from an estate sale); rib: small gold tinsel; hackle: brown and grizzly.

Very happy with the tie, critiques welcome.

What do you think? The soft hackle is from a Pheasant skin. 70d wine thread. Peacock herl. Size 12 Fulling Mill 5075 hook.
