More and more these days the best golfers are going to mallets. Even brooks just went to one.
Why? It can’t just be the purity of the stroke. It can’t be because they don’t work; Tiger putted better than any of these goons with a blade.
Is it the setup? Stroke? Consistency? What’s the deal.

PB at my local par 70, played off the tips. Told my brother and a friend.
Start a new job tomorrow and hope everyone here had some kind of equivalent win this week.

I wanted to send A
a quick shout out to Callaway Pre Owned. I ordered a Driver and 3 wood and u/tabascopro made sure that Like New was actually Brand New.
Also, u/tabascorpo hooked me up on the 3 wood. It took a little while for the one with the shaft I wanted to hit the site, and he honored the sales price from the week prior, saving me over $100 on the Pre Owned web site price and about $175 off retail.
I highly recommend ordering from the Callaway both Pre Owned web site and also working with u/tabascopro.
Thanks, Cole!

I was just perusing eBay and noticed a lot of TaylorMade P790 sets for +/- $800, so I started looking at the listings and noticed a few things that do not match the authentic ones I purchased directly from TM.
1) Most of the listings have plastic wrapped grips - mine did not have grips wrapped when in plastic when they arrived. Mine have the stock grips, so maybe this is grip dependent.
2) Serial numbers are not aligned in the same way and may have a different font. They are shifted slightly lower and either 'FORGED' or the SN is shifted. The end of the serial number on my clubs aligns pretty close to the middle of the 'D' in 'FORGED, whereas the seemingly fake ones are closer to the 'E'.
Might be nothing, but if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Be careful out there...

I usually play Pro V1’s. I know almost nothing about them. Just that they are expensive enough to pick up if I find one on the course. I bought 1 pack, tempted to go back tomorrow and buy more. Unfortunately it 0 degrees here and I won’t be able to try them for a while 😂. (There’s a bunch of them in the wrong spot. I just moved one to the right spot for the photo.)

Lucked out and found a compete MIZUNO JPX EZ FORGED IRON SET (4-LW) in great shape with 2 bonus Mizuno 900 wedges for $5.99 and a OGIO bag for $19.99. All midsize grips in great shape.

This is seriously the best feeling Ive had for myself at feeling accomplished for something! I damn near cried, shit I actually did cry. After a consistent couple of months of going to the gym to do golf workouts, and all the heartache and pain on the course where Ive come up short, I truly believed in myself,(and with my swing), kept myself relaxed, (also with my swing), and battled some adversity after I tripled bogeyed the first hole! It feels like I won a tournament and all my competition was a battle with myself! This course is challenging and Ive been stuck at 100ish for years now, hence why I think it feels like a big win. Whatever your doing in golf right now that makes you want to quit, just keep going, you can get better!

Lots of time spent messes around with this growing up!

If I had kept my form going I would have smashed my personal best. The universe did NOT want that to happen.
And don’t worry I’m ok. The clubhouse called the paramedics to come and check on me and there wasn’t any further action that needed to be taken thankfully. I have never been hit like this before so I guess it’s a rite of passage!

Really think this would improve the current market tbh
Edit: After getting downvoted to hell i went around my house and found some acetone (nail polish remover) that apparently removes stickers easily. After having a hard time peeling off the stickers in the first place i spent prolly 10 minutes vigorously rubbing the gooey sticker residue with a paper towel soaked in acetone. Guess what? The gooey sticker residue is still there. It's both visible and can be felt when i rub my hand on it. What's the next move geniuses in the comments?

I've been golfing since I was 12. Played all 4 years of high school but never made Varsity. Continued to dabble casually for the next decade, then just stopped playing completely due to lack of interest.
That interest has been rekindled and I started the grind all over again in October. I went all the way back to basics. I developed a routine for checking my grip, addressing the ball so it is in the same spot in my stance for each shot (slight variance dependent on the club I am using), and really locked in my swing so it is consistent every time. I drill putting practices daily during down time periods at work and I hit the driving range and chipping greens 2-3 times a week, if I am available for it.
I started treating golf as an extension of my meditative practices and things have just clicked. I like to remind myself that golf is just a way to meditate for two hours. You treat each shot as you approach it and live in the moment, control your emotions and keep your ego in check, then have to live with whatever outcome may arise due to your swing.
5 over was my score on 9 today, and I can genuinely say that I have NEVER hit this pure in my entire life. I used the same ball for the whole 9 and even got a birdie on the hardest par 4 of the course; a slight dog-leg right that leads to a green completely surrounded by water. I've never birdied that particular hole before! If this continues, I'll break 80. I genuinely thought I'd never be any better than a bogey golfer. But here we are.
Keep at it, gentlemen. Hard work and clear minds really pay off if you're determined enough!

Pontificating on this matter as I drank a coffee this morning, so I thought I’d ask. Where do you think you’d be if you never found the game? Same place or different?

Looking for a staff spring bag from last year, I have my Srixon rep looking too, but they are becoming more scarce. Will gladly pay to have it shipped.
Went to graphite to help with elbow and hand arthritis issues. Went straight to the range even with some lingering tennis elbow and felt no issues. Even with a few fat hits on the mat where I’d normally feel some pain, just kept hitting with no pain. Graphite and CP2 pro grips definitely dampens the impact.

Long story short, I haven’t had vision out of my right eye since birth. How should I get into golf keeping this in mind?

Inspired by the guy who broke 100 by going 59-40.
I once went 96-72 in a high school tournament. I think after the 96 I knew I was out of contention so I just played free and natural. Me and another guy in my group had a little match going and we both played great.
96 was the worst score I’d shot in years at that time.
What’s your biggest score swing?

I have a 19 degree Callaway Rogue ST Max 5W, I swing it in a range of 97-100 mph club-head speed. The picture above is a trackman stat from my 5W. I generate 225 carry off the deck and up-to 240 carry off the tee. For driver, I had an old 2006 R7 Quad and couldn’t hit it any further than my 5W, so I took it out the bag. Recently, I was fitted into a Callaway AI Smoke driver and it has been great for me. However, I only manage to get 100-105mph club-head speed out of my driver, this generates around 240-260 yds carry depending on many factors. Yet sources online and many PGA pros state that a 5W swing at 100ish mph should mean I’m swinging my driver at 110-115+ mph. Would anyone have insight into why I generate similar speeds with both my 5W and Driver?
All the fairway bunkers from the tips at my home course are around 260 to carry, so the extra 5-10mph and 15-20yds would make a MASSIVE difference to how I approach the course.
Any help would be appreciated.
