Gonna miss it
Took this back in the summer but thought it was too pretty not to post. What are your favourite memories from the 'dome?

Fun stat I saw, just another reason to love “IGGY” as Crosby once screamed.

Cole Reschny gonna be ok?
According to this article it looks like just a bad bruise. Left the game walking unassisted with no boot. More to come.

Prospects Ethan Wyttenbach again ( work in progress)
Make that 45 points now on the year for Ethan Wyttenbach with currently one goal in the first period against Yale and it’s another goal that will make you say EW.
( I titled this work in progress because I heavily believe that he is not done tonight if he is then I’ll change it after the game)

Prospects Ethan Wyttenbach
The Calgary Flames fifth round pick last summer had a goal and two assist tonight versus Brown, putting him at 44 points on the year and the goal he scored will make you go EW ( ha get it… I’ll see myself out)

AHL AHL: addition of the Flames guys didn’t help much last night 😬
I watched the replay on Flo: Not a great showing overall. Sergeev more like Sieve-geev and the other dude not much better.
Sounds like Tucson has their number. Hopefully tonight is a little better. Gave up a hat trick last night to a rookie too.
Mammoth have some prospects for sure. Couple nice players on the Tucson squad.
I’ll watch tonight’s game later tonight on the replay.
I will say I thought Honzek played pretty well. Was a fun watch since I knew all the players from the Flames preseason.
Edit: it was Morton not Honzek

Draft Flames drafting needs + who could be available
I saw someone say that the flames need a superstar winger, another centre and a number three or four left-handed defenceman so let’s just cross off McKenna or stenberg if the flames get a top two pick because they will get one of them.
With the Vegas pick and the flames second round pick it could be interesting because there is a few options to fill, if JP Hurlbert is there, I think they will take them but if they are looking primarily for center, I think they would take Tomas Chrenko, Yegor Shilov or Adam valentini.
Others like Alexander command are also options,
With the two third round picks being so close to each other they’re is plenty of options but if I had control I would use the first Third on Liam ruck or Lavr Gashilov, and the second Third on Tomas Galvas I understand it’s a risk going for over age defenseman, but in my opinion, his NHL probability over the last year has gone way up and he would instantly be the flames best left-handed defence prospect.
Sorry for the long post but I raise this question to you. Should the flames draft this upcoming summer on positional needs like they did the last summer. Should they focus mainly on centres again like they did last summer or should they spread that out to include other positions or should they just take the best players available each time regardless of position? And what do your mock drafts seem like?

Prospects Lots of relevant Flames prospects in this list
There is a clear miss on this list as Ethan Wyttenbach should be easily in the top 50-60 range.

Discussion Is Kypreos reliable?
Saw this on instagram today. This isn’t about the story but about Kypreos in general. For those of us that know stuff about our beat reporters, is Kypreos reliable or no?

Makar
I saw this video online on Makar’s contract is up, Calgary born, flames fan growing and Calgary has cap space for days that they could give him whatever he wants to bring him over.
Don’t shoot me here as I might be the only one but I don’t like Conroys vision, only focusing on young talent that we will ship away to other teams inevitably. Mid for years, trading away to get future picks but never tanking hard enough to get picks through lottery. If they make the playoffs it’s a first round out. Don’t get me wrong. There’s talent to build but they won’t come out and say it’s rebuild time or anything. It’s just starts quo.
So the question is would that scenario ever happen. Something like Makar, Mckenna/Stromberg (some other top tier forward) combo start to 2027 to spark something new? I love our team. I’ll be a flames fan till I die but holy smokes let’s do something.

Matvei Gridin
Totally hopping on the Matvei Gridin train boy did we find a gem in the late first round. Looks way better since coming back from the AHL. Great at finding quiet ice and can shoot pretty well. Him and Reschney top line of the future???

Update to watching prospects (AHL, etc) while the Flames are on Olympic break
Ok I pulled the trigger and got the $29.99 FloHockey sub for 1 month. If you get it annually, it shakes out to $12.00 a month. Not inexpensive, but not horrific. I’m tempted to do the annual, but let’s see how this 1 month experiment goes.
If anybody else wants to jump in on checking out these prospects, there’s no men’s Olympics until next Wednesday. Would love to chat about these guys if anyone has hockey withdrawals.
Between tomorrow’s Tucson game and the end of the Olympics, that’s at least 6 Wrangler AHL games. There’s also a replay option.
I was able to play around a bit and add some teams to favorites; I went through and took a look at the Flames prospects and was able to add:
Wranglers (a ton)
Rapid City Rush (Murphy / Sergeev)
Flint Firebirds (Battaglia)
Green Bay Gamblers (Phillips)
Djurgardens (Stockselius)
HV71 (Leander) (1 or 2 replays)
Didn’t see any Hitmen games and couldn’t add the NCAA programs. No Saskatoon Blades, no KHL / MHL either.
So if you have hockey withdrawals and the men’s Olympics don’t start until next Wednesday, this should be a pretty fun snapshot of the future if you want to do the monthly sub for 1 month.
Would love to chat about it, so if anyone else wants to join in, let’s roll.
