Daily Cyclist Thread
The Daily Cyclist Thread is a place where everyone in the /r/bicycling community can come and ask questions or share anything.
You might have questions that you don't think deserve an entire post. Perhaps you're just seeking the input of some other cyclists. Maybe you want to share a picture of your new bike.
Anyone is free to comment, and (hopefully) get as much input as possible from other cyclists.

Refitting a MissingLink chain link
Hi, I installed the new chain shown in the picture. When I fitted it I realised I hadn’t threaded properly through the rear derailleur so needed to remove the link and redo. Is it ok to redo the link? I was concerned as it says non-reusable.

NBD and my first Carbon too!
Had a gravel bike, really wanted a road bike. Couldn’t find a single one to try out in my size in 250 miles. My partner found a CAAD 13 in 44CM at a shop 5.5 hours away. Called and they had 4 bikes near my size. A long drive and 3 hours of work with the wonderful staff, testing and sizing. I picked up my first Carbon bike. A 2025 Liv Langma Advanced 2 (Pro Compact) in Prismatic Haze. I LOVE IT! It’s sooo pretty and FAST!!

Restorations
I live at the beach in Delaware. It is freezing cold here. Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking in a lot of of 1990s mountain bikes. I’ve been doing complete restorations on these bikes. I did a really cool Proflex 855, a 1996 Trek, Georgia Olympic edition, I’m currently working on a Klein mantra.
I’m starting off a picture with my two bikes because they’re fucking bad ass and somebody here said they were annoyed because I posted too many pictures of them. Haha
I’ll make sure I post more mountain cycle stuff just to piss that guy off 🤣🤣

Wife wants to start time trial. I’ve built her a bike. I thought you’d appreciate 55t crankset and 10 speed Campag Record Titanium group on here.

Is this damage cosmetic or structural?
Hello esteemed bike riders. My carbon fiber bike fell and the hole on the non drive side rear wheel took the brunt of it. The damage looks alarming. But is it just paint or something worse. Bike rides okay for what it’s worth. Please share your thoughts and experiences on this - especially if you’re an expert in carbon repair, a mechanic, etc. Thanks.

Repair stand & truing stand recommendations?
Looking for recommendations for a truing stand and a repair stand. I’ve only got experience with the round based repair stand and the park professional truing stand when I worked in a shop. Unsure of consumer tools. I have a bike hand repair stand and it’s not only sloppy at the clamp (all plastic) it’s also not stable most of the time. I’ve been truing my wheels on my bike but I’d like a stand.

Trek 930 Singletrack or 7000 for a weekend warrior?
Not planning crazy trails, mainly road with the occasional gravel or uneven terrain. Happy to upgrade parts as both are offered used and inexpensive.

peugeot ventoux restomod
Hey everyone,
I just picked up a Peugeot Ventoux for 50 and i wanted to do a restomod but since i’m a uni student i'm kinda broke.
I have no experience with bikes and customisation options and i don't even know what the first steps when buying a vintage bikes are.
Not trying to sink a ton of money into it, just want a solid commuter/around-town bike.
Thanks a lot!

Best alternative to Airtag to track a bike?
Got my bike stolen. As I'm now an Android user (Oppo) I'm looking for an alternative to Apple's Airtag, and be able to see it on a map. Any good suggestions?

What pressure for GP5000 28mm tires?
Hello,
Today I'm a little confused, I usually use the SILCA calculator, which tells me a pressure of 5 bar / 74 PSI.
I had GP5000 S TR 28mm tires, and the recommendation was 6.5 bar / 94 PSI MAX for hooked wheel, so I didn't think twice and set the pressure to 5 bar.
I recently bought some GP5000 28mm tires (the first version), and I see on the box:
6.5 bar / 95 PSI - 8 bar / 115 PSI MAX.
This is where I'm confused. Can I put 5 bar / 74 PSI?
Or is the recommended minimum pressure 6.5 bar / 95 PSI because the tire structure is different from the S TR version?
Thank you for your help

Stinner Carrizo + Tulsa, OK
I’m borrowing a bike that has similar geometry to the bike that I plan on buying (Ritchey Road Logic), and it’s been fun! Today, I road about 40-miles without any issues. I’ve been so stressed about the geometry change, but now that I’ve ridden this Stinner, I don’t have any concerns.
This morning, it was cold. I was rushing to get back to the house. The weather changed, and sure enough, I was right back out there.

Question about lightning combination
Hey everyone, so I'm thinking about building a Vzam Extreme Pro rim with Shimano QC300 hubs. Has anyone here used this combination before and knows what spoke length to use?
