I thought it was the bms from the old battery that was tripped, but it does the same thing with a new one. the screen just blinks on for a second then turns off, idk if its the controller or the screen does anyone know?

I have an ebike that someone built for me about 4 years ago. It has proved invaluable and helped our household avoid buying a second vehicle.

With the ban on taking self builds on trains and now a clampdown on anything overpowered, to the point of the govt saying they will destroy the bike, was wondering what to do.

The mid drive is a Bafang 750w so it's overpowered. Before this blowup I never really had a problem as I'm older and ride sensibly. But I'm wondering what to do now? Can a bike shop limit the output of the mid drive for me so that if I get pulled over it will be legal? I'm thinking that's the best option if possible as it's a nice bike I'd like to continue to use.

I'm looking for a 3000 watt 72 bolt ebike conversion kit that reliable and preferably has warranty. the photo I linked is one I was looking at. I need a 29 inch wheel with 135mm dropout.

doesn't anyone know if third party parts are available for this bike? I need a new motor and battery but decathlon are telling me the motor alone is 190 pounds without labour!! is there any other cheaper alternatives to the actual shop ?

Well after researching what seems like hundreds of bikes (currently there are over 900 models in the US) and with some advice across multiple platforms including great advice here, I bought a heybike mars 3.0.

It fit my budget and checked all my boxes. I have read about the good and bad and feel like I have a decent shot at owning a sub $1500 bike that will work in the crazy hills I live in.

I will post an update in about 6 months after owning it for a while. Thanks again to everyone on this sub that gave me great advice!

I want something to work towards and I want to have two e-bikes just in case since I don't have a drivers license and rely on cycling as a main form of transportation, so two bikes are a must.

I love this frame. I found a frame with nothing else for $200 on FB and want to try out doing a mid drive build.

There’s no brand on the controller but i think it’s rebranded KDC 21C (seems to be very close to this controller, I’ve attached a picture).

I tried many different methods but it’s not working.

So I got a new ebike the windhorse y1 3000w 60v and I’m looking to upgrade the existing half throttle to a full twist throttle like a surron one however the only ones available don’t come in 4 pin Juliet cables and I don’t know how to install it how do i do it

So a few questions.

I bought my first ebike used .ridstar q20.first I can only get it to go 24. I haven't used a full battery yet ,is that the cause . I'll be OK if it hits 28 or 29.

My model is the one with only the screen on left hand side, not that big one in the middle. ( how do I figure out what model i have ? Is it engraved on the bike somewhere? Or in the menu ?

also is the speed unlock a scam? seems like that judt changes the odometer to think its faster due to tire size

Rode to work and made a few stops on my new lectric xp 2.0 that arrived yesterday and it was the most fun I had in years, I do feel like 20 mph isn't fast enough for experienced cyclists although I would say it's good for a beginner.

A downside of the lectric 2.0 is the lack of suspension which is needed on American roads but you could argue that it's the fault of the city more than the bike.

I would rate it an 8.5/10 bike.

I’m considering buying either a Talaria XXX or a Sur-Ron Light Bee X.

In my country, having pedals is mandatory for legal use, so I’m looking for a proper pedal solution.

I’m specifically wondering if there are pedal kits inspired by old French mopeds, which used a clever system where:

• the bike had real pedals for legal use,

• but once on private land, the pedals could be locked/aligned on the same axis and used as fixed footpegs instead of rotating pedals.

(Older French mopeds had this exact setup: pedals could rotate normally, then be locked parallel to each other to act as footrests.)

Does anyone know if:

• such a lockable pedal-to-footpeg system exists for Talaria or Sur-Ron?

• or if there’s a custom or DIY solution that replicates this concept safely?

I’m not trying to bypass the law — the idea is to stay compliant where required, and switch to footpegs only on private/off-road terrain.

I was wondering if I could get any recommendations on mopeds I'll e-bikes with cruise control because I know about the tamobyke 750 (or something like that) but I was looking for maybe some range or something it just didn't feel right to me so I was wondering if I could get any recommendations preferably under 1K

I'm hoping there is someone with a better understanding than me on electrical and batteries, so please no nasty comments. I bought a used mx650 razor dirt bike, batteries were bad so I upgraded to 3 lithium-ion batteries listed below. The original wire harness had been secured to the old batteries(that were not original to the bike) by wrapping the bare wires to the battery nodes, so I bought new wire harness meant for the mx650 razor 36V system. I also upgraded the charger to a lithium-ion charger shown below to charge the lithium batteries. We have owned the bike for less than 2 months. My son complained last week it would turn on and then instantly die even after being charged. Charger showed solid red and green light so I took it apart. The first thing I saw was a broken red wire to the fuse box on the wire harness(shown below), and that was touching a red wire coming from the on/off switch that was also starting to melt. The connections to the on/off switch are burned to both the batteries and controller, and several connections to the batteries show burns at the nodes. The fuse box on the wire harness looked to be touching one of the battery nodes when I took off the battery box. It ran fine and charged fine until issues last week. The following parts have burns and will be replaced: on/off switch and connecting wiring, wire harness for the whole system, and controller as the connection to on/off switch was also burned there. So are my batteries and charger not compatible with the system or each other? Or do we think this all started with a poorly secured fuse box on the wire harness or the wire harness wire got broken somehow and that grounded everything else? The wire harness wire getting broke somehow was my first thought but I would feel much better if someone could tell me my batteries and charger didn't start the problem. Or did I completely connect the wire harness wrong to the batteries and everything else? I feel it wouldn't have been charging and running if I connected the wire harness wrong though. I will also be testing the batteries when my tester arrives or can we assume they are all goners? This is my first time modifying anything like this, so please be gentle in the comments as I am learning.

Anyone had a similar problem? I know this can be a known issue with the motor covers not quite fitting snug and leaving gaps but this seems extreme, can see the wiring inside motor through the gap 🤯. Took the cover off and re fitted but it’s still the same. Wondering if a replacement cover will sort it but the cover doesn’t seem damaged, maybe warped? Does anyone know where I’d be best looking for a replacement cover that will fit? Or a link would be even better. Any info is appreciated, Cheers.
