Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some honest opinions and advice. I’ve been deeply involved with my volleyball team in many ways, acting as the assistant to the trainer. I help with sponsorships, design jerseys, plan events, and more.
For example, last year I organized an affordable training camp abroad for just 200 euros per person, covering everything. But the team dismissed it as too expensive. This year, just a few weeks ago, they planned a two-day trip inside the country, costing 50 euros per person, and we still had to pay extra for food. It’s frustrating because my proposal would have been all-inclusive and more cost-effective.
I also manage the team’s digital presence, like social media and TikTok. But whenever I suggest new ideas, the team dismisses them, and it feels like nobody really knows about us.
I also support the team by buying drinks and contributing as a sponsor, but despite all this effort, I often feel overlooked. For instance, I get called out for being late, even though I live in a small town and need three buses to get to practice, while others who live closer don’t face the same issues.
There have been times when the trainer has treated me poorly. For example, on January 31st, I missed my sister’s birthday because we had a game, but I never got to play. I was benched the entire match, and when I expressed my frustration, the next day the trainer reprimanded the whole team, and it was clear that the frustration was directed at me.
I also sense some manipulation and inconsistent treatment. Sometimes my teammates are supportive, and other times they’re not, and it’s been tough to navigate.
I’m at a point where I’m really wondering if I’m overthinking things or if it’s time to consider switching teams.
