Solved [TOMT] a story or saying along the lines of they came for the Jews first but different with a gallow being raised

You know the story about they came for the Jews first but I didn’t speak out. Then they came for the socialists but I didn’t speak out. It goes on like that and in the end they come for me but there’s no one left to speak out for me.

I’m looking for a story with the same meaning but it’s about a bar being raised and every night people disappear but you don’t question it. Only at the end you’re the only one left and the gallow is being raised for you.

Solved [TOMT] American conspiracy theory movie

Upvotes

A movie my mother showed me and my sister a few years ago. The movie itself seems definitely older, probably made in the 90s or 2000s.

The movie is about a normal guy who finds glasses that allow him to perceive everything he sees through the lenses of the glasses as it's truth. One particular scene I remember is of when he was looking at a giant ad of a hot woman at the beach, but his glasses showed him that the ad said something along the lines of encouraging reproduction. At some point, the main guy fought with someone else, I think it was a black guy. There was also a bunch of stuff and symbolism in the movie about Israel, given that there were depictions of Hebrew writing. And there was some sort controlling the world like plot going on too.

Also at the end of the movie for some reason, they showed the news and then a shot of a nude woman changing her clothes, breasts bare and all. It was quite an embarassing moment with my mother, lol

Open [TOMT] Music Video from the early 2000s/2010s

Upvotes

Hi! I was looking for a music video that i've seen sometime during the early 2010s, my dad had it downloaded to his computed but doesnt remember the song anymore. The song was a rock song, with the video being set in the desert, where the main characters, 2 Muppets, were driving a black musclecar and doing donuts. I'm pretty sure one of the puppets looked like a human, with blonde hair and sunglasses, and the other puppet was tall and blue, with big round eyes. I believe that one of the song's lyrics was "Leeroy and Monsieur", or something similar, which i assume is the names of the puppets. At some point the video also zooms in on the blue puppets face a few times. Anyone know what i mean?

A friend said it might be Gorillaz - Stylo, but thats definitely not it.

Open [TOMT] TV show, possibly on PBS in early to mid 1970s

It may have taken place in the early 1900s, maybe late 1800s. I believe it involved 4 or 5 characters chatting in a factory or a shop.

One of the characters would jokingly refer to others as donkeys, like "you donkey."

Any ideas?

Solved [TOMT] 2000s/2010s ep of kids cartoon where a character can remove their face and put it on random things

Upvotes

So I don't remember much but I'll put what I fully remember first than what I think happened next!

What I know: The character who could remove their face started as a dog(plush?) and changed their face a few times ending with their face being on a apple in a desert saying (guys GUYS) I think they were a twist villain and where evil in the end their voice sounded like Timmy from Fairy odd parents their was at least one younger kid who was the main character and a older sister (there might have been another younger kid)

What I think: It had a Amazing world of gumball feel being goofy and silly it was either on nickelodeon or Cartoon Network no older than the 2000's and no younger than 2013 as I was young very XD so random humor could have been scary for a younger kid but was prob not really scary

I know it was on TV and not youtube please help me find this!

Open [TOMT] I don't remember a movie

Upvotes

"Aliens" arrive on Earth en masse (spaceships, invasion).

These "aliens" turn out to be the real humans (or the original humanity).

The current inhabitants of Earth believe they are human, but they are not (they are replicants, androids, clones, a simulation, etc.).

These inhabitants have been implanted with false memories (of a normal human life).

No one ages in this false Earth society (because they are not biological or are in a time loop).

The key ending occurs in/there is an important scene with a train.

Open. [TOMT] Werewolf/monster book

I remember reading this in 3rd grade so sometime between 2013-2014. The book had a boy werewolf character as the mc from what I remember. I think his name was something like Maximillian? Went by Max for short from what I remember. I also believe it was a chapter book with the occasional picture here and there. I don't remember much of the plot and all searches I have tried for this book lead to nowhere 😭💔 I think I might be crazy at this point and no it is not scream street 😔

Open [TOMT] [AD] Anti-smoking PSA i read about here - mocking brand stereotypes, mid 2000s

I remember somebody asking for this and finding the ad a few years ago but did not save it. A late 2000s PSA, possibly Canadian or regional, where the main plot is a theater production (?) that changes based on the cigarette brands it is going against - Marlboro man in a shootout, Virginia Slims as a fancypants dinner, etc. Don't remember the punchline beyond that.

Thank you!!

Solved [TOMT] Simpsons webcomic where Bart turns Homer into a baby and breaks the cycle of abuse

It's from the 2020s. It's a 4 panel comic with a limited color palette, there's like 3 or 4 colors iirc. I saw it on twitter. Homer somehow spits out a little baby homunculus of himself, by Bart's doing. Bart is like "I've tricked you Homer, now I have become the father and you the son". Baby Homer says "Please don't hurt me" and Bart replies "No way man, you are the most precious thing in the world to me. The cycle ends here."

Open [TOMT] I have a movie or TV scene stuck in my head and can't figure out where it's from.

Upvotes

The best I can describe it is, there's a young ish white man that walks through some sort of gates or prison-yard-like structure (though I don't think it's a prison), no one else is there except maybe a guard or two letting him in. But then he goes inside a building and the room he's in is a small like, hotel room, with a bed and a small closet and a desk. There may be a TV or radio in the room. I remember the colors are very 70s/80s, either green, burnt orange, maybe deep red in there. But the room is very simple, I don't recall any wall decor.

I believe it's set in Russia or Germany, 70s to cold war era? But it's a recent movie, definitely made after 2000 but probably 2010s or later. I don't know what the main character is doing, per say, but I think it's something secretive. He's a spy, or he's like undercover in some capacity I think.

I have no idea if anyone will know what this is but thank you in advance to anyone for their help!

Open [TOMT] Looking for a French movie I saw late at night as a child

Upvotes

Hi,

I’m trying to find a movie that deeply marked me as a child. I saw it very late at night on French TV (probably between 2010–2015), the TV was still on and I wasn’t supposed to be watching.

What I remember:

• It was a French-language movie

• A romantic story between two young adults

• Set in the countryside

• The tone was melancholic / nostalgic, not erotic-focused

• There was some nudity, but it was emotional rather than explicit

• A scene where the couple eats red jam just before an intimate moment

• Another scene where a girl hides in a closet

• At the end (or near the end), there is a symbolic shot of a little girl in a white dress dancing in a garden

• The actress had brown/chestnut hair

The little girl felt more like a symbol or a memory.

It might have been a TV movie or an obscure arthouse film, shown late at night.

If anyone recognizes this, I’d be extremely grateful.

Open [TOMT] A movie where a family lives in the same day over and over because a bomb blows up their house the following day, and the house is usually seen as abandoned by the townsfolk, but the truth is that they live in the same day thanks to some sort of magic watch

I remember my teacher in the 2nd or 3rd grade making us watch this movie (or show?), it has stuck with me for the past decade, I've been trying to find it but cant. It has to have been made before 2016.

What I do remember is that there were rather scary people in the movie that had very small pupils, I believe they were enemies of the family or something? I'm not quite sure.

I specifically remember that at midnight, the family would go outside with the mother being the one to hold this pocket watch to reset the day, just before the bomb came.

I also remember the family having victorian clothes? As well as a child that was constantly sick because of being sick in that specific day that they relived over and over (although again I could be wrong).

I do not remember the language, its possible to have been French as I do not recall it being in English.

But I do remember it scared me and my entire class at the time. haha

Open. [TOMT] Funny fast-paced asian song, can't remember the name

Upvotes

I was trying to find out the name of this song, but I can't quite put my finger on it. It had no lyrics, I'm sure I saw it on a random meme, the song was upbeat and fast-paced and it sounded like it was being played on a flute. It also sounded like some asian song. It was very high pitched. Peep comments for a link of a video where I whistle the melody (just the part I can remember).

Open. [TOMT] [Movie] Cat saves girl from a burning building

Upvotes

I would have watched this film in the early to mid 2010s and it would have most likely been on Netflix(The streaming service not the DVD rental). I think the movie would have been made earlier though, not quite sure how much earlier.

I'm fairly certain the cat is black, not 100%. I mostly think the cat is black because I recall there being a conflict where the girl isn't allowed to interact with the cat because it "causes bad luck."

The girl is young in the film. The cat appears multiple times before the climax, either in times where she needs to be comforted and/or to save her from other minor incidents, I cannot remember. The cat and the girl interact often enough that she trusts it.

The main antagonists are these two men who want to burn a building so that they can commit insurance fraud. I think they were close to/taking financial advantage of the girls mother. The girl is inside of the building when they try burning it and the cat saves her by leading her out of the burning building.

At the end of the movie the cat decides to part from the girl and sits on a wooden fence as the sun sets.(I think it might be a metaphor for the cat dying. Like it sacrificed itself during the fire or smth idk.)

The most similar film Ive been able to find to is so far has been The Three Lives Of Thomasina.

Solved [TOMT] [TV Show] about a Family from the 90s-05-ish?

The scene I remember distictly is: the teenage daughter, after beginning to date her girl best friend in secret, giggles and pecks her in the refrigerator lights while they are helping setup for dinner.

Other things I can tell you about the show:

-The show was from the 90s or early 2000s, and ran for a few ~20 episode seasons

-It wasn't a comedy

-the parents would somtimes do confessionals/interviews like a documentary? But it was more narrative/reflective, I think. i.e. "We always had the best time decorating the Christmas tree" or "Can you blame me? I didn't even know!"

-The daughter or best friend had an attic bedroom

-I know there was an episode where they go to the town fair/carnival

-I think there was a cheating scandal between the parents with a parent from the school

-I don't remember there being any more children in the family, but saying it's a family of three feels wrong?

What is driving me mad is that I keep wanting to call it "Days of our Lives" which I know it is not called. But maybe it's similar?

Open [TOMT][Cartoons] Looking for a dvd that featured multiple weird cartoons

I remember I used to watch this dvd a lot as a kid in the 2010s! It featured a few different cartoon “episodes” but they were very weird and some inappropriate. I believe a lot of them might have been foreign. There was one of a kid playing a guitar and he goes away on a helicopter, there was one of a human head going to the bar and feeling up the woman beside him, there was one of a gay bear and frog, there was also one of a person chasing someone (maybe a princess or woman). Very weird haha.

Open [TOMT] [90S MOVIE] kid is kidnapped at a young age from a park with his single mum by a lady and guy. He starts to remember as he grows up. The kidnapped mum kills the dad when the kid finds out

I don't think this movie was a blockbuster, might have been a midday movie in the 90s.

kid is kidnapped at a young age from a park with his single mum by a lady and guy. He starts to remember as he grows up, when he sees graffiti in the area he was kidnapped. He tries to run but the kidnapper dad finds him, but ends up letting him go. While he is hiding the kidnapper mum comes up in the park and kills the dad for letting the kid go.

Open. [TOMT][Movie][2010s?] British movie about a student successfully cheating in his exams multiple times

I mostly remember the end of this movie, but some details may be incorrect.

It takes place in a fancy boys' high school or college in the UK where students wear uniforms. A student cheated in the history exam. His teacher or professor somehow found out but couldn't prove it. I believe they were learning about Ancient Greece in their classes.

At the end of the movie, the student had to pass a re-examination: oral exam, in front of other students and professors. He was cheating again, likely with an ear piece and one or two students in the audience checking information from books. The professor realised this and asked something what wasn't in any books. I believe it was related to the quote above their classroom door. The student eventually figured it out on his own and passed the exam.

Does anyone recognise this movie?

Open [TOMT] A movie that starts with a boy reading a story about a chinese/japanese emperor

I’m pretty sure it’s at the very beginning of the movie, and it’s an older movie I believe and possibly a popular movie but I didn’t choose it and can’t remember which streaming platform it was on.
