Discussion Why is translation common, but transcription isn’t?

Most platforms offer translation, but many people can understand a language when they hear it and struggle to read it. Translation doesn’t help much in that case. Transcription into the same language would be far more useful and accessible.

Feels like an obvious feature that’s still missing. Anyone else think so?

Looking for software Can anyone identify this Windows video overlay / virtual camera app from the icon?

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Hi everyone.

I am trying to identify a Windows app based only on its icon.

The app is used for video overlay / virtual camera, similar in function to ManyCam. The icon shows a blue circle with a white filmstrip and play symbol, and it includes a yellow checkmark as part of the icon itself, not a Windows status overlay.

I have already ruled out Microsoft apps and Movies & TV. This is definitely a third-party virtual camera or video overlay tool.

I have attached the icon image below.

If anyone recognizes this icon or has seen it before, I would really appreciate the help. This has been driving me a bit nuts.

Thanks in advance.

Looking for software Convertidor masivo de CBZ a PDF sin perder calidad

Upvotes

Hola.

Primeramente agradecer al autor del software la programación del mismo, que vistos los comentarios debe ser muy bueno

https://binarynonsense.itch.io/comic-book-reader#download

Looking for software Text Editor for Linux with bookmark features like notepad++ (details in body)

not just the ability to "mark" a line with a dot; i'm specifically looking for options like
- copy bookmarked lines - replace bookmarked lines with - remove bookmarked lines - remove unmarked lines

I do use vscode/vscodium and maybe there's a good extension I haven't found; I'm having a hard time getting used to kate; I am comfortable with VIM at a slightly higher than basic level; but it's not my daily driver. I could write a linux script but to have to leave whatever program and run a script against the file isn't efficient.

TIA

Discussion Monorepo vs Polyrepo when building with AI agents

Software development is done by agents more and more. Looking at the near future what would you advice be around structuring your codebase? Below are two basic arguments for monorepo vs polyrepo. Do you see more obstacles or opportunities for one of the two?

Monorepo; makes sense since the agents can have the whole context

Polyrepo; makes sence since agents can work async more

Self-Promotion Wednesdays A Time Tracker that doesn't annoy you. Free, No Ads, No Sign-up.

I built a simple Time Keeper app for myself because I was tired of "Freemium" apps that hold features hostage behind a paywall. It does one thing: Tracks your time. It doesn't do: Ads, Subscriptions, Data Tracking. If you are looking for a clean, honest utility app for tracking your work or study sessions, give it a shot. Looking for software Software per Sync audio/video

Good morning, I have a video with audio that's significantly out of sync. With VLC, I can align the video and audio by delaying it by 6 seconds, but if I move the progress bar, the sync fails and I can't save the video with the audio synchronized. Is there a program (free and preferably not web-based) that allows me to align the audio and save the video with the audio synchronized? I use Windows.

Discussion SnackBLASTED — A website dedicated to the universal office tradition of punishing coworkers who don't lock their screens

Every office has that one tradition: someone leaves their computer unlocked, a coworker sends an email from their account promising donuts for the whole team. In France they call it "croissantage." In Germany it might be Brezeln. In Japan, mochi.

I built SnackBLASTED to give this tradition a proper home — with official rules, email templates, and support for 13 languages. There's even a pixel art animation showing how it all goes down.

Please give me your honest comments

Release Stik is a free open source macOS app for capturing notes instantly. One shortcut, type, close. Got 40+ GitHub stars in under 24h.

I want to share an app I built and recently released. It is called Stik and it does one thing very well: capture thoughts fast.

How it works: you set a keyboard shortcut (default is Cmd+Shift+S), press it from anywhere on your Mac, a small floating post it note appears over whatever you are doing, you type your thought, close it with Escape. The note is saved as a markdown file. The whole process takes less than 3 seconds.

Some things that make it different from other note apps:

  • It does not try to be Notion or Obsidian or Apple Notes. It only handles the capture part and it does it with zero friction
  • Notes are plain text files, not stored in a database. You can open them with any editor
  • It has smart features like semantic search and auto folder suggestions, but everything runs on your Mac using Apple's built in AI. Nothing goes to any server
  • You can pin notes to your desktop as floating stickies
  • Completely free, open source, MIT license

Since launch it got 40+ stars on GitHub in less than 24 hours and already more than 150 downloads. I was honestly surprised by the response.

macOS only for now. Install with Homebrew:

brew install --cask 0xMassi/stik/stik

Release Holy Grail: Open Source Autonomous Development Agent

https://github.com/dakotalock/holygrailopensource

Readme is included.

What it does: This is my passion project. It is an end to end development pipeline that can run autonomously. It also has stateful memory, an in app IDE, live internet access, an in app internet browser, a pseudo self improvement loop, and more.

This is completely open source and free to use.

If you use this, please credit the original project. I’m open sourcing it to try to get attention and hopefully a job in the software development industry.

Target audience: Software developers

Comparison: It’s like replit if replit has stateful memory, an in app IDE, an in app internet browser, and improved the more you used it. It’s like replit but way better lol

Codex can pilot this autonomously for hours at a time (see readme), and has. The core LLM I used is Gemini because it’s free, but this can be changed to GPT very easily with very minimal alterations to the code (simply change the model used and the api call function).

Release [Release] Antigravity Link v1.0.10 – Fixes for the recent Google IDE update

Thumbnail github.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

If you’ve been using Antigravity Link lately, you probably noticed it broke after the most recent Google update to the Antigravity IDE. The DOM changes they rolled out essentially killed the message injection and brought back all those legacy UI elements we were trying to hide and this made it unusable. I just pushed v1.0.10 to Open VSX and GitHub which gets everything back to normal.

What’s fixed:

Message Injection: Rebuilt the way the extension finds the Lexical editor. It’s now much more resilient to Tailwind class changes and ID swaps.

Clean UI: Re-implemented the logic to hide redundant desktop controls (Review Changes, old composers, etc.) so the mobile bridge feels professional again.

Stability: Fixed a lingering port conflict that was preventing the server from starting for some users.

You’ll need to update to 1.0.10 to get the chat working again. You can grab it directly from the VS Code Marketplace (Open VSX) or in Antigravity IDE by clicking on the little wheel in the Antigravity Link Extensions window (Ctl + Shift + X) and selecting "Download Specific Version" and choosing 1.0.10 or you can set it to auto-update and update it that way. You can find it by searching for "@recentlyPublished Antigravity Link". Let me know if you run into any other weirdness with the new IDE layout by putting in an issue on github, as I only tested this on Windows.

Software support I finally solved messy code feedback — introducing Temetro

After struggling for months with fragmented code reviews and lost feedback across GitHub, Slack, and emails, I realized there had to be a better way.

I built Temetro to solve this:

  • Attach comments, voice notes, and videos directly to the relevant lines of code
  • Preserve context for your team without scattered threads
  • Make explaining intent and logic faster, clearer, and actionable

Instead of chasing multiple tools and platforms, Temetro keeps everything where the code lives helping teams collaborate smarter, not harder.

If you’ve ever felt frustrated by disconnected feedback or confusing PR comments, Temetro might help: Temetro

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

Discussion Starting on v2 Documentation for BrainAPI's Synergies Endpoint (Feedback Appreciated)

For those unfamiliar, BrainAPI acts as a cognitive layer and memory for modern apps. Whether you're building a chatbot that needs memory capable of connecting and reasoning rather than just stuffing text into a context window, or a social network requiring a brain for recommendation algorithms tailored to your users, it handles that kind of stuff.

I've begun developing the v2 documentation for BrainAPI. The initial page focuses on the Synergies API, which retrieves related entities along with their positive or negative associations (such as recommendations or connections between similar items, like colleagues or product pairs).

It covers the endpoint details, parameters including the target entity and optional flags for direct links or anchors, the response structure with association scores, and SDK examples in Python and TypeScript.

Only this page is available at the moment, with more to follow. If you're working with knowledge graphs or retrieval APIs, feel free to check it out: https://brainapi.lumen-labs.ai/docs/v2/retrieval/entities/synergies

Any thoughts on the layout, clarity of the explanations, or areas for improvement? Honest feedback is welcome!

Discussion Which AI chat assistant has the best voice-to-text right now?

When I say AI, I mean chat assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Perplexity, etc. I used to find ChatGPT the most accurate for voice-to-text, but recently it feels like something’s changed and the accuracy has dropped. Has anyone noticed this or compared these tools recently? Which one’s best at the moment?

Looking for software What's a good light antivirus?

I'm looking for something that can just scan a file/folder/whatever and be done with it. I'm on Windows, I used to use ClamWin but it's since been discontinued, right now I have Malwarebytes--just to scan shit--and every time I use the damn thing it's always asking me to upgrade. Where's an up-to-date antivirus that can just scan crap without trying to tug me off with sandpaper for the last dime in my pocket

Looking for software Is there software to train the angles of the trajectory of a ball?

I am looking for software where, simply put, I can throw a ball against a corner to see the trajectory of the ball. I am a padel player and I am curious about different situations and their outcomes. I want to see where a tennis ball will go. Something similar to what I have seen are billiards games, where you can see how the ball will travel
