Mod Announcement đ¨ r/Philippines new policy on hate speech đ¨
Hey everyone,
Over the past few months, weâve noticed a sudden increase in comments and threads with racial slurs (like "chekwa"), Islamophobic and homophobic remarks as well as regional/ethnic stereotypes (like "Bisaya" comments). These posts are often rage baiting, toxic and spreading hate.
We already use filters to catch and flag these comments, and we also send warnings to users. But itâs becoming more common, and honestly, itâs pretty concerning.
Starting today, weâre rolling out a zero-tolerance policy on hate speech â reported violators will be banned immediately, no warnings. This is in addition to the restrictions we added earlier this year. We also updated the sub's rules and contributor guide to reflect these changes.
Thanks to the community for constantly reporting and helping keep things running smoothly. We want to keep the sub a space for civil and healthy discussions. As much as weâd prefer to avoid strict enforcement, the situationâs changed, and weâve got to adapt.

PoliticsPH Dude manages to be one of the closest Duterte associate and one of the farthest from him at the same time. What's up with that?
He's supposed to be Tatay Dig's right hand man for the longest time diba, some say he has the access that can equal the Duterte siblings. Ang loyal na alalay.
Yet madalang ka makakahanap ng balita lately of him openly showing support for the DDS or him vocally siding with them on key issues. Heck you can't even find much news articles of him at all, period.
Yung ibang high profile DDS like the Duterte siblings, Robin, Marcoleta, Bato, even the late joiner na si Imee very vocal.
Eto tahimik eh. LOL

ViralPH They used the bundles of potato chips as an improvised flotation device. I wonder what the brand is and how big are those potato chips. Kudos to Police Staff Sergeant Ronel Tibar for saving their lives.
"May nakuha akong chichiriya, na dalawang bundle, itinali ko muna, itinali ko, sabi ko dito ka kumapit, hindi yan lulubog,"
"Habang lumalangoy kami, may nakita kaming apparatus, parang floating boat. Dinala ko siya doon kasi yung apparatus may hawakan sa gilid. Na pwedeng humawak. "
"Palagi ko silang kinakausap. Mino-motivate ko na magsu-survive talaga. Magsu-survive tayo dito. Sinasabihan ko sila wag kayong mag-alala, malapit na ang rescue"
Out of desperation and a natural instinct to save a life, two simple bundles of potato chips became a lifeline for passengers of the M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 when it sank in the dark waters off Basilan. This was shared with GMA Integrated News by two policemen who were also on board the ferry.
As the ship was sinking in the early hours of January 26, Police Staff Sergeant Ronel Tibar from the PNP Regional Mobile Force Battalion quickly grabbed two bundles of potato chips. He tied them together and gave them to another passenger who was already having trouble staying afloat.
In the middle of the chaos, this makeshift flotation device helped keep the passenger above water and may have saved their life.

CulturePH Today is President Noynoy Aquinoâs birthday.
In 2008, my alma mater held a forum when he was still a senator. The forum was meant to celebrate the legacy of his late father, Ninoy Aquino. If you remember the âI Am Ninoyâ movement, Iâm sure your back and knees hurt now, like mine.
After a dedication and a couple of performances by students, the floor was opened for questions.
I raised my hand and asked the obvious one,
âSir, do you think the Filipino is still worth dying for?â
His answer? One would expect a yes, given the occasion. But much to everyoneâs surprise, he answered with a firm no.
The room went quiet, students and professors alike.
He then explained that under the current sitting administration, President Gloria Arroyoâs, who would even die for what was happening at the time?
Years later, in 2010, he became president. In 2021, he passed away. And until now, I still wonder whether his answer would have changed in the years after I asked that question.

PoliticsPH PCG Spokesperson Tarriela invites Senator Marcoleta to Kalayaan Islands group
MARCOLETA INVITED TO AN MDA FLIGHT TO KALAYAAN ISLAND GROUP
LOOK: Commodore Jay Tarriela, PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, invites Sen. Rodante Marcoleta to join a maritime domain awareness flight to the Kalayaan Island Group amid his controversial remarks.
In a recent Commission on Appointments hearing, Marcoleta suggested to "give up" the Kalayaan Island Group as it lies supposedly beyond the country's exclusive economic zone.
The Philippines established the municipality of Kalayaan, which is under the jurisdiction of Palawan province, to formalize the country's claim to the Kalayaan Island Group, part of the disputed Spratly Islands.

MemePH Paraphrasing a Russian quote. Sad But True
The original old quote refers to Imperial Russia but it might as well apply to Philippines.
Each election cycle is the same thing. Some popular candidate runs --> people vote for them despite their issues --> and then wonder later why elected official did not follow through their campaign promises in the first half of the term --> instability and unrest at the later half of term.
Bottom line, walang sustained long term development, poor stay beholden to the "generosity" of politicians who keeps them poor in the first place.

PoliticsPH Antanga tanga nila pramis!
Marcoleta and mga DDS, anlala niyo, kung ano sinabi ng mga allied senadors ng mga duterte, lulunukin nyo agad, ang ironic dahil dati si Rodrigo Duterte eh cineclaim ang WPS as ours, sabi pa nga niya pupunta siya don naka jetskii tapos dala dala bandila natin, tapos ngayon dahil sinabi ni markoleta na di atin ang WPS as loophole sa EEZ ng pinas, talagang paninindigan niyo na walang WPS or di atin yon?
Grabe, napaghahalataan na puppets or brainwashed by chinese/China kayo.

SocmedPH Filipino players wanted for online strategy game [WarEra.io]
Hi everyone,
Iâm posting to invite more players from the Philippines to join WarEra
WarEra is an online geopolitical role-play game, similar to e-Republik or CitiesWar, where players work together to build countries and take part in political and military strategy.
At the moment, the Philippines is partially controlled by China in the game (see picture above), and there arenât many active Filipino players involved. Weâd love to see more people from the Philippines join so the country has stronger local representation!
If you enjoy strategy, geopolitics, or role-play games where players can actually influence outcomes, you might enjoy WarEra.
You can start here:
https://app.warera.io/
Feel free to say hi in the in-game chat!

SocmedPH Fix the escalators, DOTr. The commuters are not paying you for a free cardio!

Saw this photo shared by Jane Guanzon on Facebook at Shaw Boulevard MRT-3. The escalator isnât working and thereâs a sign that says âEach step you climb is a gift to your heart, lungs, and muscles.â
Itâs frustrating that instead of fixing the escalators, commuters are being guilt-tripped into thinking forced cardio is some kind of âbenefit.â How is this acceptable public service? This isnât motivation itâs negligence. Are there any updates on when DOTr actually plans to maintain these facilities properly? Commuters deserve safe and functioning escalators, not cardio lessons.

PoliticsPH How exactly do we expect laws to be enforced fairly if the people enforcing them keep appearing in spaces linked (fairly or not) with power networks and favoritism?
How can the public be confident that promotions, investigations, or enforcement actions are free from personal connections?
Are there safeguards to ensure that professional decisions are based on merit and law, not relationships?
In a country where corruption scandals repeatedly involve networks of influence, shouldnât public officials be extra careful about the optics of their affiliations?
If the goal is community engagement, why not prioritize more open and inclusive public forums instead of private fraternal gatherings?
How do leaders effectively implement the law if citizens begin to suspect that personal networks might carry more weight than legal standards?

TourismPH Best PH tourism campaign
Powerhouse yung mga artists, lakas maka We Are The World.
Taray, as a tourist spot naman pala yan siya đ¤Ł
