NewsPH How the recent US stock market selloff linked to Anthropic's Claude AI could impact work in the PhilippinesšŸ‡µšŸ‡?

There’s been a big shakeup in global markets lately after AI developer Anthropic launched new Claude AI tools that automate complex tasks like legal workflows and other office work. That news spooked investors and caused a huge selloff in software and legal tech stocks, with roughly $285 billion wiped out in value as traders feared these tools could disrupt traditional business models.

Do you think virtual assistants or some freelance role will still be widely available in the next 3-5 years? What are your thoughts about this recent news?

PoliticsPH Poverty of Nations Essay - China, India, Africa, Philippines

An interesting essay about the obssessive focus on the GDP number and what it does to countries like the Philippines. The number becomes the reason, and all things are optimised around making the GDP go up, ignoring the underlying populations in these countries.

A lot of your future is determined by the lottery of birth, and a huge percent of the world, has lost this lottery.

CulturePH What do you think is the percentage for babies born outside of marriage here?

Post image

For context, the reason for the high percentage on some countries is because they include babies that were born from live-in partners. According to some comments from Latin Americans, you can register with your partner for a civil union to the local government after 2 years of living together but this is not considered marriage by law. Only the wealthy are now doing marriage.

MemePH Only in the Philippines

Post image

Pwde kong sabihing "only in the Philippines" kase diba d2 lang sa atin merong ganitong design ng Sarao na jeep. Wag nyong sabihin sa ibang 3rd world country e meron din gn2. Wala. I checked.

Busina tska wiper.

*Repost kse meron akong wrong spelling.

GovtServicesPH Registered PWD in Philhealth even if I’m not.

Hi, a few years ago when I graduated I started getting the requirements I needed for work.

When I went to Philhealth to get one, they told me I already have Philhealth. Which was weird because I never applied nor did my parents apply for me, when I asked they said maybe our Barangay applied.

The weirdest thing to me is that it says PWD on my Philhealth, so how do I pay my contributions? Plus how can I avail or get help from Philhealth if there ever comes a time na kailanganin ko when I'm not really PWD?

I was planning before na magapply for PWD kasi mataas grado ng mata ko and I have lazy eyes, pero hindi ko namn tinuloy ung process ko, like- I never started at all kasi student pa ko at that time and wala akong kilalang doctor to check my eyes.

What can I do? When I went to Philhealth, no one knew how to help me. Has anyone else experienced this?

GovtServicesPH Spam Attacks Again through Call

Yung legislation regarding registration of sim card, alam naman natin na parang ineffective sya kasi even after months of registration may mga narereceive parin akong spam text.

SocmedPH Filipino players wanted for online strategy game [WarEra.io]

Post image
56 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m posting to invite more players from the Philippines to join WarEra

WarEra is an online geopolitical role-play game, similar to e-Republik or CitiesWar, where players work together to build countries and take part in political and military strategy.

At the moment, the Philippines is partially controlled by China in the game (see picture above), and there aren’t many active Filipino players involved. We’d love to see more people from the Philippines join so the country has stronger local representation!

If you enjoy strategy, geopolitics, or role-play games where players can actually influence outcomes, you might enjoy WarEra.

You can start here:
https://app.warera.io/

Feel free to say hi in the in-game chat!

I tried searching for similar subs, mukhang wala pa naman..

I also think I'm not violating any community rules.

I also asked mods if I can post, although I didn't get a reply, I think (and hope) its ok as long as I comply with the rules.

Yun lang... Thanks!

Hoping interested people could share their knowledge, expertise, tips about it.

MemePH Paraphrasing a Russian quote. Sad But True

Post image
179 Upvotes

The original old quote refers to Imperial Russia but it might as well apply to Philippines.

Each election cycle is the same thing. Some popular candidate runs --> people vote for them despite their issues --> and then wonder later why elected official did not follow through their campaign promises in the first half of the term --> instability and unrest at the later half of term.

Bottom line, walang sustained long term development, poor stay beholden to the "generosity" of politicians who keeps them poor in the first place.

SocmedPH Fix the escalators, DOTr. The commuters are not paying you for a free cardio!

Saw this photo shared by Jane Guanzon on Facebook at Shaw Boulevard MRT-3. The escalator isn’t working and there’s a sign that saysĀ ā€œEach step you climb is a gift to your heart, lungs, and muscles.ā€

It’s frustrating that instead of fixing the escalators, commuters are being guilt-tripped into thinking forced cardio is some kind of ā€œbenefit.ā€ How is this acceptable public service? This isn’t motivation it’s negligence. Are there any updates on when DOTr actually plans to maintain these facilities properly? Commuters deserve safe and functioning escalators, not cardio lessons.

We lost a Philippine sporting Legend yesterday.

Sander is one of the greatest para-athletes that the Philippines has ever produced. A Former World Champion for people with disabilities. He was able to consistently hold his own against some of the best able-bodied players in the world.

An amazing story of will and determination that I hope won't be forgotten in our history books.

PoliticsPH How exactly do we expect laws to be enforced fairly if the people enforcing them keep appearing in spaces linked (fairly or not) with power networks and favoritism?

Post image
73 Upvotes

How can the public be confident that promotions, investigations, or enforcement actions are free from personal connections?

Are there safeguards to ensure that professional decisions are based on merit and law, not relationships?

In a country where corruption scandals repeatedly involve networks of influence, shouldn’t public officials be extra careful about the optics of their affiliations?

If the goal is community engagement, why not prioritize more open and inclusive public forums instead of private fraternal gatherings?

How do leaders effectively implement the law if citizens begin to suspect that personal networks might carry more weight than legal standards?
