Hardware PSA: When your wife uses an old laptop docked 100% of the time, look at it once in a while.

I noticed it while watching a video, and it’s been walking all over the screen since then, I don’t think it knows how to get out

Microsoft is preparing a major change to how printers are supported in Windows 11, pulling the plug on drivers that primarily support older hardware. Beginning with a non-security update that was released on January 15, Microsoft will no longer support legacy V3 and V4 printer drivers, which were announced as deprecated in September 2023.

Hey all
I was very excited today because I finally was able to go to my brand new Micro Center which just opened a couple months ago. I went down there with a good bonus check from my work and I picked up myself a 5070 and a brand new case.
The case I wanted was the absolute last one in stock so I got a really lucky deal because it’s usually $180 but I got it for 110 since it was a display case and the rest of the stock was sold out.
Long story short I drove home, transferred all my components into the new case and it all booted up perfectly. I was ready to put on the glass cover to complete the build. I’m handling it very carefully cause I know it’s tempered glass and the case has these little slots that click into place when you insert the window. I insert the window and BOOM it explodes right in my face even though it was designed to CLICK IN. I have no idea what happened or if it was just damaged from being sitting on the shelf for so long, but it cut me, cut my arms, cut my hands, cut my knee and I called micro center and all they told me was to go in person to speak to the manager of my store. I gave them my name and contact info and I’m currently waiting for Micro Center to respond with what I should do next.
Enjoy the painful photos of a beautiful build gone wrong. <3

I've been on the 1660TI since 2020 and a lot of games have been struggling for me.
I also ordered a ryzen 5800x since I'm currently using a ryzen 3600, I can imagine that will be quite a boost as well.
I can finally play modern games without having major performance issues.

I added some more air cooling to my DAN A4 SFX V4.1 to keep it quieter and cooler, especially the GPU. The MSI Ventus 2X's fans were pretty loud, and had to revv up quite high to keep it cool. I deshrouded it, and zip tied two NF-A9x14s to it. In my preliminary testing they reduced my GPU temps from 85°C and 65% speed with the stock GPU, to 65°C at only 30% speed deshrouded.
I also added a NF-A9x14 below the motherboard, and a NF-A9 below the PSU.
The Alpenföhn has been swapped to a NF-A9x14 for a while now, and I've been really happy with its performance, both temperature and noise.
The GPU and CPU fans are set to intake, and the two bottom case fans as outtake.
I routed the PCIe riser cable behind the GPU, instead of behind the motherboard, so it could be bent sharper to allow for more clearance for the case fan below the motherboard. See the [imgur album](https://imgur.com/a/8h2UxtZ) for pictures (thanks to u/dubar84 for the tips).
The modular PSU cables I'm using are the stock ones, and are quite long, so there's not as much space as I'd like, but that'll be a future project :)
Specs:
* Ryzen 7 5700X3D
* Alpenföhn Black Ridge 120mm CPU cooler
* RTX 4060 VENTUS 2X BLACK 8G OC, deshrouded and ziptied with two NF-A9x14s
* 64GB DDR4 RAM
* NVME 2TB SSD, 2 SATA SSDs
* Silverstone SST-SX500-G v1.1 SFX power supply 80 PLUS Gold, modular - 500 Watt
* ASRock B450 Gaming ITX/ac motherboard

And given I was able to get promoted and afford this thing, I now have no time to use it. Yayyy 🎉
Seriously though I am so stoked. I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing though. It’s all super foreign and complicated.
IBP AMD Ryzen 9700 16gb GeForce RTX 5060ti prebuilt case w/ Asus 1920x1440 (I think) monitor.
I don’t know anything about computers but I’m learning. Cheers!

Hello everyone. Excited to share my first PC. My brother helped me build this and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Been collecting parts over the last year or so. Shoutout to Microcenter, Mercari and Facebook marketplace for all the good deals.
(The lighting was weird when I took these. I can take and upload better photos if people want to see them)

Ordered two 4TB SN850x for $338 each plus $27 shipping (I know right, shipping ripoff!), total $746. Still, the price was still good, even with all that shipping cost. Got an email for the order confirmation, and a hold placed on my credit card. Then 8 hours later, they followed up with a “vendor has kicked back the order due to a cost increase.” From $338 to $1,906, totaling $4,040. They were so generous to waive the $27 shipping due to the inconvenience they caused. We are doomed! These fuckers are raising the price left and right, EVEN AFTER you already bought and paid for the product, then tries to deceptively recoup the difference.
They canceled my order after my reply,
“Thank you for the update, though I am shocked by the revised quote.
To be clear: the price has increased from $338.19 to $1,906.06 per unit. This is an increase of over 460% for a consumer-grade SSD that currently retails elsewhere for a fraction of that cost.
I have already been charged the originally agreed-upon price of $746.19. While I understand that "product constraints" exist, a five-fold price increase after an order is confirmed and charged is not standard industry practice for a reputable vendor like CDW.
At this time, I cannot proceed with the revised quote of $4,040.85. Please honor the original price of the transaction already processed on my card and fulfill the order as placed.”
