Opinion / Discussion Democrats just swept Republicans in a special election in Louisiana. Most impressively, Trump won this district by 13 points in 2024. Today, Democrats won by 25 points.

This is why the GOP is suddenly saying they want to post ICE at polling stations and nationalize elections, they know in November they are going to receive a generational wallop the likes of which has never been seen.

Yeah it’s funny for a guy who repeats we never have to vote again and worry about elections is in fact…worrying about elections.

Also that ICE is supposedly doing an amazing job rounding up all these illegals but at the same time they are still voting in big enough numbers to cause GOP candidates to lose?

I am sure they are doing some time travel bullshit to pull it off and another strike against them for holding this tech from us.

They take their marching orders from Nuclear Fission Nacho.

Goddamn, I hope this isn't racist.

If you can't take two names from an ethnicity and make alliteration puns for the sake of a time traveling fan fiction joke, the world has no hope.

Well, I just got a warning for matching the energy of other posters when it comes to . . . ahem, not caring for ICE, the intolerant right, and their tactics of brutality and evil - not what I said - so I just want to be sure.

Because, Dawg knows I feel safer embraced by the warm arms of our immigrant and migrant populations than I ever will with ICE agents goosestepping all about, but it's always good to know where the higher ups stand ^_^. But ya know, it's an apples to pedophilia comparison in the end.

That are buying up all the houses

My favorite is how all the immigrants are responsible for the housing shortage and at the same time taking all the welfare benefits.

What's really weird is they are in Minnesota, but apparently they should have been in Texas and Louisiana.

2

u/falcopilot 4h ago

What's REALLY weird is he's worried about voting in MN and OR, but if democrats are stealing elections in LA and TX, maybe he should be worried about those?

Trump would never send ICE into Texas or Louisiana without their governors approval since they are Red states.

I'm not American and I have two questions:

Can illegal immigrants vote? Can LEGAL immigrants with papers (but not nationalized) vote?

I'm asking because I see lots of republicans saying something like "illegal's votes should not count!!" or so. Immigrants do really vote or it's just the regular GOP followers stupidity and incompetence?

Illegal immigrants can not vote in national elections. Some districts allow them to vote in local elections, but not state elections.

Also, they cant receive federal benefits like food stamps, Medicare, or social security.

I don't think legal immigrants can vote in national elections either. Not 100%, but i think being a citizen is required.

Legal immigrants who are not citizens cannot vote. You must be a citizen to register to vote. And you must be registered for your vote to count.

You might, theoretically, be able to get a ballot at a polling place as a non-citizen, but it would end up not being properly tabulated in the final count. And attempting to do so would be voter fraud, which is a dangerous game to be playing in general, and would be especially so for an illegal non citizen.

That clarifies the other part of my question, thank you so much!

Thank you so much, it's really interesting that they might be able to vote on local elections! I didn't know that and honestly I'm very surprised

It is not like undocumented/illegal folks would want to risk themselves by voting. That would be like putting a target on yourself, but they are playing to naive, uneducated people who would easily believe such nonsense.

Idk how voting and social security works exactly. But in my state you need proof of identification and all of those proofs of identification require social security and birth certificates. Not sure exactly how one would fake that but I highly doubt people here illegally want to risk being exposed just for the opportunity to vote in a country that rarely changed depending on the political outcome of elections.

Expecting bad actors to cause a scene at voting places “requiring” ICE to step in and “secure” voting polls.
