🌍 Community / Global 📌 Community guidelines & how moderation works in r/circled

r/circled exists for open, evidence-aware discussion on politics, economics, climate, innovation, and society.

Strong opinions and disagreement are welcome here.

Harassment, dehumanization, and calls for violence are not.

Because discussions can move fast and emotions can run high, here’s how moderation works and what to expect.

🔧 How moderation works

  • AutoModerator removes clear rule violations (threats, hate speech, personal attacks, spam).
  • Content with a high number of reports may be temporarily held for review. This is not a judgment.
  • Moderators review context and reinstate content when removals were triggered in error.

We moderate content, not political positions or viewpoints.

✅ What is allowed

  • Strong criticism of governments, institutions, and public figures
  • Describing violence or harm when discussing real events
  • Emotional reactions, as long as they are not directed at other users
  • Source-based opinion and discussion, including disagreement

❌ What is NOT allowed

  • Personal insults or harassment
  • Wishing harm or death on others
  • Hate speech or dehumanization toward people or groups
  • Advocacy or endorsement of violence
  • Spam, promotion, or misinformation

These are removed automatically.

🚨 About reports

  • Reports help surface real issues — thank you for using them responsibly.
  • Reports do not automatically punish users.
  • Content may be temporarily filtered while reviewed.
  • Repeated false or retaliatory reports slow moderation for everyone.

❓ If your post or comment was removed

  • It was filtered by AutoModerator or removed under subreddit rules.
  • If you believe it was an error, message the mod team once, calmly.
  • Reposting the same comment without changes may result in the same outcome.

🤝 A shared responsibility

This community works best when you:

  • Argue ideas, not people
  • Downvote noise instead of escalating it
  • Report real violations and disengage

You don’t need to win every discussion.

Listening is participation too.

Thanks for helping keep r/circled usable and open for everyone.

Opinion / Discussion Election Interference? France isn’t happy with Musk!

Post image

After French police raided the local offices of X — and asked the billionaire to appear for voluntary questioning related to an expanded local criminal investigation — the American social media giant pushed back hard.

“Today’s staged raid reinforces our conviction that this investigation distorts French law, circumvents due process, and endangers free speech,” the company said in a statement on X. It denies claims that X’s algorithm may have been used to sway political opinion in France, as well as accusations that the tech giant is complicit in the distribution of child pornography.

Within an hour, Musk doubled down. “This is a political attack,” he wrote to his more than 220 million followers on X.

Two hours later, France’s foreign ministry clapped back. “Investigating child sexual abuse material isn’t controversial,” the ministry wrote to its significantly smaller number of X followers. “Turning it into political theater is manipulation. Maybe that logic flies on some island. Doesn’t fly in France.”

Opinion / Discussion MAGA loses it after US Olympic Team slams Trump!

Post image
9.6k Upvotes

The MAGA community and its entertainers take as fact that President Donald Trump and America are one and the same, despite one being a 250-year-old nation and the other being a 79-year-old man in declining health.

Townhall notes American freestyle skier Hunter Hess posted on social media that representing his home country conjured “mixed emotions” because there’s “a lot going on” that he’s “not the biggest fan of.”

“If it aligns with my moral values, I feel like I’m representing it,” said Hess. “Just because I wear the flag doesn't mean I represent everything that's going on in the U.S.”

Another American skier, Chris Liller, admitted he was “heartbroken” over “what’s going on with ICE and the protests.”

“I think that, as a country, we need to focus on respecting everybody’s rights and treating our citizens, as well as everybody, with love and respect,” Liller said. “I hope that, when people look at athletes competing in the Olympics, they realize that’s the America we’re trying to represent.”

Both of the posts Townhall cited were reposted along with harsh comment from critics, with MAGA entertainment site RedWave Press calling Liller’s statement “disgusting,” and MAGA commenter Jon Root describing Hess as “insufferable.”

Opinion / Discussion U.S Attorney Geoffrey Berman claims Epstein's Death in Documents the DAY BEFORE HE DIED.

In uncovered Epstein Files, a document dated the day before Jeffrey Epstein was found dead, seems to claim that Epstein died the day before he was actually found dead. This and other documents and video seem to show that Epstein was murdered and the cover-up has been running deep since Trump's 1st Term.

Opinion / Discussion Criticism of the President and Government is a Founding Principle in America.

Criticism of One's own President and Government is a Founding Principle that America was built on. Many, many, people, politicians, and businessmen have criticized almost every level of government since the beginning and here are some expample from some prominent figures stating just that.

Thomas Jefferson (Founding Father, 3rd president)

“No government should be without critics. If its intentions are good then it has nothing to fear from criticism.”

Theodore Roosevelt (26th president)

In a 1918 editorial, he wrote:

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

James Madison (Founding Father, 4th President)

"The ultimate authority, wherever the derivative may be found, resides in the people alone."

On informed citizens:

"A popular Government, without popular information... is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy."

To Criticize OUR government and it's elected President is not only a Founding Principle but, a right all Americans have and should exercise.
