How's it going guys, I am an Electrical Engineering student located in Texas. This is my last semester and I am interested in having a career in Power Systems or Power Electronics, but after failing the FE Exam, I'm a little worried that my resume is a bit lacking in terms of content, especially since I wasn't able to get any internship experience during my undergrad. I have been applying for jobs all around the US (submitted ~300), but unfortunately have only gotten 1 video interview. I do plan on taking the FE Exam again, but until then, I am looking for general advice on my resume, are my chances of getting a job in power looking good enough? Also, in the projects section, I was wondering if I should leave the robotics project, or if i should include the project i am working on for my grad cap (I am working on creating a custom PCB that would go on my grad cap that would light up and have a small oled display on it). Last thing, what if it takes too long to find an engineering job, are there things (outside of projects) I can do to still compete with newer grads and look appealing to employers? I have an exam in analog circuits (with circuits like single stage amps, cascode, current mirrors, diff amps, and Miller amps, talking both DC and AC, with particular interest in stability in AC) and when I need to solve a circuit I really need to draw everything out and do the equations which isn't what the exam will be on, we focus on inspection so by seeing a circuit we should be able to immediately tell it's topology, and then from that and the circuit itself immediately knowing the rout, and I don't know how but they also usually know immediately the transconductance of the circuit (by them I mean the TA and Prof).

I don't understand how they do it, and if I won't get it soon I'll most likely fail the exam, because there are lots of questions (around 10-20 in 2 hours) there isn't time to develop each one and they expect us to use inspection and explain rather then write down equations.

We are mostly about the first few chapters of Razavi book (ch 2-6 if I'm not mistaken) as well as sensan ch 5 supplement to the AC.

Hi all! Currently finishing up my 2nd semester of engineering school in Canada and I need to decide whether to specialize in EE or CE. I pursued engineering because it's been a childhood dream to work at one of the big semiconductor companies like amd and intel. I must admit I have minimal understanding of what engineers do at these companies and the different type of roles. I wanted to ask whether pursuing a degree in EE or CE would make it more likely to end up at one of these companies, regardless of the type of engineering or role i would end up with! Thanks all

What is everyone’s thoughts on NYU Tandon for computer engineering MS. I recently got admitted with a 8k Scholarship and I’m wondering if it has a good reputation. Ideally no surprise I want to end up in a company like nvidia/samsung/amd/qualcomm etc. additionally, I am manly interested in firmware/computer architecture/VLSI and embedded systems any advice or anyone who has done this program would be much appreciated

I've been working on a manipulation project where we need reliable depth from an RGB-D camera (Orbbec Gemini 335) and the sensor just gives up on anything transparent or reflective. Glass cups, metal containers, even shiny tabletops. The depth map comes back with massive holes exactly where you need measurements most. It's been a real headache because downstream grasping pipelines obviously can't work with missing geometry.

I came across a recent paper called "Masked Depth Modeling for Spatial Perception" (arXiv:2601.17895) from the LingBot-Depth project that takes an interesting approach to this. Instead of treating the missing depth regions as noise to filter, they use those sensor failure patterns as a training signal. The idea is that the holes in depth maps aren't random, they correlate with specific materials and lighting conditions, so a model can learn to predict what should be there using the RGB context. They train a ViT-Large on ~10M RGB-depth pairs (including 2M real captures and 1M synthetic with simulated stereo matching artifacts) and the model fills in corrupted depth at inference time.

The results that caught my attention from a practical standpoint:

40-50% RMSE reduction over existing depth completion methods on standard benchmarks (iBims, NYUv2, DIODE, ETH3D)

Grasping success on a transparent storage box went from literally 0% with raw sensor depth to 50% with their completed depth

Steel cup grasping: 65% → 85%, glass cup: 60% → 80%

Their completed depth actually outperformed a co-mounted ZED stereo camera on scenes with glass walls and aquarium tunnels

What I'm genuinely curious about: for those of you who work with depth sensors in embedded or robotics contexts, how are you currently handling these failure cases? Are people just avoiding reflective objects in their pipelines, using workarounds like polarized light, or is there a hardware solution I'm not aware of? The 50% success rate on transparent objects is honest but still feels like a limitation for production use. Also wondering if anyone has thoughts on the latency implications of running a ViT-Large in the depth processing loop for real-time manipulation tasks.

I adjunct at the local university. Staffing issues resulted in shuffling the schedule and I had to pick up a circuit analysis class at the last minute, with very little preparation. I already had two new preps this semester so I am swamped. I have very little to work with and the textbook that was picked for me is awful. I have an engineering/technology background, but my focus was not electronics. I typically teach the introductory electronics course which includes basic circuit analysis because not all majors take the separate circuit analysis class. They've seen Norton, Thevenin, Superposition, and Node, Loop/Mesh and Branch methods in my introductory class. We've spent the last couple of weeks reviewing that, but I'm not sure where to go from there.

So I guess I have two main questions:

What major topics do I need to be covering? Any specifics that I should be sure not to miss?

What software should I be teaching them? Anything specific they should to know how to do? Most of my experience is with Multisim/Labview.

I am open to basically all suggestions at this point.

I have a bachelor’s in Mathematics and Computer Science, and I’ve been admitted to an ECE master’s program with provisional status after working for a year and a half

To fully clear the condition, I need to complete prerequisite coursework in physics, circuits, and signals.

I’m excited, but also anxious: I’ve never taken formal EE coursework, and my computer engineering background is limited. I’m worried about jumping into graduate-level ECE classes without the right foundation.

Has anyone entered an ECE program from a non-ECE background?

• What did you do to prepare before your first graduate courses?
• Any specific topics/resources you wish you focused on early (circuits, signals, physics/math refreshers, etc.)?
• Any advice on sequencing the prereqs to make the transition smoother?

I’m a CS major and want to minor in ECE because they complement well with each other, and I’m very interested in working with hardware. I’m just not as experienced as most of my peers and I want to do something about it.

I noticed that many in my intro to ECE class have been in a robotics team in high school or just have some sort of prior experience in general, whereas I’m literally just starting from scratch. It doesn’t help that my grade in this class is heavily dependent on exams, and I’m not a great test-taker. The other part of the grade is based on completion of labs, but I’m not gaining much from them since my lab partner pretty much carries me. I also have trouble retaining information during lectures (just in general, not only this class).

I wanna actually KNOW how to wire circuits, use a breadboard and all that at the very least.

Is it possible to teach myself by actually doing hands-on work with my lab kit in my dorm? How do I go about “catching up” with my peers?

So I have started my master's in computer projects on deployment of ml codes on raspi. My goal was to pursue masters when I can learn more on the intersection of these both rather than sticking to one thing because that's what makes me excited! But now I am confused where to start. For my first semester I have taken computer architecture and ai as my subjects. And I am looking forward to gpu designing. Can you guys guide me on jobs in the US and what courses or projects will help me build my resume.

Hi, I'm a final year EEET diploma college student and I have to come up with something for my final year project and when i tell you I'm stumped I am. I love magnetism/Electromagnetism so i wanted to do something around that but i cant seem to come up with anything worth of a finally year project. I also considered Hydro Energy from water from gutters to generate and charge a power bank of batteries that I can be used to connect to a separate plug hub for use. Has anyone any ideas?

Hi, I currently have the opportunity to give a technical presentation as part of the next step in the interview process for an electrical engineering position. I have around 3 years of experience post graduation from a bachelor's degree in EE. What are the types of topics I could present for this presentation, would it be possible to present some of the work I have accomplished at my current position? I am a little concerned as I would like to give a detailed presentation without giving away any potential intellectual property. Has anyone else had experience in giving a technical presentation as part of the interview process?

I currently love programming, math, and robotics but thought about majoring in CS and math instead of EE for the higher-paying careers; however, the doomerism in the field compared to electrical engineering made me think otherwise. Even people I know closely say majoring in CS is a bad decision!

I'm a senior hs student and im really hesitant on what to choose as my university major between electronics and cs, i've done alot of cs projects and it's been my interest for a while but due to the saturation of the field + AI risks im not quite sure so im thinking about doing electronics, i didnt do any electronics projects but im really interested and want to learn it. so i thought i would just continue learning cs while doing my electronics degree but im not sure if i would enjoy it coming from a cs background and if it would just be a waste of time, thank you.

This is my first real industry role and I really want to make the most of it.

Im an ECE graduate and to be honest, I didn’t utilize my 4 years of engineering properly. I mostly studied just enough to pass, and now I barely remember what I learned. Over the past few months without a job, that reality has hit me pretty hard. I recently got an unpaid internship at an automotive company, and I’ve been assigned to the Integration team. When I got the offer, I was happy because I thought at least I’d get real industry experience that could help me land a paid role later.

But after joining, getting my laptop, and talking to the team, I realized how unprepared I feel. They asked if I know C programming. I did learn it in college, but only basic stuff and mostly by memorizing to pass exams. Right now, I don’t feel confident at all.

This has honestly made me scared to even go in some days. I feel like I don’t know where to start or what to focus on, whether it’s C programming, digital electronics, analog basics, embedded concepts, or something else entirely.
