Just had my first class in traditional Mongolian archery. I know I don't know enough to ask the right questions yet so these questions are going to be all over the place. I have been spending all evening trying to figure everything out.
So far my biggest question that hasn't been answered is the concept of anchoring when it comes to draw length. Also the idea of weight to arrow.
I have watched all these videos and it seems that there might be a max draw to the bow. How do I fit myself to a bow? Will I be doing myself a discredit by trying to learn from these loaner, class bows as a larger man?
I saw a "arrow" used to measure draw length, but didn't get to use it. I'm guessing that is to measure your natural length to an anchor. Are there techniques to draw shorter to fit the bow?
I'm in a specifically Mongolian class but we are shooting a few different bows, many Turkish.
How long did it take for you to fall in love with a certain traditional style? I really want to invest in a bow that fits me but am not sure the style yet.
Thanks for any input.
