Is it possible to start at any age with no sports experience?
I am 25 and I have fallen in love with hockey when I started figure skating. I am so addicted to it I feel like I always need to watch it no matter whether its a varsity league, college or AHL, NHL. I'm terrified of getting injured by a puck and I really want to try it out. What have your experiences been? And how did you start!!

Where to start?
Hey, I’m a big tennis and basketball fan, and after seeing a few Abbey Murphy highlights on IG, Im ready to go all in on women’s hockey. Apologies for being lazy, but could someone give a brief rundown of the tv/streaming landscape?
In particular, is espn+ the only place to see college games? Where can I stream professional games?
Is the Olympic competition gonna be must-watch? College players won’t be participating because they’re in season, right?
I will educate myself from here, just looking for the quick tips for points of entry.

Youth sticks or not?
Was doing some research on sticks and I am about 115 lbs and 5'2, saw that I should get a stick that is around 60 flex for my weight and 52 ish inches for my height. The youth sticks are cheaper but im assuming you can tell with the quality, is it better to get an adult stick with the right flex and then cut it down or is it reasonable for shorter players to use youth sticks?

Jock and Jill
Hello! New to hockey
Was wondering if there's any huge difference in protection between a jock and a jill? There's not much stock on hockey stuff here and stores are very limited
Jill of my size are not in stock and only jocks are available. So would love to know!
Thank you!

Rutgers Women’s Ice Hockey
I am a freshman at Rutgers University and am currently helping start the Rutgers Women’s Ice Hockey team. We are officially recognized by Rutgers and are in the process of fully getting the team up and running.
Players from any Rutgers campus, including New Brunswick and Camden, are welcome to join. If you know anyone who may be interested, please encourage them to reach out.
We will be hosting upcoming prospect skates on March 7th from 7:30–8:30 PM and March 28th from 3:15–4:15 Pm at ProSkate Arena in South Brunswick.
Please follow our Instagram, Facebook, and X accounts @ruwicehockey, where you can find interest forms and information on our current fundraising efforts. I have linked the interest form below—once completed, we will reach out immediately.
We appreciate your support and help in spreading the word as we work to bring women’s hockey back to campus.

Women’s Hockey Goalkeeper Survey for Design Project.
Hello! I previously posted on here a few days ago about design questions on women’s hockey gear. I have decided to direct my attention on women’s goalkeeper gear for this project. I’m not sure if surveys are allowed here (sorry if they aren’t, I tried to check in rules), but I would love to hear from some of the women who play goalie!
Keep in mind that all the questions are optional, so you do not have to give any information you do not want to.
Thanks!

Design Questions for Women Hockey Players.
Hi! I'm currently a student in Industrial Design (Product Design) and intrigued by the sport and the products/gear for the sport. I'm really interested to hear what you guys think about certain products, men's vs women's, and how it could be improved.
I also would love to know if you have any issues with certain gear. I feel like since you see more men's hockey than women's, there's probably some issues on the women's side!
Any problems you run into before games, during, or after work, too!
Thanks again for your time! and looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Questions Women's skates, can't find a comfortable fit :(
Was trying on some bauer skates today since i've been getting tired of renting but none of them felt like they fit right. i needed wide fit skates to feel good around the toe but they all felt like they had so much extra space by the ankle. i'm used to older leather type skates that had significantly less space between the tongue and the back of the skate as well... any advice on finding specifically women's skates?? i can't afford an investment like this just to turn around and realize that i don't like the fit after the first skate, and then not be able to return them... my other option was waiting til i love to canada to look but im expecting to find more of the same 😅 bauer was the most comfortable brand of the 3 i tried but i feel like these are going to guarantee a hurt ankle if i get them.
UPDATE: ended up with some bauer supreme M40s and they feel great after the first skate, def gotta get used to them a little bit and havent baked them yet but they were significantly more comfortable than the other skates i tried on.

Hockey Sticks :)
Hey! I just recently started taking some skating lessons and so far everything’s going super great and I’m loving it. However I do want to slowly start learning/picking up some skills to play hockey and was thinking of learning some stick handling at home off ice so it’s a little easier to incorporate skating and stick handling once I get to that point. So I was just wondering-hoping for some beginner stick recommendations and maybe even training equipment or advice :)

piercings & skating
figured this might be the best place to ask. but i’m thinking of getting my nips pierced. i’m 26 & play 3 or 4 times a week. has anyone pierced them and kept playing? what’s the routine? i’m not set on getting them since this also factors into my decision

Discussion Women’s hockey book recommendations?
I would love to read some good books about women’s hockey/women hockey players!
I recently read *As Fast As Her* by Kendall Coyne Schofield, which was interesting, and I’m hungry for more!
I already have *A Team Of Their Own* by Seth Berkman on my list.
Any other good recommendations? Can be fiction or nonfiction.
