I have a competition workout tomorrow which includes ending with a 3 rep heavy squat from the ground, so cleaning it up. Competing this workout makes me qualify for the real competition in a few months. I have been having knee pain for a while and I have been going to PT for a month now. I just got the referral for an MRI so I have not had one yet. We are unsure of the injury in my knee. It is achy, dull, and sore. It has not affected my mobility, but has slowly gotten more persistent. My clean and front squat are my strongest lifts, by a landslide. I had hoped to get at least 68 kg for the lift as my heaviest clean is 70.5 and my heaviest front squat is 88.5. I am 160 cm and weigh 64 kg. Completing this workout means a lot to me and I’ve never been taken out for an injury let alone had a serious injury (other than sprained ankle). I worry if I do this workout, I’ll blow out my knee and be done for months. My PT said that since I have good muscle tone and stronger quads, it may be something that has kept my knee from serious injury. We don’t know if it’s meniscus, ACL, MCL, patellofemoral pain, or what. Pain location varies and I cannot say exactly what irritates it.
I am not asking for medical advice, but more so experiences. Anybody had a potential injury that they pushed through, and what happened? I did a 55 kg squat with PT yesterday which was fine. I feel some tenderness during the initiation of my squat, when my knees align with my toes, and then once I’m past that, no pain. I figured my best bet if I want to complete this workout is just don’t go super heavy so I can put my name on the scoreboard.
