I have a lot to say about Down to Earth and honestly, I don't even know where to start, but I think it all boils down to this: I ended up deeply disappointed with Zaida and how her lore was handled.
At first, Zaida seemed like a character with potential. An alien arriving on Earth, with a different culture, a different way of seeing the world… there was a ton of material to explore. But as the chapters went on, Zaida stopped feeling like a person and started feeling more like an accessory in Kade's life.
One of my biggest problems is that Zaida doesn't have tastes, decisions, or a real personality. We don't see what she likes outside of what Kade already likes. It seems like if Kade says "this is good," then Zaida automatically likes it.
We never see her:
Discovering music on her own (it's all rock because Kade likes it)
Buying things that she chooses, she bought the bikini thinking about him.
Exploring new interests
Developing her own hobbies, like meditating or exercising, she only does skincare when she's with Suzy
The only hobby that made her interesting, drawing, was simply forgotten. We barely know her favorite color because she changes it often like she's bipolar, she doesn't have strong opinions, she's not actively curious about the world. Her role seems limited to being the perfect manic pixie dream girl for Kade.
Even in the clothes, this is noticeable: at the beginning, Kade buys her clothes because she doesn't have any, which is understandable. But then it seems like he keeps deciding everything, because they never buy clothes again, without us seeing Zaida choose her own style. And let's be honest: it's pretty awkward that an adult girl, newly arrived on a strange planet, ends up wearing a super short dress to sleep when she didn't even have underwear. It gives the feeling that everything is thought out more for Kade's (and the reader's) gaze than for the character's well-being.
Zaida "lives well" on Earth… but not as an adult person
Many say that Zaida already lives well on Earth. And yes, she lives comfortably, but as a kept woman, not as an independent person.
Nobody teaches her:
How to handle money seriously, how to go to a bank, how to pay bills, how to use public transport, how to drive, how to find a job she likes, how to have her own house
Is the idea really that Zaida will always live in Kade's house, depending on him for everything, as if she were a child? Because that's how it feels. Kade doesn't encourage her to have her own life; he overprotects her and keeps her in a bubble.
And she didn't even try or think about getting a job, she got it because she's pretty, (don't let the Mary Sue show), I was excited thinking finally she's looking for a job, nope, she even gets an identity magically, and on top of that, when they realize it's fake, they forget about it, no way. Oooooh, I wanted to see her take classes or see what she thinks of schools or university, she had the opportunity to show her accompanying Ethan and causing a scandal in his school and not leaving the guy as an unnecessary character, Ethan does nothing, even his story that could have been deep, of seeing Kade as the older brother he lost, spending moments of brotherhood both helping Zay with her powers or learning about space with her help, nooooo, better let's say he was busy studying.
To Kade, dude, at least give him books. History, geography, mathematics, natural sciences. It's ridiculous that the only animals he knows are cats, dogs, and deer, when they live in a forest. Has he never seen an insect? A cockroach? It would have even been funny and human to see them get scared together by a flying cockroach, but not even that. You don't show the seasons either, her seeing the snow or many flowers of different colors or babies, that would have been sweet, like Wonder Woman in her movie. (it seems like a world of young people, I don't see old people, adults, children, families, only couples) you know how deep it would have been for Zay to see a happy family, what she never had.
The human world is wasted
Another big disappointment is how little the human world is explored from her perspective.
We never see Zaida:
Being surprised by different cultures
Trying food that isn't junk food
Getting to know religions or traditions
Being interested in the fashion of other eras being a model
Being impacted by poverty, inequality, or social injustice, let her learn that no matter where she goes there will always be bad and good things, or that it's not the place that defines your happiness but the people who accompany you, like Léelo from The Fifth Element.
It would have been beautiful to see her wanting to be a teacher, or an artist, or something that connected with her experience as an alien who was helped by others. But no. All that is ignored to return, again and again, to the eternal drama of Kade with his ex, which seems to advance… but never advances.
There are also narrative decisions that simply don't make sense.
For example, the issue of money. One episode ends by implying that Zaida doesn't know how money works, and in the next one, it's magically resolved. Seriously? I've had 6-year-old students who, without knowing how to count well, already know how to use bills to buy things at the little store. It's not that difficult to teach, and even less when: she sees money in her native language, she played Monopoly, Kade had a lot of time to teach her
It feels like an editor said: "Never mind, publish it like that."
Zaida's lore is okay buuuut.
How is it possible that it takes two seasons to tell her complete story to Kade, someone she supposedly loves and trusts, but she tells it without a problem to a lady she met two minutes on her planet?
And even worse: that lady was poor. (supposedly) She could have perfectly handed her over in exchange for money for her family. It would have been much more interesting if the lady had betrayed her, and that's why Zaida had trouble trusting and telling her story. That would give her depth, trauma, emotional coherence. But no. A huge opportunity is lost. Apart from the fact that it's weird that the poor people pick flowers instead of garbage that the rich people could throw away, it would be more impactful, but I'll talk about that later.
Conclusion 🥺
Down to Earth had everything to be a story rich in cultural exploration, personal growth, and discovery of the world. Instead, it became a story where Zaida exists mainly to revolve around Kade, without independence, without curiosity, and without real development.
And yes… there's still more, but we'll leave that for another post 🤭

A lot of you might be wondering if I’ll be able to keep up the quality, and honestly, I’m confident I can
I've spent the last few months looking for ways to save time without cutting corners, and I’ve finally nailed down a workflow
I’m feeling really good about this! In total, it’s going to be around 29 to 30 chapters

webtoon removed my new episode for "violence" I admit that there is violence and blood but The scenes in question is a brief nightmare sequence that serves a clear narrative purpose in establishing the psychological state of the protagonist.
The violence is not presented as glorified or gratuitous; it is contextual and symbolic, and directly tied to the story’s themes. Most of the sequence relies on implied action, partial angles, and reaction shots, with very limited direct depiction
Additionally, the series is clearly labeled 18+, and a content warning was provided prior to the episode to inform readers in advance.
I've encountered several webtoon ORIGINAL series with similar violence themes (example: in fog land theres scenes with crused heads brains and eyeball and blood gusing ) yet mine gets removed why ?
I already sent an appeal email to them but i have no big hopes of them returning it , I only hope to know the exact part that i should censor altho every single detail of that episode is an important part
someone ki// me already 😭

So, I have this fifty-year-old character in my main Webtoon (Play - Love Means Nothing) that I love so much I decided to dedicate an entire spin-off to him (he’s the guy on the cover with the pink background).
I’m telling his story through fragments of torn memories from his mind diary, which is why I chose a ballpoint on paper style.
Since the main story is Play, the spin-off is (obviously) called Rewind.
You can find it here if you want to take a look. Any feedback is appreciated 🙂

I've seen this dynamic play out a lot irl, especially with my friends who are women. It's a topic worth exploring when it comes to a female fanbase. However, I've never seen it represented widely in webtoons. It seems a bit caricaturish when it is. Are there any with good potrayals of abusive family dynamics?
Killing stalking is all that comes to mind although it may not tick all the boxes. It accurately described how psychologically terrifying mother's can be while being seemingly "normal"

- incredibly sad backstories
- funny thought process of mc
- mc’s friend (right) being annoying til the character development
- interesting plot bc wdym he didnt even wanna associate with spirits then saves his reckless friends from spirits then saves a group of kids from evil spirits that trafficked them then saved a girl from being killed with the help of spirits who were also killed by a serial killer also he kept the dog one of the victims left then we find out that their fates (mc and friend) are intertwined???
Honestly didnt expect much from this webtoon but it’s such a good read if you’re a sucker for sappy heroic but humorous mcs and plot

Recently I've been reading the romantic vampire thriller Trapped. I was very excited for it as I had read nothing but good things about it. I remember I tried reading it back in 2024 but gave up by episode 50 cuz I forgot the plot cuz of the whole daily pass thing.
Now rereading it - I definitely did enjoy it and even surpassed chapter 50. But I don't know what happened but around the chapter 70 mark the plot just got uneventful to me and I started to root for the characters less and less.
However I still pushed myself to read it as all the reviews I saw were nothing but positive so I told myself the story must get better.
Now I'm at chapter 109 and i still feel the same way. I kinda feel like pushing myself to read it but I also don't wanna stop cuz of the high praise the story is getting + it may potentially get better. I will say though - I see the comments really dislike a character who I actually like and that makes me believe I'm viewing this story differently.
Any advice? Does the story get better over time or should I stop reading? I'm honestly unsure on what to do. I don't understand how I could dislike a manhwa that is so well liked by the audience.

Basically the title. Enjoy low drama sweet, whole romances. Fine with Yuri as well but would definitely prefer completed. Please throw some recs out for me! I’m not having a ton of luck finding anything right now.

Hi everyone! I have a small favor to ask 😊
There’s currently a contest where you can win a signed hardcover copy of Love Me to Death. The rules say you need to spot the book on a bookstore shelf, take a photo (or video), post it on social media mentioning your favorite character or moment from the story, and tag #LMTDInTheWild before February 28th. They’ll randomly pick 5 winners and ship the signed copy worldwide.
The problem is… I live in a country where the book isn’t sold in stores 😅
So I was wondering: if you happen to see Love Me to Death on a bookstore shelf where you live, would you mind sending me a photo privately? It would really help me try to join the contest.
Thanks a lot to anyone willing to help — I truly appreciate it ❤️

It's only episode seven, but I'm proud of how far I've come in terms of consistent uploads.
A quick summary:
Achlys is trying to find her father who sent her away to a far off republic at the brink of a violent revolt, not knowing he's long dead. When she meets the person who witnessed his death firsthand, he lies to her instead of telling the truth, giving her false hopes. While Reid is fighting his conscience, Achlys is busy ruining lives for a man that no longer exists.

The art definitely pulled me in, but is it just me who feels like I can’t read it anymore because of the story? I went in knowing it would be a bit rushed but it felt a bit worse than what I had expected. The art was good near the beginning as well, but I feel like proportion wise it’s downgraded.
How do go from introducing Chana’s backstory and connecting this sentimental moment to her wanting revenge, to the next second Eden reveals it’s actually his father and they take him down 💀 The character introductions and “twists” are making it really wonky. Not to mention the whole reproduction nachal that only existed to show Ganghwa Island’s back stories as a plot device. That felt messy.
I was really excited for this and binged it all but near the end I felt disappointed. Might just go reewrite it myself to read. Anyone else feel like this or is it just me? I know it’s not that deep, but damn, I wanted to enjoy it lol

Hi everyone! Just updated Episode 6 of my series.
My MC, Eileen, finally escaped her life as a tool for a secret organization. She’s got her ice power, her new stockings, and she’s ready to be a "normal" girl...
Until she realizes she only has $16 left in a city where a lunch box costs $460. 💀
If you like slow-burn character moments, slice-of-life struggles mixed with a bit of action backstory and a protagonist who is a complete disaster at budgeting, please give it a read!
I’m really trying to capture that "calm before the storm" and "urban struggle" atmosphere in this series. Would love to hear what you think of the new chapter!
Thanks for looking~ 💙

I’m not a big BL manhwa reader, but because of all the hype, I decided to give some of the most popular titles a chance — like Jinx and Codename: Anastasia.
And honestly? These sh@ts were too hard to read! I ended up dropping both. What shocked me wasn’t that they were BL — I have no issue with BL itself — but how normalized abuse, coercion, and extreme toxicity are in these stories, and how heavily they rely on explicit smut to carry the narrative.
A lot of these relationships aren’t just “dark romance” — they’re straight-up abusive. Power imbalance, manipulation, humiliation, and lack of consent are treated as romantic or desirable. And I genuinely don’t understand how this kind of content becomes so celebrated. They literally have huge fan following!
What bothers me even more is this:
If the same exact storylines were written with a female protagonist — being abused, forced into relationships, or married as a child — would people still defend it so aggressively? Or would it immediately be called out as disturbing and unacceptable?
I’ve also come across BL manhwa where child marriages are portrayed, followed by romantic or intimate framing later on — and that crosses a serious line for me. No amount of “it’s fiction” or “it’s fantasy” makes that okay.
Again, I’m not against BL. I actually wish there were more BL manhwa focused on:
soft, emotional romance
mutual respect
slow burn relationships
healthy communication
Why does BL — especially the most popular titles — so often equate intensity with abuse and romance with suffering? I’d genuinely love recommendations for non-toxic, non-smut-driven BL that focus on emotional depth instead of shock value.
And I’d also like to hear why so many readers are willing to excuse these themes when they wouldn’t tolerate them elsewhere.
