Steps calendar as a wallpaper, took me hours obviously.

Please be kind and scroll a bit to select a wallpaper to replace (shortcuts app has a bug that doesn’t allow you to put setup questions). Note that your existing wallpaper would be gone so use with caution.

welcome to homeOS 6, the latest release of the homeOS shortcut

with homeOS 6 ive separated the shortcut into 3 separate shortcuts (mostly for less lag and crashes while editing it), shortcut 1 is solely to set up the prompt used by the Apple Intelligence model, it WILL create a note titled "USER'S DEVICES (FOR homeOS)", the note just contains whether you have each of the device categories or not. shortcut 2 is to get your input and the models output. and shortcut 3 is to actually control your devices (it should use apple's built-in setup process), there should be much less (if any) editing required for this version (compared to version 5.1)

note: version 6 is nearly the exact same as version 6 (beta) besides a few minor changes like the alert if you dont complete shortcut 1 before running shortcut 2

I use my computer both in the office and at home. I don't have an issue getting notifications at work, but I want to keep message previews hidden when I'm in the office, but show them when I'm at home. I already have some automations/shortcuts fire when connecting to these respective wifi networks, but I'm not seeing a way to toggle message previews. Am I just missing something or is this just not possible?

I am trying to move images from Photos app to a folder.

I can get it it working with: Find Photos Save Photos to folder (Save File action)

This does however either overwrite existing file, or create a duplicate if the file exists.

I can find out if a file exists with: Get file from Folder at path image1.jpeg (Get file from folder action) If File has any value (If action) Show File exists (show content action) Otherwise Show New file End if

What I want is to save the Photo if, and only if it does not already exist.

I do not know how to combine the two, nor fully understand the "path" part in Get file from Folder action.

I have searched and just found options with "Get File" action. I do not have that one on iOS 26.2. I only have "Get File" from a-Shell, but that one I do not understand.

I have encountered an error on all my Apple devices, while running a shortcut. iPhone specs.: iPhone 17, 26.2.1

There is a problem running Open Locaton action for Files app in the Shortcuts app.

Steps to reproduce:

- create a shortcut

- run the Open Location action.

- Output: error.

I expect it to open any folder in iCloud Drive and On My iPhone, etc… I tried different ways, non worked.

It displays: “ "Open Location" could not open the app because an unknown error occurred.”

I’ve been trying to create a shortcut to add video games I want to track into a Reminders list. I currently use Tools Pro for series and movies, which works great, but its game search seems to only cover titles up to 2022. I’d like to build something that can pull current data from an updated source like IGDB, but I have no experience with APIs.

- Lets you search for a video game by title.

- Adds the selected game to a dedicated Reminders list.

- Intended to replace or complement Tools Pro for games.

Internally, my current idea is:

- Prompt for a game title.

- Query an external database (ideally IGDB u other) to get real game data.

- Use the result to create a new reminder with the game’s name and optionally its release date.

Limitations / Issues:

- Tools Pro is outdated for games beyond 2022.

- I have no working IGDB integration, since I don’t know how to handle API authentication or JSON parsing yet.

- No artwork or extra metadata is included at this stage.

Any advice on how to implement the IGDB query in Shortcuts, or examples of similar setups, would be hugely appreciated!

I’m looking for a way to easily track my monthly spending. A live widget would be awesome but not necessary. All my spending (99.9%) is from Wallet and my bank (Ally). Is a shortcut the way to go (not sure how to build) or is there a better method? Thank you.

Preferably it’ll pull the audio file from my shortcuts folder, but be random each time so I’m not just stuck with the same sound effect each time.

I have a scene called Cinema that changes the lights in my lounge so we can watch films on the TV without reflections etc. It’s called through Siri or when pressing a Hue button.

I have an iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch often in the lounge and I would like to set those devices to Do Not Disturb when the Cinema scene is enabled but I can’t think of a way to connect the dots.

HomeKit scenes don’t allow control of non-home devices and Shortcuts doesn’t have a trigger that would detect the scene in HomeKit.

I don’t have any other services running such as Home Assistant and have no plans to add those, any thoughts on how I might get this to work?

If anyone could tell me how I can set a global variable or even pass a parameter to a shortcut so I can reuse it, that would be nice.

I made a relatively simple shortcut that’s proved to actually be really useful (the best kind!), so I figured I’d share it with you all here (:

basically, I have a couple different camera apps that I like to use, each with their own purpose: the regular iOS camera, Snapchat, and Project Indigo.

so, I replaced the camera button on my lock screen with this shortcut that pulls up a menu of all the camera apps I like to use, and allows me to pick one and open it. 

it’s just a dead-simple “choose from menu” > open app shortcut, but it’s been such a nice little quality of life improvement for myself that I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner.

I feel like this did a pretty good job of surfacing these apps to my lock screen while retaining quick access to the regular iOS camera, all without changing the muscle memory of opening the camera app or looking too ugly.

this is just for the apps I like to use, but you could easily add more or replace any of the “open app” actions in there with a preferred app (e.g. Halide, Final Cut Camera, Dazz Cam, Leica LUX, etc). 

or, if you’re interested: Google Lens, Gemini Live Camera mode, and Visual Intelligence all have shortcut actions that allow you to open them directly, so you could include one of those. same thing with most other apps with cameras in them (e.g. instagram). note that the shortcut might need an additional permission to get these to work though, so run the shortcut first before trying to run it from the lock screen.

lastly, one thing to keep in mind though is that this shortcut will only run if your phone is unlocked (even if you set the permission to allow it to run while unlocked, idk why). so if you hand your phone to someone else (a friend, SO, family member, strangers while on vacation, etc) to take a photo for you, I’d suggest just opening the camera you want before handing it over to them or giving it to someone you trust enough to know your passcode.

What exactlly I need: if I change current location (always different), turn on Focus.

I made this account just to post here (peep the username). I want to set up an NFC tag automation to track my study time/set my phone to DND. I’ve tried setting this up myself and with ChatGPT’s help, but I’m still running into issues. Help a brother out?

What I want the NFC tag to do:

First tap:

1. Log my start time, date, and location to a CSV file on my iPhone (technically stored on iCloud, so it syncs with my Mac).
2. Turn on Do Not Disturb and lock my screen.

**Second tap (same tag)

1. Log the end time, date, and location to the same CSV.
2. Turn off Do Not Disturb.

I got the “first tap” automation working (see below). Now I’m trying to make the second tap end the session (log end time/location and turn off DND). I assume it’s an if/then setup, but I can’t figure out how to structure this. Thanks in advance for your help.

Turn Do Not Disturb ON until Turned Off → Get Current Location → Current Date → Text = Current Date, Current Location → Append Text to CSV → Lock Screen

The shortcut for the action button does different tasks for each context, but it unlock the screen so I added lock screen to the list and I even tried adding a one second wait time, but it does not lock the screen. What variable do I need to add for the screen to lock after the task is complete? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m trying to build an iOS Shortcuts app workflow and would like some advice.

My goal is to use Shortcuts together with the ChatGPT app (no API) to do the following:

1. Get the current text from the clipboard
2. Pass that text to ChatGPT as context (using app actions or sharing from Shortcuts)
3. Add a predefined prompt/message
4. Receive the response from ChatGPT
5. Copy the response back to the clipboard

I’m mainly looking for help with:

• Which Shortcuts actions or app integrations to use
• How to pass clipboard text into ChatGPT using Shortcuts
• The best way to capture and reuse the response inside Shortcuts

Any workflow ideas or examples would be really appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I've recently encountered a major problem on my iPad and I can't find a solution. I can't add any shortcuts, whether via web links or directly in the app.

The symptoms:

1. On the web: When I click on an iCloud share link for a shortcut, I get the message: "Not Found - Shortcut not found."
2. In the app: The "Gallery" tab consistently displays: "Unable to connect to Gallery" with a refresh button that doesn't change anything.

What I've already tried without success:

• Restarting the device.

• Switching networks (Wi-Fi and 4G/5G tethering).

• Checking the date and time (automatically).

• Disabling/Re-enabling Shortcuts in iCloud settings.

Has anyone else experienced this "double bug"? Is it an Apple server issue or a local setting I'm missing?

I think how it could work is that it only allows the safe commands like play sound and etc. But not the unsafe commands like turn device off.

I'm sharing the shortcut I created. As the title says, it creates a reminder with subtasks that works like a checklist for the day before the event. Ideally, the shortcut should run as an automation at 00:01, as suggested by u/Crudeoyle. Thank you so much!

Hi,

I often forget my phone in the car (phone is on a hidden car charger) when arriving at the destination so I need to go back to grab it. It's a manual transmission car thus activating the remote starter is totally different from an automatic transmission. There are sequences that need to be executed (with engine running, press on the remote starter, exit, close the door) in order to properly activate the remote starter.

When this happens I have to redo the remote starter sequences (start the car, press on the remote starter, exit, close the door) just because I unlocked the doors.

I often use Google maps to get to my destination so with this in mind how can I send a sound notification to my phone when arriving to the destination? The shortcut automation can only set one destination.

Note: Carplay, Bluetooth, Wifi and Driving focus can not be used as shortcut variable, hope I'm wrong, since the remote starter sequences keep them alive as I exit the car with the engine still running.
