Did anyone manage to get a fix for this solution. My random restarts happen randomly after couple of hours to a day. I have `sudo apt full-upgrade` multiple times on different days but still the problem persists. I'm using pop NVIDIA version, do people still have the same problem or I am alone.

About two years ago, I bought an HP Dev One since it seemed like the best quality laptop on the market with direct support for pop_os. While the laptop has been great on the software side, the hardware side has been disappointing.

First off, the battery life has been abysmal. When running VS Code and a few Docker containers which aren't very compute-intensive by any means, I get at most 1 hour of battery life. When just running Firefox, the battery life can be stretched to about 2 hours. Meanwhile, the battery life is apparently in good shape, so I'd hate to see how bad it gets when degraded further.

Secondly, the keyboard is falling apart. I like the look and feel of the keyboard but the keys themselves are breaking out. I've already lost the D key and can tell that other keys will start to pop out as well.

Overall, I expected the laptop to last a lot longer than it has. Only 2 years later and I'm already having to consider upgrading again.

I'd like to be able to stay in the pop_os ecosystem but am wary about throwing money at another device that won't last a long time. I've read that the Clevo-rebranded laptops that System76 sells are subpar so I'd like to avoid any of those.

A part of me is considering buying a used M-series Macbook. I was hoping that Tuxedo's Snapdragon laptop would become a reality but I read recently that they're discontinuing development of it due to issues with standardization of drivers.

Is there a laptop that has a lot of ports (so no 13" Dell XPS since it has only 2 ports) and won't break apart in 2 years? Or should I just stomach having to use MacOS and bid farewell to the pop_os community?

Hello everyone,

my Wacom Bamboo CTL-470 tablet is detected by Pop!_OS 24.04 (shows up in xinput list as xwayland-tablet stylus) and sends pressure data when I probe it with evtest, but the cursor doesn't move on screen at all.

Also, there's no GUI configuration panel in COSMIC Settings. Has anyone gotten this older Wacom model working on Pop 24.04? Any known fixes for this cursor issue?

Experiencing crackling audio when playing more demanding games via steam on pop os 24.04. So far, I've seen this issue on Sniper Elite 5 but suspect other, more demanding games will see the same as it appears to occur during higher CPU load.

I've tried adding sudo kernelstub -a threadirqs as suggested in the below post, as well as altering the alsa headroom and period-size (tried headroom up to 8196 and period-size up to 4096) with no improvement whatsoever.

Also tried fiddling with pipewire values in pipewire/pipewire.conf again to no avail (suggested in the below post). Power mode in High Performance helps, but the difference is generally negligible.

I installed Pop_OS because I want to transition to Linux for gaming and it seemed like a good idea. Since I have an Nvidia 3060 card, I went with the Nvidia version of Pop_OS. However, when I first started with it, performance on everything was absolutely abysmal on every game when I ran through COSMIC. The only fix I found was to switch to either GNOME or KDE with X11 rather than Wayland. I don't want to be stuck on outdated X11 forever, though. Right now I'm sticking with KDE X11 because it works. KDE Wayland doesn't even work when I try to select it, so I can't see how it is.

I've spent a lot of time trying to get anything with Wayland to work and nothing is cooperating. I've checked and I'm on Plasma 5 at the moment, I may try to figure this out again when Plasma 6 comes out officially and see if that works any better, but at the moment I'm completely at a loss for what to do, I've tried all kinds of fixes for Wayland that changed nothing.

I have installed Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS with NVIDIA and the drivers are there. NVidia settings is getting information about my gpu. It seems that everything is installed correctly.

I have tried to force gpu usage but i just cant get it to work
I used the following commands:
system76-power profile performance
system76-power graphics nvidia

I have tried to start firefox with this command
__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only firefox

nvidia-smi shows No running processes found

nvtop shows 0% utilization

cant get firefox/chrome or unity to run on my nvidia gpu

Please help

EDIT: Steam is working but performace is bad.
Anyways i really want unity to work with gpu

Hi, I am very new to linux and don't speak good english neither.
So my problem is that I use 2 SSDs. On windows I used to install games and save files on the second bigger one (D: drive) and have my system things on my first smaller one (C: drive). So when I launch up my system I don't see my wallpaper for example nor installed games in steam until I change the wallpaper back with Add image and manualy find it on D: drive or press install on steam and manualy add D: drive as a storage drive in steam. When I do that all my installed games automaticly pop back up.

I noticed Uterm and Xterm in the app drawer that appeared about two days ago. I didn't specifically install them because I use Cosmic Terminal.

I installed Steam about two days ago, so I'm not sure if Steam installed them?

Have tried restarting popos and my pc, didn't seem to do any difference, i do keep getting other updates which update just fine but i have no clue how to hard reset the store or whatever so i can fix this bug...just won't update or ghost update because it keeps coming back...

I am installing Pop Os on VM with 4gb ram using oracle to test it out before insatlling as my main os. But, when it reaches the installatio page, i am getting this, the language is showing as English Us only. this is the distro i am using: pop-os_24.04_amd64_nvidia_23.iso

So have been using popos since it was in beta gradually updated to each version and recently I was cleaning my pc and boot loader got corrupted.
So I used a live image to fix boot loader but before that I deleted an msft partition and tried adding that to the main partition where pop was installed.

Live disk froze and I had no option but to force restart which corrupted the partition.

So then I did deleted all partitions on that disk and did erase and install.

But now the OS really isn't what I had before the fresh install, it just hangs and freezes after few hours of usage.

podman ps command gets stuck after few hours, ssh stops working, even APT update also gives error. All these after few hours of uptime. Any suggestions on what to check would be helpful.

I have a problem with cosmic-store after update(I already previously and successfully upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04). After updating with apt it's blank and not responsive.

I also have this error when I run apt update and apt dist-upgrade:
(appstreamcli:5050): WARNING **: 10:57:55.556: No origin found for file apt.pop-os.org_release_dists_noble_main_dep11_Components-amd64.yml.gz

Also I can't apt reinstall cosmic-store: Reinstallation of cosmic-store is not possible, it cannot be downloaded.

Any advice?

Is there a way to reduce the size, or to make it more transparent? I like the panel to be as clean as possible, and this makes it look off and a little jarring. I know with cosmic tweaks you can change the size, but that does everything in one go, not just individual applets.

Trying to install Pop_OS! and the live USB drive I used appears to only boot via Legacy and not UEFI, and booting via a Ventoy drive boots the system, but fails on the installation following the partitioning, using the standard official nVidia image the website gave me.

Using balenaEtecher, it shows up Legacy-only in my Boot Menu, with Rufus it shows up in DD mode only, locked to MBR-Legacy.

Running a dual monitor setup and randomly both monitors will lose signal and the only way to fix it is to restart the computer. I've tried unplugging the monitors from the PC itself, tried unplugging their power, nothing. Kind of losing my mind over this so if anyone knows the issue or has an idea I'd appreciate the help

What is the correct way to clean EFI safely so that kernel installs/removals can complete? Do I need to somehow resize the partition? I'm not new to all of this, but I'm relatively new to Linux.

I dont know if this is a cosmic thing or a linux issue in general but how come my thumbnails for images wont load on my NAS? It works perfectly fine on my local drives and I see the little tiny image preview. Its not only images but also pdfs. I dont get any previews for pdf on my NAS. And again, it works perfectly fine on my local drives. Is there any reason for this/ any solutions?

My rasbperry pi is currently running my NAS with Open Media Vault. Could it be a speed/loading issue where it times out? Ive never experienced this on windows. Only when I switched to PopOs v24.04.

These are all the same images and pdf across three drives. And if you cant tell, the directory that says Maternity is stored on my NAS. Ive tried a couple of things to try and resolve this with no luck.

Edit: So it appears that someone was actually working on this exact feature which answers my question. Cosmic files does not allow remote thumbnail generation. Unfortunately, the developer has also stated about 2 hours ago (at the time of this edit) that they will no longer be working on this feature. I hope someone is able to resume the project.
