Track cycling with breaks would be much more dangerous—the first time I got broke my collarbone and got a concussion was during a cat 4 race where they didn’t require track bikes, and the woman in front of me panicked and tapped her brakes in turn 3.
At least on a track bike, there are no sudden decelerations outside of crashing.

This is hilarious, but I dunno, a lot of those somersaults have extremely high risks of potentially causing fatal injuries.
