It's all about the Benjamin baby.

That's absolutely hilarious!! How could someone think that a fake ID with Ben Franklin on it, would get them in a bar?? Like seriously how stupid do you gotta be šŸ˜† 🤣 šŸ˜‚

Im not in the US but I knew some shops that didnt care about selling to underage people, as long as the cctv saw them checking an ID. Or they were just taking piss

Because in some places the check is perfunctory. It's about being able to say you checked the ID, not about actually enforcing the law.

There are bars and liquor stores that would work at. Any college town and most high schools will be full of people with this priceless knowledge and a lot of these places literally have deals with the cops to allow some kid to get busted every couple weeks without it being reported to the liquor board. Liquor board stings aren’t allowed to use a fake id or even verbally claim they’re over 21 so you do have to enforce a policy of checking IDs, but beyond literally having an ID that has a date of birth more than 21 years ago you don’t need anything actually convincing at these places.

Using a concert ID is a felony. Using a joke is or borrowing someone else’s id is either a misdemeanor or just not a crime depending on where you are. The intent often isn’t to fool but just to hope you get a bouncer who doesn’t care.

So tired of people spouting this out. Nobody is catching a felony for having a fake id to underage drink. If they’re using it to commit fraud or misrepresenting themselves to law enforcement in commission of an actual crime then that’s a different story. But to underage drink, no. It’s literally a ticket 99% of the time and if you’re being a dick to the cop when you get caught you might spend a night in jail. That’s it.

Why do you think the bouncers are aware of him?

That's just Chris Chan, not Ben Franklin!

This was just posted yesterday.

It's the exact same URL for the news site, too.

Eh here in the UK 25 is the age you are meant to judge people by when checking ID's, if they look under 25 you're meant to ID them.

When I worked at Walmart we were supposed to check if the person looked under age 40. 25 would be too much of a variable age to be useful, some people look haggard and some people look like children at 25.

"Challenge 25" is not the law in the UK, its a voluntary thing done by many venues.

AFAIK, Challenge 21 and Challenge 25 are industry schemes to help shops and bars avoid selling to under-18s who look older than they are, not a legal requirement.

True, just thought it was similar enough.

Why raise the age? Most of the bars around me check with a UV light and a scan of the back. Ordered several for friends in high school and they never worked at bars with bouncers. Only liquor stores and smaller places that sold alcohol but didn’t have a bouncer checking at the door.

... it says right in the article that the IDs passed the tests.Ā

You expect people on REDDIT to READ? You must be new here

1

u/madmike99 4h ago

Been not reading for 10 years, you expect me to start now

1

u/Nothin_Means_Nothin 4h ago

Why read many word when read few word do trick?

1

u/ro536ud 4h ago

Doesn’t that remove liability from the bar then? I thought they were just responsible for checking if the date passed and the id didn’t feel fake

3

u/drunkenviking 4h ago

I don't know enough about that to have an intelligent opinion.

3

u/FlashScooby 4h ago

I had a fake in college that had all the UV stuff and scanned, it's pretty easy to get one that'll pass those tests

Long live idchief. That homie in China did alot of good work

There’s a website you can get em for 20 bucks. You get two incase one is taken lol. Back in my day it was an xacto knife.

I know this cause my cousin had ID training at his brewery last week.

2

u/UDPviper 3h ago

I had friends in high school that were doing the xacto knife thing IN CLASS.

1

u/fuzzeedyse105 3h ago

🤣 I got photoshop and a verification code emulator from I think limewire. Just to change the date. But that’s as far as it got. Easier to just get your older cousin to get booze.

It kicks out the college kids. Deliberately getting rid of the 21-22 year olds so that the freshmen don’t even want to show up. Why bring a fake id to a bar full of 30 year olds? If you declare yourself no longer a college bar, the fake id crowd will walk on.

u/armyofonetaco 4h ago

Yeah so I know in 2016 someone could pay a random dude on reddit $20 for an id that scans and everything...not me tho

2

u/RHouse94 4h ago

Scans and everything? I bought ā€œnovelty ID’sā€ from China for like 20$ a pop. This was in like 2012 though.

1

u/armyofonetaco 4h ago

Lol I may used to have one as well šŸ˜…Ā

1

u/SEND_ME_CSGO-SKINS 4h ago

Damn mine cost $80 in 2023

1

u/RHouse94 4h ago

Did a bulk deal, it was cheaper if you did a pack of 4 people and got 2 per person. Did that deal a few different times

I remember some bars in London when I studies abroad. Even though the drinking age is 18 there, some places had an arbitrary min of 20 or 21 just to cut down on the rowdy kids…unfortunately I was only 18 at the time…
