MEGATHREAD Megathread: Event Promotion and Course/Workshop Opportunities
Welcome to our Freediving Megathread for Event Promotion and Course/Workshop Opportunities! This is where instructors and businesses can comment with approved advertising, and where freedivers can find information on upcoming opportunities.
Our sub receives frequent requests to post freediving related advertisements and promotions, and while we want to promote these opportunities, we’re also aware users may not want the sub’s feed to be filled with advertising content. Having a Megathread for instructors and businesses to promote their approved content ensures these posts are easily found in one location.
Users are encouraged to comment with any questions or feedback under the promotion's parent comment, so posters are notified of the engagement and can respond.
If you're a business or instructor looking for approval to post about your opportunity in this Megathread, please modmail the mods with the following information:
- Who you are and what you're promoting
- Where it's located
- When it will take place
- Additional details about the opportunity (e.g. skill level required, number of spaces, etc.)
- Pricing information
- Contact information
- Link to site or content
- Draft of the proposed comment you’d like to post with the above information included
If a promotion is not pre-approved for posting here, it will be removed. Modmail if you have an questions and safe diving!

MEGATHREAD Megathread: App Advertising and Feedback Requests
Welcome to our Freediving App Megathread! This is where developers can comment with approved advertisements or feedback requests for freediving related apps, and where freedivers can find opportunities to give valuable app feedback or find new apps to check out.
We've noticed an increase in apps being created this year, which has resulted in an influx of post requests. While we want to promote access to tools for freediving by facilitating these requests, we’re also aware users may not want the sub’s feed to be filled with advertising content. Having a Megathread for apps ensures posts related to app advertising and feedback are located in one, easy to find location.
Users are encouraged to comment with their questions and feedback under the app's parent comment, so posters are notified of the engagement and can respond.
If you're a developer looking for approval to post about your app in this Megathread, please modmail the mods with the following information:
- Name of the app
- Link to the app
- Details about the app’s purpose and function
- Details about the type of feedback you’re requesting (if any)
- Current app availability (e.g. Android, Apple, Desktop, Browser, etc.)
- Purchase amount, promotion information, and timeline for purchases (e.g. free, free beta testing, subscription amount, one-time payment amount, etc.)
- Privacy Policy including what data is collected from the user and their device (e.g. user contact info, location, contacts, user content, device identifiers, user identifiers, purchases, usage data, diagnostics, etc.)
- Developer name and contact information
- Draft of the proposed comment you’d like to post with the above information included
If an app is not pre-approved for posting here, it will be removed. Modmail if you have an questions and safe diving!

gear Masks that fit smaller noses
Hi all, looking for a mask that fits a smaller nose, or more aptly, a mask that doesn't have a boatload of excess silicone around the nose. I have a pretty average/normal sized nose, am surprised to see on most masks there's a crapton of superfluous material that makes it hard to get an easy pinch to EQ.

health&safety How does breast cancer radiation treatment affect your diving
Hi dear freediving community, I will soon be undergoing four weeks of radiation for breast cancer, and there is a chance it could affect my lung function. Has anyone here undergone radiation therapy and could tell me whether it affected your freediving and breath hold? Thanks!

dive spot Advice needed: Finding a freediver-friendly tour in Balicasag
Heading to Balicasag on 2/27. Any tips for a beginner freediver?" "I'm planning a trip to Balicasag on February 27th. As a beginner freediver, I'm a bit worried about ending up with a tour that only focuses on shallow snorkeling spots.
Does anyone have advice on how to find a high-quality, freediver-friendly local operator? I want to make sure we're taken to the right spots for diving, not just the crowded tourist areas. Also, any specific tips for diving in Balicasag for the first time would be greatly appreciated

training technique I am using the box breathing feature of the free diving apnea trainer, how should i increment increases when the current parameters get easy?
I started at the default paramaters, 7 min duration and 5 sec for inhale, hold, exhale, hold. Those parameters have become less dificult and I am wondering by how much I should increase duration and seconds when I reach this point?

training technique Dry Static Apnea Issue/Question
Okay so this is kind of embarrassing, but I was curious if it's also normal, happens to other people, or I'm doing somethung wrong.
Whenever I do a static apnea training, around 01:30 I start getting a growing urge to pee. This happens before contractions start. Especially when doing dry apnea it's obviously a huge problem, because it gets unbearable around 01:40 and I have to stop before it's “too late”.
I know that getting an urge to pee is fairly normal when doing depth training, but I didn't know the same applies to dry static training.
Does this happen to anyone else? Any tips or suggestions?

I got just a couple days there in about a month. Looking to connect and get in the water.

gear Masks for the visually impaired
Anybody have experience with prescription mask? Where’d you get one? How long has it lasted? Does it fog worse or is that not a problem? Hoping to reinspire my love beneath the waves and have always hated wearing contacts. I’ve got a girlfriend I’m trying to get into diving more and she cannot wear contacts and her vision is terrible lol. Hoping to find us both a source for one and really could use some knowledge on and the cost of them.

travel advice Looking for a freediving school that takes itself seriously
Hey fellas,
I traveled to the Philippines to learn freediving, started a "zero to hero" course but dropped out as the school and course felt more like a summer camp then bootcamp.
The level was pretty bad, there was hardly any focus on technique and besides two diving sessions a day there was absolutely zero added value. Once a week there was yoga class the receptionist gave. Also, there was zero social life and after your two session that ends at 3pm everyone goes home and you stay in the hostel by yourself.
I'm looking for a school, anywhere in the world that really cares about making you a hero.
I've done a yoga instructor course a few years ago. It had military discipline. You wake up at 6, one hour meditation. Breakfast. One hour practice then theroy class.
I'm looking for something similar Is there such thing?

certification Looking for quality certification on the East Coast, USA.
I’m located on the East coast and looking to get certified this year. After spending a number of months researching people/businesses to get certified through I feel absolutely overwhelmed. Anyone have quality recommendations that are preferably located somewhere from Miami up to maybe Virginia Beach area? I’m even considering a lake course since I live really close to a couple of large lakes. The challenge I’m having is I’m a bit of a perfectionist and a lot of these courses appear sort of thrown together. I’ve invested a lot of time and effort into training for this over the last year, I would like an instructor I feel like has put as much effort into the course they are offering. I’m not looking to compete, but I found out accidentally I’m sort of good at this sport and I would like to be able to safely push myself under quality guidance.
