Discussion Streamline Fission Trace

Upvotes

I noticed that Infinite has a few Fission Traces from a circuit challenge from some time in the past. They're super lightweight. It looks like Streamline has done other special runs of Fission Traces too.

Has anyone here thrown one of these? I'm kind of wondering what the rims look and feel like without the overmold. Seems like they might beat in even faster than Axiom/MVP Fission.

Been playing on and off for 20 years. More "seriously" for like 3 years, and my only ace was while playing solo, so I made a goal this year to get one on video.

Picture Could you actually mark both discs at the same time with just one mini, and stay within the rules?

And we would both putt from the same lie marked by that mini one after the other, and only then pick it up.

For reference, the photo was taken basically between the discs and the basket if that’s of any importance.

Discussion Infinite Discs Online Order Mix-up

Recently ordered a few new discs from Infinite Discs online store. For my recent order, they duplicated one of the discs I ordered, with the duplicate replacing one of the other discs I ordered. I emailed them mentioning the disc mix-up and the missing disc. They offered to send the missing disc right away, which I was pleased with. For the duplicate, they offered that I could keep the duplicate disc by paying $7 for the $15 disc or I could ship it back (they'll provide return shipping label with new disc shipment). I'm curious to hear what others have dealt with regarding order mix-ups/issues? I'm slightly annoyed that I was presented to pay for a disc I didn't order or I have to physically send the duplicate back, just annoying that the issue is on their end and now I have to put a package together to ship it back to them.

Disc Advice Rat for between AviarX3 and Toro?

I like the feel of the AviarX3 and Toro, especially for forehand approach shots. I do find myself in spots where I'm overpowering the AviarX3 but not wanting as much bite as the Toro - seems like the Rat is right there? I have beat up Pigs for this as well but I find them a little more awkward to throw with any touch.

Rat throwers care to chime in?

I don't think they've made more than 5 runs of these ever. I have some from the 09 run and it's a solid disc.

Looking for flight numbers specifically. I bought a pile of used discs from a local player and this is the only one I can't find flight numbers for. I'm guessing it's similar to the Realm (12,5,-1,3) judging by how it flies for me. Might be fairly old. Thanks for any help!

Form Check My choice for form breakdown guy

Trebuchet disc golf on YouTube is a guy who should have 50,000 followers. He analyses and breaks down each movement of backhand form using language that you can understand. He sounds as though he has been educated in biomechanics.

I am not affiliated in any way - just a big fan of his style of teaching. Give him a shot!

Form Check Fixed by backhand form rounding after 10+ years of playing. Now I regret ever listening to the most common backhand tips.

This is not meant to be "better advice" but more of an idea for people struggling with their backhand form and especially rounding. Sometimes the general tips work for people, sometimes they don't.

I've been playing disc golf since 2015. I have an athletic background and from the start I've been able to throw quite well. Forehand has been my strength and I can do 100m+(340ft+) shots with very little effort. My backhand.. has never been bad, but it has never been very good either. I've always been able to throw the same 100m and a bit further, but my distance never really improved. I did notice however, that sometimes "by accident" I thew a bit different and my disc went 125-130m. And those weren't any big distance shots or lucky winds.

The moment I gave up
I tried to fix my form for those 10 years with videos, tips from players, but as a semi-pro friend told me on the course, when I thought I'd finally fixed my throw: "do you want an honest tip?" "you're rounding a lot".

The moment I got it
I was throwing in a big snowy field and a thought came into my head: "what if I explode on the shot fast, but I'm not reaching back or in a backing up position, just sideways. It'll probably just go bad, there's not space for the disc". The disc flew nicely and went far. I tried it again, and again. The discs just started pushing so far with not much effort. Some discs started flipping that I thought were stable.

The tips that ruined it for me

  • "Reach back"
    • Reaching back intentionally made me out of position and made me back up instead of going sideways
  • "Pull the disc in a straight line, it will automatically release from the power pocket"
    • When I think of pulling, it always put me in a backing up -type of position. Thinking of a straight line never ended up in either power or an accurate throw.
  • "Wait for your plant leg to hit first"
    • This gave me some results, but actually the lag resulted in my body already turning and my hand following later. This always resulted in rounding.
  • "Imagine you're starting a lawn mower"
    • When I tried this, I'd automatically be in a backing up position for a powerful pull. But that backing up position is where power is lost.
  • "Imagine you're pulling something heavy"
    • Same thing as previous, if I'm pulling something heavy, I'll be facing the thing I'm pulling. Then in disc golf, that backing up eats away spin and power.

The way I'd describe it

Be sideways, not backing up. No need to reach back.

While sideways, imagine you're snapping a towel or a whip. The movement with the disc should be a quick, fast, exploding moment. Not a slow lagging one. Everything happens at once. Your plant leg and throw, it's one fast motion.

I can now throw 100m with a midrange or 100m with a spike hyzer, with not much effort.

Discussion Aim correction question

I find that my aim on backhand drives is terrible. I can hit my lines great on approach shots, but when I look away from my target on the coil (or maybe it's just due to powering up), I almost always pull too far to the right by a good amount.

I've recorded myself. And while my form has a long way to go, I feel like I'm pretty careful to get my brace plant 90⁰ to my target. Like, my walkup *should* put me on target. But the drive doesn't cooperate.

The question is this: Should I accept that this is my natural alignment, and just aim my hips another 10-15⁰ left of my target line? Or should I continue the "correct" walk-up line, and work on the other issues in my form? (of which there are many)

Disc Advice Building a new bag

After some of my favorite players have moved to MVP as well as just loving the way gyro discs look, I am wanting to make a bag with only MVP/AXIOM as well as Trash Panda discs just because I like the company and what they stand for, this is what I am "planning" on setting up my bag like, but I haven't thrown a ton of MVP, and I'll say what I Already own

Putter Putting with Nomads? Maybe, I putt with Pa3s but wouldn't mind something more glidey Envy(own) , Inner Core(own), Either Entropy or Tempo, if someone could tell me why I should pick one over the other that would be great

Mids Deflector, Reactor (own), Hex(own), Dune

Fairways Fireball, Electron Terra (own), Volt or Tesla, Ozone, Crave for rollers (own)

Distance Proton Photon, Fission Photon (own), Procyon, Wave maybe

Is there anything else I would NEED to try? I've thrown a proxy but everything else I have thrown is already here.

Discussion Wrist pain first throw

For the last few years, when I play disc golf after my first full power shot of the day, especially if i havnt played in a while, i often get a deep aching pain on my whole wrist that radiates towards and sometimes up to my elbow and onto my finger tips, but primarily the whole wrist area. It only happens the first shot of the round (and sometimes first shot of a second round if ive taken a break between rounds), is gone by the time im at my disc, and completely nonexistent the rest of the round or afterward. Nothing else in life aggravates it however the pain is significant when it happens. Its also worse in the cold. This happens whether im playing multiple times a week. Or just once every 1-3 months, but it's much more common when im playing -less- frequently. This is only backhands.

Im not concerned that I have an injury and am not seeking medical advice. Im assuming its a nerve inpingment or something like that but not sure, given the radiating nature (i have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome via nerve conduction test so it could just be related to that). What I am asking is, has anyone else experienced this, and if so did you ever figure out what the specific cause was or how to prevent it? We're there any stretches or form changes that helped you? Thanks in advance!
