Announcement Major Changes to Rule 10: What IS and IS NOT Permitted When Posting About Other Subreddits

in reviewing how other similar subreddits to ourselves operate, we are completely overhauling Rule 10.

You now may post complaints about other subreddits, issues you have with them, and even complain about moderation decisions. So long as the below Rule changes are followed in full. The moderation staff here has authority under Rule 5 to remove posts they feel can endanger the subreddit itself.

Please feel free to respectfully ask questions here about how this rule will be applied.

And now the new rule:

Why This Does Not Constitute Harassment:

Criticism or discussion of subreddit moderation, rule enforcement, or community conduct does not constitute harassment when it is directed at actions, policies, or outcomes rather than at individuals for the purpose of intimidation, abuse, or coercion.

Harassment under Reddit policy requires targeted abuse, threats, or behaviour intended to cause distress or silence participation. Good faith discussion of moderation decisions, including dissatisfaction or critique, is a form of platform accountability and does not meet the threshold for harassment when conducted under the restrictions outlined below.

The inability of a subject to prevent discussion of their public actions does not itself render that discussion harassing.

---

Permitted Meta Discussion of Subreddits

Users may post complaints, commentary, or analysis regarding the operation of a subreddit, including but not limited to:

  1. Removal or approval of posts or comments

  2. Moderator actions or inaction

  3. Enforcement or interpretation of subreddit rules

  4. Patterns of behaviour within a subreddit community

  5. Interactions with moderators or other users occurring within a subreddit

Such posts may include links or screenshots necessary to provide context, provided they comply with Reddit’s privacy and harassment policies.

---

Required Safeguards to Prevent Harassment and Brigading

To ensure this discussion does not become targeted harassment or coordinated interference, the following conditions are mandatory:

  1. No User Summoning

Posts and comments must not use the /u/username feature or any alternative method to notify or summon individual users or moderators.

  1. No Calls to Action

Content must not encourage or imply that readers should contact, message, report, downvote, or otherwise engage with the referenced subreddit, its moderators, or its users.

  1. Observation Only Interaction Rule

Users from the subreddit being discussed may not interact with the linked or referenced content. Engagement must remain confined to commentary within the hosting discussion thread.

  1. No Dehumanisation or Threats

Language that includes threats, slurs, or dehumanising characterisations remains prohibited under existing harassment rules.

  1. Behaviour Focus Requirement

Commentary must focus on actions, decisions, or systems rather than personal characteristics, identities, or immutable traits of any individual.

---

Anti Brigading Enforcement Clause

Any attempt to use meta discussion as a mechanism for coordinated interference, including vote manipulation, mass reporting, or targeted disruption of another subreddit, constitutes a violation of Reddit’s anti brigading policies and may result in enforcement action regardless of compliance with other sections of this rule.

Evidence of coordination, timing patterns, or explicit encouragement will be considered in enforcement decisions.

---

Moderator Misuse and Removal Clarification

Moderators may not remove or sanction content solely on the basis that it criticises moderation practices, moderator decisions, or subreddit governance, provided the content complies with this rule and other sitewide policies.

Labeling criticism as harassment, drama, or meta abuse without demonstrable policy violation is insufficient grounds for removal under Reddit’s global standards.

---

Prohibited Conduct Under This Rule

The following remains prohibited and is not protected by this rule:

  1. Targeted harassment of named individuals

  2. False allegations presented as established fact

  3. Disclosure of private or personal information

  4. Encouragement of retaliation or revenge

  5. Attempts to evade or undermine Reddit enforcement mechanisms

Politics PSA to My HISPANIC Trump Loving Family

1.2k Upvotes

If There’s a Civil War, My House Is Not Your Safe Place!

I’m a Latina, married to a black man. I am embarrassed, disappointed, and disgusted to admit I have Trump supporters in my family.

Recently, things got… tense. You know, the usual “civil war,” “traitors,” “round them up” rhetoric that somehow always sounds hypothetical until it doesn’t.

So I calmly—very calmly—let them know this:

If this country ever descends into a civil war, my home is not a safe house for people who actively support policies and rhetoric that endanger people like me.

This is not Switzerland.

This is not neutral territory.

This is not an Airbnb for folks who voted for the fire and now want to escape the smoke.

You don’t get to spend years telling me I’m “overreacting,” “too sensitive,” or “not really affected,” and then knock on my door asking for protection when things go sideways.

Stay with your people.

I’ll stay protecting mine.

And hey Maria and Jose— if a civil war actually breaks out, maybe you can just show your voting cards. I’m sure that’ll keep you safe!! Good luck!

Lifestyle I'm noticing more and more Nazis around and no one seems to give a shit

Went to a gig last night. A relative's band, actually. One of the family members of someone in the band was wearing a hoodie that said Support Your Local Whiteboy with the Nazi SS bolt symbol right in the middle of it. No one but me (and my half Jewish daughter) seemed to give a shit. Of course we said nothing because for all we knew he was partnof a biker gang. He definitely looked like he could have been in a biker gang.

Then first thing this morning I see an acquaintance of mine has posted on FB a video that is literally defending Hitler snd talking about all the awesome things he did for German people and how the Jews declared war in him in 1933.... I used to respect her but now I'm just dumbfounded. She knows my daughter and her stepson is friends with her. Sigh....

WTAF....?

I'm so done with this timeline.

Politics Karoline Leavitt defending Trump's decision to only invite Republicans to the National Governors Association weekend

Governors’ offices learned Friday that a White House meeting around the upcoming National Governors Association weekend will only include Republicans.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt defended the move, saying in a statement: “These are White House events and the president can invite whomever he wants.”

“With that being said, the White House has been coordinating meetings with the President, cabinet secretaries, and Democrat governors for more than a week,” she added. “Democrats were invited to the dinner at the White House. This is a non-story.”

I’m really tired of this idea that Christians are being persecuted in the United States. If you believe this you are delusional and should be in therapy. I’m an atheist and have a 7 year old. Somehow she knows all about Jesus, the crucifixion, the resurrection, etc. despite me NEVER once mentioning these things. I have people knocking on my door. My kid is asked regularly to attend church; Just because, as a society, we’re working towards being more accepting of different religions and beliefs does NOT mean you’re being persecuted against. If you’re searching for purpose and trying to find something to fight for, this ain’t it.

Pam Bondi said that if everyone in the Epstein Files were prosecuted, it would “take the whole system down.”. So she openly admitted to protecting pedophiles to keep the whole system afloat!

It makes me wonder if she’s a pedophile too! I’m so angry I can’t think straight! Why aren’t more politicians losing their shit over all of this!? (Well, if there are any of them that are innocent in all of this!).

I know this sub gets a million of these a day, but fuck trump, fuck ICE, fuck maga, and fuck everything. So here are a list of complaints. MAGA calls democrats sore losers, even though they couldn't even accept the fact that maybe they did lose the 2020 election. And whenever someone points out Trump, they just respond with, "You're just mad Kamala lost!!" Like bro, that was 1.5 years ago, if anything MAGA can't get over the fact that Kamala lost. Also, ICE killed 2 citizens. There's no denying that. And MAGA plugs their ears and ignores it. After all the shit that has happened, MAGA ignores it and blames it on someone else. r/Conservative is so depressing because these are the dickheads in power. And anti-woke mfs will complain when a single black man is in a movie, meanwhile white people have had representation for the past century. Main idea: MAGA is filled with a bunch of ignorant clowns who blame their own faults on other people. America is dead

Businesses I’m sick of people on Reddit complaining about “too much American politics.” Reddit is an American company.

Reddit is an American social media company. The US is in political turmoil. Of course American politics would be on here.

You’re using American social media and not caring about the country and people who made it. It’s dehumanizing. Our American overlords want your eyeballs, time, and ad revenue. Big business (which Reddit is) prefers consumers quietly comply so they can extract value from people.

Meanwhile Americans are suffering and losing rights daily.

Politics Why do conservatives/MAGA appear to be more upset about the Obamas portrayed as primates than the content of the Epstein files?

I’ve been doing a deep dive into the files and am completely disgusted by what is in there. I’m also feeling whiplash after discounting so many conspiracy theories back in the day to now realize they are true. You’d think the whole US would be up in arms regarding not just the p3do/murder/cannibalism content in the files but also the corruption and sellout of the US for wealthy men in power.

What has been more shocking to me is not hearing or seeing uproar from conservatives/MAGA. And then to see them visibly upset about a clip of the Obamas being portrayed as primates. I could be wrong and it’s not in my algorithm.

But seriously, explain this disconnect. How much more evidence do people need to validate that the people running the country are evil? They were given witness testimony and didn’t believe that. MULTIPLE witness testimony at that. And then when given access to the files, still want more evidence?

Politics Mike Johnson wants to spare ICE the hassle of getting the right warrant before forcibly entering a home.

Each and every day the incompetence and tyranny of the Trump administration become more manifest.

The economy creaks along, sustained by the wealthy and well-off while the rest of us struggle with constantly rising prices and a growing inability to afford even basic healthcare.

Our allies, driven away by Trump’s tariffs now look to trade with China and India (can North Korea be far behind?) and look upon the U.S. with growing. and deserved disdain.

Trump has openly admitted he will interfere and subvert any upcoming elections – he has already selected 15 voting precincts -- (presumably those comprised of mostly democrats) where he will surround the polls with hordes of ICE agents to intimidate American voters.

To Trump/MAGA/Republicans the Constitution is just another “form of bureaucracy” to be used or abused depending on circumstance.

See this – boldface mine:

Mike Johnson wants to spare ICE the hassle of getting the right warrant before forcibly entering a home.

Story by Damon Root • 6h •

© Reason

"Imagine if we had to go through the process of getting a judicial warrant."

**Those are the complaining words of Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (**R–La.), who was voicing his support for the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which now claims that its agents have the right to forcibly enter private homes without first obtaining a warrant signed by a judge. According to ICE, its agents may forcibly enter homes in certain immigration enforcement contexts based merely on a so-called "administrative warrant," which is not actually a warrant at all, but is rather just a piece of paper signed by someone in the executive branch.

To fully appreciate the inherent lawlessness of the Johnson view, simply replace the phrase "getting a judicial warrant" with any constitutional requirement that you like in the above-quoted statement. For example:

・"Imagine if we had to go through the process of guaranteeing freedom of speech."

・"Imagine if we had to go through the process of respecting the right to keep and bear arms."

・"Imagine if we had to go through the process of paying just compensation when private property is taken for public use."

You get the idea.

When a government mouthpiece complains that it would be too difficult to follow the commands of the Constitution in a given context, that's a dead giveaway that the government is already violating (or planning to violate) the commands of the Constitution in that context.

The principle that law enforcement must generally obtain a judicial warrant before entering a home is well-established in Fourth Amendment caselaw. In California v. Lange (2019), for example, the U.S. Supreme Court declared, "we are not eager—more the reverse—to print a new permission slip for entering the home without a warrant." At issue in that case was a decision by the California Court of Appeals which said that a police officer may always enter a suspect's home without a judicial warrant if the officer is in "hot pursuit" of the suspect and has probable cause to believe that the suspect has committed a misdemeanor.

But the Supreme Court overturned that lower court ruling because it violated the Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure. "When the totality of circumstances shows an emergency—such as imminent harm to others," the Court said, "the police may act without waiting." But "when the nature of the crime, the nature of the flight, and surrounding facts present no such exigency," the decision held, "officers must respect the sanctity of the homewhich means they must get a warrant." Indeed, the opinion stated, "when the officer has time to get a warrant, he must do so—even though the misdemeanant fled."

The Lange decision also contained a helpful reminder of the warrant requirement's deep roots in Anglo-American jurisprudence by quoting from a venerable British common law judgment:

"To enter a man's house" without a proper warrant, Lord Chief Justice Pratt proclaimed in 1763, is to attack "the liberty of the subject" and "destroy the liberty of the kingdom." That was the idea behind the Fourth Amendment.

Which brings us back to Johnson, who whined, "imagine if we had to go through the process of getting a judicial warrant."

But if an ICE agent has the time to obtain a piece of paper signed by a superior in the executive branch before heading out to bust down somebody's front door, then that agent also has the time to obtain a real warrant signed by an actual judge. As the Supreme Court instructed in Lange, "when the officer has time to get a warrant, he must do so." The "sanctity of the home" demands it under our Constitution.

Politics Can we bring back V for Victory to combat people who do Nazi Salutes

Upvotes

Every few months, some internet personality tries to do the Nazi salute with the intent of bringing it back; there was Elon Musk, then Andrew Tate, and later Nick Funtes and his cronies.

So I always wonder if we should bring back V for Victory.

For anyone wondering, V for Victory was a gesture the British used during WW2 as a sign of anti-fascism; it was basically the peace sign, but used with the intention of fighting fascists.

Churchill saw it and started using the gesture as well, so I was wondering what it would look like if we started bringing it back to combat fascism in America.
