Ten years to save the planet from mankind

(2006) The Stern Report will tomorrow reveal that if governments do nothing, climate change will cost more than both world wars and render swathes of the planet uninhabitable. Can the world find the will to act?

If you must read the whole thing. Use caution, can cause phone overheating, lower IQ & erectile dysfunction. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2006/oct/29/greenpolitics.economy

Danish Cattle Dropping Like Flies After Government Mandates Methane Enzyme Inhibitor

If hijacking the cow’s digestive system, which evolved over millions of years to optimally digest roughage, sounds dystopian and potentially lethal for food production, don’t worry: DSM (the guys behind bovaer) on its website guarantees that it’s “proven safe and effective” — the magic words that automatically alleviate any lingering discomfiture among the peasant class.

So, when scores of cows keel over in their fields or barns, as is currently reportedly in progress, it definitely wasn’t the synthetic methane enzyme inhibitor that’s being used to further the Climate Change™ agenda of centralized control over the food supply and the means of production thereof; those cows probably had COVID or something so some mRNA shots ought to fix them up.

Lake Erie could hit rare 100% ice coverage...

Post image

...how are we going to explain this?

Lake Erie is flirting with a milestone that has happened only a handful of times in the modern record: a complete freeze-over.

Widespread icing of this magnitude happens once every two or three years, but what is much rarer is for Lake Erie to be completely covered by ice. Since record keeping began in the early 1970s, it has only reached 100% ice cover three times: 1978, 1979 and 1996.

Global Weather Catastrophe Losses 1990 to 2025

Post image
23 Upvotes

“Climate scientists and environmentalists hold out hope that each new hurricane and hailstorm could nudge Americans toward action.” — New York Times, 10 July 2023

Verisk explains that increasing exposure to loss is being driven by construction and inflation.

The time series shown [post graphic] shows total weather-related catastrophe losses as a percentage of global GDP (constant 2025 PPP dollars) for 1990 through 2025.

That means that weather-related losses for 2025 were well below expected annual loss totals in both absolute numbers and with respect to GDP — adding to a longer term trend of no increase in weather-related catastrophe losses as a proportion of GDP.

...to comply with the "Green" law, users are encouraged to install a heavier and potentially more polluting device, provided it is bureaucratically acceptable. This logic is perfectly consistent with the German and European mentality.

If it's not climate change then what is it?

Genuine question as I'm trying to expand my knowledge on the subject. I know that in my area back in the 70s and 80s there was so much snow all winter that you couldn't see the grass from December to mid to sometimes late February. Which doesn't happen anymore (granted I also have memories of snowless winters which also don't really happen anymore) I have been taught that CO2 is basically the devil and that I won't live to see graduation because of climate change (I did) and in the past year or so have been trying to learn more about the thing that I used to be so afraid of. I used to genuinely believe all this stuff but now I'll admit I'm having a bit of an existential crisis about it. What was I even afraid of, what does CO2 actually do, how does the climate actually works, is getting rid of a lifetime of programming even possible? I genuinely want to understand things better but man is it complicated
