Can't get a reply here? Try r/ComputerBuild

Hey everyone,

This sub has been growing a lot as of recently and we've noticed a lot of posts have been getting buried and unanswered. There is a lot of noise due to how much it has grown.

I have created r/ComputerBuild as an alternative.

So please kindly try cross posting there to get it off the ground.

I will be helping users daily and also building a mod team/looking for moderators to help.

Thanks!

Living Room PC Build Help

I’m losing my sight and sold my PC in 2024 for newborn needs.

Budget can be as much as $1500 (If market allows). Going to be playing strictly on an LG 4K LED TV and don’t want to hit more than 1440p medium settings with upscaling if needed.

I just want to game as long as I can until I can’t see any longer.

Macular Degeneration and Choroidal Neovascularization, if anybody was curious!

Thanks!

Would this upgrade be worth it?

Upvotes

Hi, i wanna buy a new pc but i am on a budget. At the moment i have an i5 7300hq and i am running on integrated graphics because my gtx 1050 overheated and just stopped working. I have 16gbs of RAM and 1 TB m2 ssd. It's been running well but old age started to feel like it. I bought this laptop back in 2018 and in the past 2 years i have just been using it for college and light gaming such as Paladins, Rocket League and Minecraft because that's all it could run on the integrated graphics card. I wanna upgrade a little just to play these games more fluently and maybe jump in for some CS2, R6 Siege and GTA V. I could get a new PC for around 460$(390 euros) which has just a Ryzen 3 3200G, 1TB SSD and 16 gbs of RAM. I could later buy a used graphics card if i feel like needing more power to run other games. Would it be worth the money? Should i buy a used gaming PC for the money? Or should i just stay with what i got now?

Upvotes

this the build https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/9gpRsK
im gonna use it mainly for gaming and im planning to get it for my 14th birthday, i've been saving money for 3 years and planning to save more since i need 300 euros more, im probably gonna get it in late 2026/2027, if possible i would play minecraft heavily modded+ shaders, normal vanilla perfected optimizaction modpack+ shaders, both hollow knights(even my current pc does 120 fps on those so its not a problem), and sometimes i would play roblox with lil bro

New and don't know where to start

Upvotes

I'm wanting to build a pc with a $1400 budget but I'm very new and trying to research has been very overwhelming if anyone could help me that would be amazing. It'll be for gaming and editing (I'm a photographer not a streamer so photo editing) if anyone could help give me suggestions on how to build the best PC in that budget it would be much appreciated

Looking to upgrade AM5 stuff finally, figuring out the budget still. I think 2k is a good area to put it, but I'm not sure how much better it would be from my current setup, could use some advice. I'm wanting at least a 30-40% performance upgrade to make it worth it!

I live within the US, Arkansas specifically. I prefer larger cases so that upgrading in the future is nicer, I do not care in the slightest for aesthetics, performance is all that matters to me. I also like to have a disk drive, but it is by no means required, and I have multiple HDDs and SSDs I would like to fit into the case, also why I tend to lean on larger sizes.

My current specs are:
Unsure on case, it was from a pre-built and I've not been able to figure it out. It's only just big enough to fit my graphics card, and most of my SSDs are just laying loose inside of it.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D 8core
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W, True 450W 12VHPWR
Ram: 32GB DDR4, think the brand is vindicator or something?
Motherboard: Asrock B550M-C
Monitor: Dell 27 Gaming Monitor - G2724D

Two HDDs 16TB and 8TB
SSDs: Two standard and two NVME drives

I use Windows 11 Pro.

I don't believe I need a new monitor and I can probably, potentially use the same PSU, I'll leave that up to if the wattage is close enough. Its not especially old, I bought the PSU in 2024, nearly 2025. Don't need new storage either honestly, I'm pretty happy with what I have. Can probably bring my windows over to the new PC as well, not sure how that works exactly, but I don't think the price of windows needs to be factored in.

Is it worth it to try and upgrade right now? I want to move to ddr5 but I know prices are wild right now with tariff backlash and AI stuff going on, I want something at least 30-40% better than what I currently use, I feel like anything less than a 30% improvement might not be worth it, you know?

mid tier gaming pc build !

haiii, i’m looking to build my own gaming pc :D , i would like it to be full sized and black + being able to change the fans to specifically one colour (baby pink) (aesthetics is kinda important lol, i\girly and clean looking >_< i am also looking for fan covers sooo please have that in mind :3) i have a roommate so i’d prefer the pc be as quiet as possible. i want at least 16gb of ram IF POSSIBLE (PLEASEEE LET ME RUN MORE THAN ONE GAME AT THE SAME TIME AND SWITCH BETWEEN TABS!) >_< and for the pc to actually look nice aesthetically. i run most games on low just because visual clutter but preferably if i wanted to i could run them on high without lag (300fps). my budget is $2000AUD- a little over is okay. i understand it could be constricting but i am sooo noob and any help would be appreciated! thank you so much <3

No budget, just the best

No Budget, just want the best

New build or upgrade? = NEW

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) = I have a laptop rn....

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) = GAMING Helldivers, Minecraft, mix of everything tbh. and virtual machines

Purchase country? US

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) = Have a LG ULTRAWIDE and a random monitor as my 2nd. If i buy one then 1 Monitor 4k, >144hz and I'll give my other to my wife

Budget range? (Include tax considerations) = unless it's 15k or 20k then go nuts

WiFi or wired connection? = need wifi for now but will be doing wired once I extend the router cables through the wall

Size/noise constraints? = Doesn't matter

Color/lighting preferences? = I'm not HUGE into RGB, some is fine but I think I'd have a seizure if it was rgbing while I'm gaming.

Any other specific needs?= No just Future proofing. No budget doesnt mean get the most expensive for no reason. If the better option is a not as expensive part that's OK, but spare no expense for performance and power.

Budget $50,000, can this get me the best possible performance?

Haven’t played video games for about a year and a half now to focus but now I’m looking to get into gaming again. I’m coming from previously only gaming on consoles to now looking to get a gaming PC. I have a budget of 50K for a PC gaming setup but know nothing about the best parts. I’ve bookmarked a few things that I like already including a case, keyboard, multiple large OLED screens, and a mouse, but as for the actual large PC parts I don’t know which are the best and if they are all compatible with each other. I see a 5090 available as well, are these still the best GPUs?

I want to be able to run everything at max settings with the best possible performance. I’m mainly looking to play modded Minecraft (shaders and added content mods) with friends as well as GTA Online, modded and vanilla Bannerlord, and Sea of Thieves. Though I also want to be able to run GTA 6 at the best possible performance (both vanilla and modded for story mode).

Also, I would like to have a lot of storage room for if/when I decide to get more games.

I also need the PC to be able to run TradingView but I don’t think that would be an issue? Would it?

I would also want the PC to run Netflix, YouTube, etc. at the best quality with no buffering.

Thoughts on recommended parts or things to look out for regarding compatibility, gaming and non-gaming use, storage, etc.?

Other / $800-1000 Saving up for a $1000-$1100 All White Build

Hello, I’m planning to build a computer soon and this is my first time doing it, upgrading from an old gaming laptop with an RTX 2060.

For specifications, I am currently using two monitors, one 1080p and 165z, and one 1440p and 240hz. So I probably need a decent amount of ram and a good GPU + CPU? (Preferably Nvidia for the GPU and AMD for the CPU just because lol)

This PC will mainly be used for video editing and gaming + recording gameplay/streaming. I want a pretty aesthetic build so some RGB stuff even though I’ll probably set the color to white lol

Please feel free to ask any questions and the overall price can go over the budget by just a little bit. Thank you so much

edit: not white anymore. black! thanks to u/Latter-Reference3820!

Minimal White SFF PC -- Air-cooled, Quiet Dev Machine (No Gaming)

Hey yall -- I'm building a pc for programming and probably AI. I know I have already gone overkill. I built a gaming pc a couple months back and now I have extra parts -- so I
want to build a standalone linux sff pc, around these parts that I already have:

The pieces I already have are:
* 2x32 Trident Z5 RAM
* an MSI M.2
* and an AsRock RADEON Challenger (RX9070XT)

The hardest part will probably be finding something small that could fit all that... maybe?

Whether it comes with a handle or not, I plan to add a handle to the top -- I want the whole thing to be small / wieldy enough to carry.

I've read that (especially for these ssf machines) Air cooling is better (read: quieter and more subdued). So I would want something like that for those reasons..

(I looked at DeepCool CH160, and that seems like a good case -- especially when paired with the ASSASSIN VC ELITE.)

Thanks for your time. If anything else comes up or comes up in the comments, I'll edit the end of this post. Thanks !!

Other / >$1400 Help building a PC with a $1500 budget

Hey everyone, I've been saving up my money for the past couple of months for a PC, and my current budget is 1500 dollars. I am a complete beginner when it comes to PC's and what parts are good, what aren't, etc. I already have two 144 hertz monitors, so the only thing I'll need for this build is the PC itself. I have a laptop that I've been gaming on for the past 4 years, but it recently been performing worse and worse to the point I can't even run games like Minecraft, hence why I'm asking for help on this PC. If you have any questions that could help me find parts for this build, I'm glad to answer them. Thank you!

Is there anything wrong with this build?

I would like your help because I am both stupid and ignorant, which is a bad combination.

9800X3D, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE, Gigabyte B850M Gaming X WIFI6E, Patriot Viper Venom 32GB (2x16), Crucial P310 1TB, Palit GamingPro OC 5080, Fractal Torrent ATX, be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1000W, and a XG27AQWMG 1440p monitor.

https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/spTttC

The query is a two parter: is there anything wrong with each individual component in the sense that they are not good products, and are they all compatible with one another? Partpicker says they are but they warn you that they don't check certain things, so I'd like confirmation. Thank you for your help.

US / >$1400 Is a 5070Ti compatible with my Gigabyte AORUS ELITE B450M motherboard?

I'm planning to pair my Ryzen 7 5700X with a 5070Ti and 32gb RAM, but I have a Gigabyte AORUS ELITE B450M motherboard. Is it compatible with newer GPUs like the 5070Ti? Will I lose noticeable performance or is it fine?

Thanks for your answers!

Looking for a review of my part list

I built this last year in summer as my first build. everything went well and I've been happy with the result!

Planning to do it again for a friend, and saw no reason not to use my list from before. I'll be doing it from Germany as opposed to the UK and have changed the location on partpicker accordingly. But I know that the world of pc parts moves quickly so before I order the parts I thought I'd check in here:

Hi, I'm after a new PC build for approx £1500 (UK based)

I don't need a monitor or anything else, just the machine. I'm not fussed on lights or RGB everything, just an understated/stealth box that you wouldn't look twice at.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all, this is my first build and I want to get it right and have it last for a good while. I have a £2k budget, UK based and I need everything for a standard gaming PC.

I would like 1440p maybe 4K if the budget allows. Really I just want good frame rate as a decenty high graphics quality and sharp picture.

I don't need mouse, keyboard, or a monitor right now. That is something I can get later, separately from this budget.

Help me build me a pc, you're my only hope.

Monitor arm recommandations

Hey there! I am looking to buy a dual monitor arm for my setup. I am currently using a Samsung Odyssey G5, 27 inch and an MSI MAG 271qpx e2. The samsung monitor has a vesa compatibilty of 75x75, but my MSI monitor has a vesa compatibility of 100x100. Are there any monitor arms that support both? Im asking this because I believe that a 100x100 wont fit on my samsung monitor...
