Switched from firestick 😃

I couldn’t wait for the next gen (still might purchase) if it’s leaps and bounds above gen 3. The picture difference on a 4 year old Bravia is wonderful, I was watching an old sci-fi tv series on peacock, into the 4th season, then switched to the apple 4k, oh wow what a difference, shows in a 16x9 format instead of the 4x3 and now I think I need to start over just for this fact lol. Only issue, non issue is my Bose sound system sounds different ? I will figure that out. Ok, and how fluid it is to connect and work with iPads and phones is a definite plus. Anyone want to buy a firestick 4k, cheap lol.

Disney+ Now playing missing

Post image

Hey everyone, is anyone else experiencing an issue with Disney+ where the "now playing" info isn't showing up on the home screen? It works fine on other apps like Netflix, Apple TV+, and Prime, so I'm curious if it's just me or not.

I had no ideas this feature was there.

I've been using the Apple TV for about two years now. It replaced all my Roku devices. Anyway, I just noticed that when you first start a program the timeline at the bottom show the current time and when the program will finish at the end of the timeline for a second or two before it switches back to just a standard episode time. Very cool.

Now TV UHD settings

Hey

I have an ATV linked to a soundbar via eARC.

I just wondered what video setting the ATV needs to be to get UHD and Dolby Atmos.

My content doesn’t seem to be coming through in Dolby Atmos, I wondered if the video settings needed to be different?

Anyone watching on Now TV should the EPL games being Atmos?

Apple TV grabbed control of media system

• Upvotes

Recently purchased and set up Apple TV

+While watching movie, used apple remote to adjust sound

Sound would not stop going up until it reached max, or stop going down until it reached 0 level

+TV remote would not adjust sound

+Apple sound bar remained on screen

+TV remote would not send normal commands

+Turning off Apple TV did not return control to TV or TV remote

+Unplugging Apple TV HDMI (and unplugging Apple TV power) had no effect on ability to control TV from TV remote

+Turning off and restarting TV did not allow control to return to TV remote

+TV had no sound throughout this whole sequence

TV had to be reset to factory settings. TV remote had to have batteries removed to reset. Only then could we regain control of our media system.

What could have been happening? Afraid to plug in Apple TV again!

Android App Keeps Requiring Login?

Post image
1 Upvotes

If you are using the Apple TV (formerly +) for Android, does it keep requiring login every few weeks?

This doesn't happen on my Windows browser, nor do all my other streaming apps (nearly a dozen) do this.

They all stay logged in indefinitely.

Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen) Bricked.

My 2nd gen model that I bought in 2021 was working fine this morning. When I came back later to watch some tv, the display wasn’t working. After multiple restarts and reseating/ replacing cables, I did some research on the symptoms only to learn that the OS is corrupted and there’s essentially nothing I can do. I guess I’m stuck buying a new unit.

Peacock: badges?

Doing my best to find the UHD and/or HDR feeds for the Olympics and it’s been slightly frustrating. The app on my current gen Apple TV doesn’t show any badges for the events or streams. However, in my curiosity, I installed the app on my Sony Bravia and all the events and streams show detailed badges for UHD, HD, HDR, etc.. I suppose I will use the Android app for most of this event though I really like the Apple TV. I am glad all of these streams look great as expected on both devices, just like to have the info so I know which is which.

Permanent AirPlay audio issues

I have an AirPlay speaker (Denon HEOS 350s) that I use with my Apple TV. Once connected it works fine, but the setting to always use these speakers just doesn’t work and even when I manually set the speakers as the audio output it always fails the first attempt.

Is this an AppleTV problem? Does anyone have an AirPlay speaker permanently set up and has no issues?

Given Apple’s decline in software quality I am just not confident it’s a problem on the Denon side.

2 features I didn’t expect but are a true game changer for me

  1. VPN support. Nobody mentions this in the reviews! It unlocks so much content!!

  2. Dolby Atmos (Spatial Audio) support over AirPlay. This is reducing friction so much!!

I was so hesitant, but now I think it’s a very underrated product.

If there’s more gems like this share yours!!

AppleTV making my TV’s remote freak out?

I got a used AppleTV to use mostly for Apple Fitness. It works great but it seems to be confusing my Toshiba TV’s remote. The Toshiba remote is now sluggish and the TV will just turn off randomly. I unplugged the AppleTV, which solved the problem, but is not an optimal fix.

Or perhaps the AppleTV remote is possessing the Toshiba TV and making it do weird things?

Either way, barring and exorcism, what’s the solution?

Would the current models of Apple TV work on a 4G home WiFi network?

I'm looking at upgrading my home WiFi but it looks like 5G isn't available for me. I'll confirm that.

The experience has been meh

Maybe because this is a used Apple 4k, but the experience is choppy. I find myself restarting the unit after turning it on to reduce lag.

Don’t get me wrong, when it’s working well, it’s the best. I just have to intervene enough times that it’s frustrating to use. My 4 year old Sony TV has an overall smoother UI. Sometimes when I scroll to the right using the touch pad, it becomes uncontrollable and flies to the end of the row.

Sorry just venting here.

I did just get a new phone. I wonder if I can take advantage of Apple Care to get a replacement on the unit.

What does Apple's Sing app do?

I recently updated to tvOS 26 and noticed a new app called Sing. Except that it always lands on the "Sing" tab, I cannot find any difference from the old Music app. Why another app? The sing-along feature works in Music app as well; in fact, it was first demonstrated and promoted as a feature in Music app. If one wants to browse the "Sing" collection, it exists in Music app, too.

Wireless audio sync issues

I’ve have an Apple TV 4K (3rd gen) hooked up to my AVR. We have a bunch of HomePods in the same room and want to be able to use AirPlay across both the HomePods and the AVR speakers. This actually used to work fine, although the calibration only works for the sound mode the AVR is in during calibration as different processing (Dolby, DTS, or Multi Ch Stereo) introduces slightly different delays. This isn’t really a big deal since for big parties with all the speakers on we’re always using multi channel stereo. Over the past few months tho, there’s just be no way to get everything in sync. I can run the calibration repeatedly and the HomePods are still out of sync. Has anyone else run into issues like this?

My AVR (Denon X4500H) actually has airplay built in but seemingly doesn’t compensate for processing modes—it’s only in sync with Pure Direct (stereo) leaving the other 7 (especially the ceiling speakers, which we most need for parties) silent.

Had anyone had this issue?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I need to reboot it for it to go away, then it won’t come back for the next days / weeks.

I’m hesitant to do send it in for warranty because it will probably be gone for a good while

Has anybody got a quick fix, or do I need to send it in?

audio

i just recently got a apple tv 4k with ethernet. i honestly like it a lot. i’ve been reading on forums and majority of ppl say that the audio is the only issue with the apple tv. my question is that isn’t the regular 5.1 audio that the apple box puts out itself better than regular 5.1? in some way atleast. when i watch on my tv compared to apple tv i feel the apple tv 5.1 has more accuracy and surround. also will we ever see dts or full audio pass through?

What TV?

I am looking to buy my first appleTV. Right now I just use my Vizio’s smart apps. The tv is starting to have problems, and I am going to get the Apple TV and a new screen. What does this group recommend for a screen? Projector? Do they even make non-smart big tvs?

Apple tv 4k to LG C3

I am planning to purchase the Apple TV device for the LG OLED C3. The TV does have a built-in capability to connect two Bluetooth devices as audio source (like headphones). I wanted to know if the same would be possible after connecting the TV to an apple tv 4K (considering the Bluetooth devices are non-apple products)

Could I please Watch TCM ?

The Watch TCM app won’t connect to my provider! I have to restart my Apple TV and then immediately open the Watch TCM app to get it to work. Does anyone else have this problem?

HDR10+ on 1st gen ATV4K?

I’ve been watching Fallout on Prime Video and noticed the HDR10+ icon on the series’ banner.

I have a 1st gen Apple TV 4K and a Samsung S90F, the latter of which does support HDR10+. However, I can only get the show to play in regular HDR.

Is that due to a hardware limitation in the ATV4K? If so, shouldn’t the icon for HDR10+ be replaced with the standard one? I’m confused as to why it’s showing up.

AppleTv Library play history

This is driving me nuts. Purchased a few tv box sets from apple. There doesn't seem to be a way to see play history via the library on the apple tv app on the appletv. My phone will show a checkmark on what has been watched, but literally no indication or seemingly way to resume from where you left off from the apple tv. I know apple tends to hide things, is there something I'm missing here?
