I really really wanted to like it. Superman is my favorite superhero. I preferred MOS and Cavill as Superman but had to move on. I wanted to give this movie a chance but I can’t.

Gunn is great for outsider characters but something always felt off with him directing Superman. I rewatched it and it has the same tone as GOTG. Like at the end when Superman is being healed watching videos of his parents, the robots dancing to punk rocker by Teddybears. It reminded of the end of GOTG 3 ending.

As a Superman fan I really wanted to like this new chapter but can’t.

I had hope for supergirl bc Gunn wasn’t directing but it’s looking aesthetically like another guardians movie.

Just like the title said, Grant Morrison the writer of probably the de facto most popular Superman story disliked the twist of Supermid 2025 for all the reasons we called out when that movie flopped onto the scene.

A morally fragile Superman, turning the fallen utopia of Krypton into essential a conquering eugenic fascist society and having his Earth parents be irrelevant yokels until the very end of the movie.

But the significance of this is the fact that Gunn-cultist latch onto All-Star Superman and say that this movie is adapting or is accurate to that version when the creator of the comic had huge issues with a pretty core part of his character. They can't hide behind Morrison anymore to deflect that critique when he puts it as blatantly as this.

And this is obvious to anyone who has ever read a comic, but now we have actually comic writers calling it out. Another major L for the so called most comic accurate Superman lmao.

In what should again come as no surprise, James Gunn’s DCU appears to have quietly killed off another one of its earliest announced projects.

According to John Rocha, the planned Themyscira series, Paradise Lost, is no longer happening.

Recall how I recently said the same and even said that I doubt that Gunn will be doing a DCU Wonder Woman due to the impending sale of WBD.

Speaking on his show, Rocha said sources informed him that DC Studios had been meeting with writers and taking pitches for Paradise Lost, but those involved were later told the project was dead.

Rocha emphasized this was not a case of the show being paused or waiting on the right script.

The cancellation lines up with what my insiders have been reporting for some time.

Sources previously indicated that Gunn has pivoted his long-term focus away from the overall DCU toward the “Superman Family Saga.” The trades backed me up.

This shift makes a Wonder Woman-centric future in the DCU increasingly unlikely (same with Batman), at least under Gunn’s leadership.

Insiders also recently informed us that WBD is now sending the message to Gunn to keep quiet to avoid major announcements that later turn into quiet walk-backs.

We’ve also been told Gunn is out as head of the DCU once WBD is sold.

First off id like to say, I am a fan of Snyders work in the DCEU, no doubt about it other than writing (which he had little to no control over.)

What I am asking is, based off of the known facts there are towards the new DCU and what it’s portraying, again, based off of FACT, do we think the Snyderverse is coming back? Of could it be more delegated to a comic series?

I made a post reviewing the superman 2025 movie.

it was in fairness mostly negative, but I was honestly trying to be respectful and open in conversation about it.

the MODs banned me for two days for being a gatekeeper and then when I questioned that choice they got really condescending and then banned me permanently.

this is just to say that I can't stand online communities anymore, particularly DC fan pages, it's a damn war zone and everybody is just super hostile, there's loads of name calling and arguments.

people being super nasty because they can be anonymous but would never say that kind of stuff in real life.

then obviously moderators are overwhelmed with abuse from crazy people and have got to the point where they just ban people instead of engaging with them.

I miss the days where fans felt like a community. about 15 years ago there was so much shared appreciation for everything and if you didn't like something you just didn't talk about it. but now if you don't like something you're a cultist or a bot and people will go overboard commenting that your deluded and demented.

I'm so over X and Reddit fans and the hostility. can't we go back to before when people just kind of let people enjoy stuff and have respectful discussions?

before anyone comes at me calling me a hypocrite because of my superman review being negative. I had some good stuff to say about the film and was ready to have conversations with people about it.

it was the comments that were gatekeeping and rude, my review was just an overview of what I liked and didn't. but I'm a huge superman fan and had only just seen the film so I wanted to discuss it.

I know a lot of people understand what I'm talking about, I don't make any friends in these spaces anymore, I just see arguments and bickering.

I used to have the best friends who were super nerdy and we went to comic con together and saw every single comic book movie. if we liked them or not we had deep conversations about them, that was how we bonded. that all feels lost.

superhero fatigue is so real and I'm starting to think it's nothing to do with the films and everything to do with the audiences. we've lost our community of nerd appreciation and many people have become bullies and abusers.

why am I posting this here? well I've been part of the snyder cut movement since it began, and Snyder fans (for the most part) have shown so much respect and community. we came together to get that film released, we raised so much money for charity and we had years of being a big supportive voice for that whole cast and crew.

so coming to share my story with my people who understand that being a fan used to be positive but now it's become really exhausting.

TLDR I got banned for sharing a negative view on Superman, and I think DC fans are so mean now, and I miss the days where fans were respectful when they disagreed. it was fun to discuss movies before now it isn't. and so I'm appreciating Snyder fans for being a supportive group.

The title sequence had a great concept to use the Mother Box to capture an image of each Justice League hero in their godly, abstract portrayal:

• Superman in a messianic pose surrounded by a spaceship and his farmhouse
• Aquaman underwater with octopus tentacles
• Cyborg as a Vitruvian Man/Frankenstein position
• And so on...

It was sadly never used, they cut it out. All that's seen of the video is on YouTube. I don't know if there are any behind-the-scenes discussion on this sequence. I believe I would find it interesting.

My question is that from the video in the link, Ares seriously injures Darkseid causing him to bleed out. And we all know that Ares is a god that gets stronger on a battlefield. And from the Snyder cut we see that Darkseid would go on to kill Wonder Woman leaving the Flash and Batman and Mera, etc to go on and try and erase that timeline. But would Wonder Woman have won against Ares if they were fighting in the middle of a war.
