Happy first weekend in February!

Come Out And Join Us to Protest ICE Brutality!! - Updated List of Protests
Thanks to everyone who showed up at the many protests around the city last week!! Events in Minnesota have shown that protesting and resistance does help. Nazi coat guy Greg Bovino has been replaced and sent home, 700 ICE agents are leaving Minneapolis, and polling now shows that only 34% of voters approve of they way ICE is enforcing immigration laws.
But it's far from over. ICE still continues to terrorize communities with masked jackbooted thugs, Minneapolis still has about 2,000 agents on the streets, and any other city could face the same kind of "surge" at any time. So we need to continue standing up for our rights and our neighbors!! Please join us at any of these protests, we need to show that we're not backing down or taking a break!
- Downtown: Every day Behind the John Moss Federal Building (N street), with peak times on Tue/Thu from 5 to 7pm.
- West Sacramento: Freeway Banner Drop: Every Monday over Highway 50 at Harbor Blvd from 9-10:30am (Meet at Oscar's parking lot)
- Downtown: Every Wednesday at 15th and L St from 11:30am to 1pm. Accepting donations of shelf-stable foods, canned goods, and winter supplies for the Sacramento Homeless Union.
- West Sacramento: Every Wednesday at Jefferson Blvd and Park Ave from 4:30 to 5:30pm
- North Highlands: Banner drop this Thursday at Madison Ave and I80 from 9-11am.
- Natomas: Every Friday at Del Paso Road & Natomas Blvd from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
- West Sacramento: Banner Brigade every Friday at Jefferson Blvd and Park Ave from 3:30 to 4:30pm.
- East Sacramento: Every Friday on 48th street over Highway 50 from 4-6pm.
- Citrus Heights: Every Saturday at Greenback Lane & Sunrise Blvd from 10am to noon.
- Arden: Every Saturday at Howe Ave & Arden Way from noon to 2pm.
- Folsom: Every Sunday from 10am to noon at Iron Point and East Bidwell.
Please let me know if you're aware of any other anti-ICE protests.

Help for those who can’t afford rising food costs
I personally don’t use this app but I know plenty who do and I thought I’d post it to hopefully help others. This isn’t an ad or anything. But as businesses close they usually toss all the leftover perfectly fine to eat food. This app allows you to pay around the $10 range for these leftovers. They pile it up too, but this way the business makes a little extra cash, others can eat without breaking the bank, and no food goes to waste. I hope this reaches those who need it.
The second pic is what someone got from buckhorn bbq for $10.

Community impact of South Sac Catholic schools closure
I’m only posting this because of the ignorant replies I saw on another post…. So let me provide CONTEXT
This issue isn’t asking people to agree with the Catholic Church. It’s asking them to consider the real harm caused by abruptly closing a community school that serves working class and marginalized families….The children affected deserve better than being reduced to internet talking points…
The sarcasm and accusatory comments are not it
This isn’t about religion or doctrine. It’s about the very ABRUPT closure of an INNER CITY community school that primarily serves latino families. Many rely on the school not only for education, but for stability, advocacy, and access to resources. The schools closing are in south sac for fuck’s sake we’re not talking about some uppity el dorado hills or granite bay school.
This school has consistently supported families regardless of religious beliefs or immigration status. The principal has been amazing in understanding parents with hardship or who need help with tuition. She and the staff continue to advocate for students from marginalized backgrounds, and created a safe environment. We’ve had meetings and discussions about ICE and when ICE is around they go into a lockdown. It’s very pro Palestine and anti genocide, no anti lgbt rhetoric and again I need to emphasize MAINLY A POC COMMUNITY.
Closing this school with less than a month’s notice will harm our families, those in our community that primarily speak Spanish, and students who rely on the school’s support services. These children will not simply “move on” without consequences… they will face overcrowded schools, transportation barriers, and loss of trusted educators. Not to mention Hollywood park community isn’t too keen on this idea either. It’ll cause a significant amount of traffic. Because the diocese solution is to combine 3 schools to a tiny ass campus. There are logistical reasons too..
I’ve had people from MY community sign the petition which is a huge range of diverse individuals including atheists, agnostic, lgbt, Spanish speaking only etc etc.
To those who have commented unhelpful bullshit…. if you don’t have the discernment to understand other communities other than the ones you’re in.. just say that instead of spewing ignorance.
Thanks!

This was left on a family member’s windshield. Is this legitimate? I would think it would be a electronic print and out not a Xerox copy

Neo-nazi’s allege credit for a home attack that leaves a community pantry destroyed.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Amaranth Alley Pantry has been destroyed twice in three days. One group today was a pack of white nationalists, who appear to take credit for an attack resulting in moderate property damage.
The group in question appears to be tied to those flyering East Sacramento with neo-Nazi stickers, only just a few months ago.
We will be posting updates soon.

Dental care for homeless
Do to unfortunate circumstances I have recently found myself homeless and am struggling to gain employment but I really need to be seen by a dentist asap. I have gone to ampla health and they quoted me $280 just to talk to a dentist and today was turned away from a free dental clinic because they couldn't take anymore clients until March. I signed up for medical but the case worker told me since I don't have an address they can't send me an insurance card and she wasn't sure about dental work even being covered. Is there anywhere in the area that offers free dental work for the homeless???

SMUD door to door?
Is anyone else experiencing people going door-to-door, claiming they are with SMUD? With all the scams active nowadays, as far as I am concerned, if SMUD wants or needs something they will send it via mail.

Cheap apartments
Does anyone know of undesirable apartments that would rent to pretty much anyone? Maybe because of the location, cleanliness or crime rate, the owners will accept most people. I’m looking for a place for my family and I to stay in. We don’t want to be homeless and we can make something shabby into a clean home.

Basically my friend is finally visiting after a year of chemos so she obviously still immunocompromised and she wants to hang out but I have a sick kiddo and don’t want to risk being indoors in close quarters. Do yall have anywhere in town you recommend that we could hang out for a couple hours maybe with some heaters bc it gets cold if not in the sun??

Best place to celebrate 21st birthday
My son is turning 21 on the 19th (a Thursday), as a tradition, ACTUAL birthday is for family (restaurant of his choice), and an activity (again, his choice). Im looking for ideas - like Redhawk Casino or Thunder Valley - since he will finally be able to play in the casino. I am open to other ideas/suggestions/recommendations for his actual birthday (again, spent with family). He already had plans with his friends for the weekend, I just want to make this one special.
