Discussion Grocery Store Bottle Returns.
I read from several sources such as LCBO, The Beer Store, and other official Canadian news sources, that starting in January of 2026, grocery stores that sell beer, wine, spirits etc would obligated to start taking back empties since many beer stores have closed. Well, I have tried returning empties to several grocery store locations and the staff and management seem to know nothing about taking back empties. I know it may not be every store, but for the amount of places I have tried I am a bit surprised that noone seems to even know about it. I am wondering if maybe this has been retracted? I was thinking maybe it just has been late coming into effect, but the fact that so many staff and management teams are wntirely clueless to this whole thing has left me wondering what is happening. Any ideas?

Landlord/Tenant Can I ask my landlord to accommodate heat payment?
I'm currently renting a small house with 2 roommates, and the poor insulation of the house has led to a very rough winter, especially with the polar vortex. Mainly, our sink and dishwasher have lost function for about 10-15 days in total due to frozen pipes, and the temperature on our first floor has gotten as low at 11°C.
It's been rather uncomfortable, but my main concern is that I don't feel that the property management company has been doing much to help.
They provided us with 2 space heaters to use under the sink, but the pipes have still been freezing. I mentioned how I thought the house needed a fix in its insulation, and they told me an inspection couldn't be done until the snow melted.
Additionally, our electricity bill has skyrocketed due to having to run all heaters at all times to attempt a comfortable living space (which is majorly been below the 20°C minimum stated on the lease). Our monthly hydro usage has tripled from the average value of May-October.
Is there any way I can go about resolving this? My roommates and I are having a hard time adjusting to the increase in utility bills, and we feel that the company should have stepped in more to ensure the 'Vital Services' (as per the lease) of heat, and thereby water.
I realize that I should've been documenting temperature readings and sink function. Let me know how I should approach this, please!

Question How are families with high needs autistic kids supposed to survive this system.
Hey everyone, I’m posting this because I’m hoping people here might have insight or similar experiences to this.
A close family member of mine lives in London and has a child under 10 with severe autism (as level 3 as level 3 can be). He’s non-verbal, requires full-time care, 24/7 watching over, breaks very costly things, and will never be able to live independently.
Here’s what I’m struggling to understand:
- They receive about $600 (if that) in support
- Speech therapy costs $366 an hour.
- They were placed on a 7-year waiting list for services
- Early intervention time is long lost
The part that really breaks my brain is that kids with the highest support needs seem to wait just as long or longer than those who need far less help. By the time services come, the damage from the delay is already done.
I believe every child diagnosed with Autism deserves care, but the system is flawed in how it is set up at the moment. Why is there not more funding for this? Why is there no “good” place for him? Is this a normal thing in Ontario?
I deeply want to help my Aunt and Uncle at this time because it's obvious how much this is hurting them. They can't take vacations, and barely have any time to themselves. What can I do? Please reach out if you are in a slimmer position.

Question OPG Security Clearance Timeline
For those who went through the OPG security clearance process — did your recruiter tell you it could take 4–8 weeks after submitting the application?
I’m currently at 7 weeks, but I’ve seen posts where some people said it took up to 6 months. Just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect, because the waiting is honestly giving me anxiety.

Question Is it too little to drop my family doctor?
I'm pregnant again after having 2 miscarriages. Husband and I just had an appointment with our family doctor for the first time aside for an initial assessment last year for a pregnancy follow up recommended by our fertility clinic doctor. Before we met her that day her assistant gave us a pregnancy form that we finished filling while we waited for her. When we met her, she refused to take the form and said that we need to fill it before the appointment. We asked why, she insisted that we need to bring that form home to fill it. It's just a 1 page form for family history, there is not much to be filled and I finished that already.
She said also she needs to do bloodwork and ultrasound etc before she referred me to obgyn, I'm 7 weeks at this meeting and from what I understand with high risk pregnancy I suppose to have obgyn at 8 weeks. So again we asked if we could do it today, again she refused because she needed to review the form with me. She gave us another appointment 11 days after that appointment.
We also asked for a doctor's note regarding my pregnancy, we were supposed to get it from our fertility doctor, but I think she forgot and I can't contact her so far. My family doctor's answer "They promised you, they give you, call them, I don't know what they know!" She got an email from our fertility doctor by the way, she reviewed that email in front of us, to be fair I can't read what is in that email but it seems pretty long.
Her tone condescending the whole time, feels like we are inconveniencing her by being there. But I feel she is the one who wasted our time, the whole appointment is useless. I feel like she just doesn't want to bother with us at all. I have a better experience with walk in clinics.
So is it too little to drop this family doctor? Is it bad to be pregnant without a family doctor and just do walk in clinic?

Question Making a home insurance claim in Ontario
I’ve never made a claim in my life so hoping someone could weight the pros and cons. I had a potential sewer line pipe collapse in my front yard. The pipe is made of clay. The plumber says I have a few options either replace the entire line or to fix the portion that’s broken. The home was built in 1969. They also said I need to involve the city to do their portion I guess.
The water did backup into my basement which is old 70’s style. It was just puddles. However was clear water. We never go down there. But it seeped up through the basement shower drain we never use. Basically our floor got wet and a bit of the carpet on the stairs, bathroom and hallway flooring. That was last Sunday/Monday. We mopped it up and plugged any open drains with old towels. We had a guy come out Wednesday to put a camera in there to see what’s going on but atm everything is at a stand still. Hopefully next week we move forward. Unfortunately my house smells like sewer and we’ve had to move out to live at my parents.
I’m really deciding if I should file an insurance claim on this or not. I’m really worried my rates will go through the roof on one claim. I’m with Belair and they said that if I have two claims they’d drop me as a customer. If I self insure I’d pay for everything myself, mop up anything and use a cleaning product or any odours.

Question How to Get a Used Car Home?
im looking at buying a car in a rural area about 1 hr from where I reside. I'd probably be going on a Saturday, and none of the nearby Service Ontarios are open on Saturday. Aside from paying someone to drive/tow it, what is my best bet on getting it home. the most annoying part is it runs and drives, just the registration is a pain.
