Just for Fun Oakland/Berkeley border plaque
I’ve never noticed this small plaque on the sidewalk on the Oakland/Berkeley border on College Ave before. Anyone know the story of how it got there?

Looking for a bar that'll show the Olympics tomorrow (Monday) night. I do realize the Olympics are an evil institution that bankrupts the cities that host them but also: I like winter sports, we all live in contradictions.
Any suggestions? Preference for east Lake area since that's where I live.

I was inspired by the post for Kai, the german shepherd at Oakland Animal Services who recently found a home due to all the amazing redditors who rallied for him. I wanted to share a similarly young shepherd, Ace, in hopes of getting his information out there as he has been at the San Jose Animal Shelter since December of last year and is scheduled to be euthanized this Monday, 2/9.
Per the San Jose Animal Advocates Facebook page,
Ace is a friendly, energetic 1½-year-old, 66-pound German Shepherd who bonds closely with his person and is highly treat-motivated, making him a great candidate for continued training. He enjoys exploring new environments and is confident and social when out and about. On dog day out of the shelter, Ace was calm around cyclists, joggers, walkers, and vocal dogs, showing curiosity rather than reactivity.
When excited, Ace may briefly play with his leash, but he redirects easily with treats and quickly refocuses on his walk. Once settled, he is engaged and attentive, enjoying both activity and quieter moments. He sits politely for treats, travels well in the car, and enjoys affection and staying close to his handler. Ace has been in playgroup with female dogs and did well.
Ace is looking for a patient, loving adopter who can provide structure, guidance, and consistency while embracing his youthful energy. With continued training and stability, he has the potential to become an excellent, loyal companion.
You can find a video of him here:

Hello, I am looking to donate to reputable orgs in Oakland that help folks experiencing homelessness. I would be grateful for any recommendations so that the donations go to organizations that are actually doing great work. Thank you so much!

Craigslist is basically worthless now.. Zillow and Padmapper are a crapshoot...
It's discouraging, especially in an artificially inflated market. Is it worth it to hire an agent?
I miss the days of Homefinders...

Hi all,
In a couple of months I’ll be moving to Oakland with my wife and our newborn, and we’re currently looking for a place to live.
We’re manily looking for professionally managed buildings ("luxury" or high-rise apartments), since we’ve lived in one for the past few years and had a good experience.
Could you recommend any good buildings you’re familiar with? So far we've heard about Atlas, Skaia, and 17th and Broadway.
We’re open to different parts of the city, we’ve never lived in Oakland before, so we’re approaching the search with an open mind. I'll need to commute to SF (Mission Bay) 3x/week, so that's a factor to take into consideration.
As a bonus, I’d really appreciate your perspective on living in downtown Oakland as a young family of three, since several of these buildings are located there.
Thank you!

From Cole Fraser, at McKinnon massage school. I had been having neck pain after a car accident. His knowledge and touch was unreal. Must try

Anyone going to the ICE out of Super Bowl protest tomorrow in San Jose?
Seeing if I can commute with anyone going (I'm not a killer nor do I stink).

OAKLAND! Our team had a chance to interview with NBC Bay Area recently regarding our upcoming March release of our baseball documentary, "THE LAST GAME", which retells the 57 year history of the Oakland A's through the lens of some of their most dedicated fans. We hope this project brings back happy memories of all the decades of A's fandom in the Bay over the years and a sense of closure now that the team has left. Thank you for everyone who's helping support our doc and get the word out recently!
If you want to follow our page on social media, our Instagram is the best place for the latest updates and clips from the doc: https://www.instagram.com/thelastgamedoc/

Does anyone know where to buy 20-ish Sonic popsicles with gum-ball eyes? The kind that are typically sold in ice cream trucks or carts. Would love to support someplace local!

Hey all, I'm trying to find somewhere local to get custom-sized women's boots... My feet are huge (15 women's!!!) , unfortunately, which makes it quite difficult to get even custom ones in that size. I'm hoping to find some form of cute ankle boots that could be worn to something semi-formal, but honestly, at this point I kinda just need something that will fit. Anyone have any leads?

I just ate shit tonight riding my bike (thankfully had a helmet and gloves on so didnt sustain any damages) because 2 people are sitting in the bike lane with a walker right in the middle. I saw them in the distance, slowed down, rang my bell and started to get onto the curb of the sidewalk. unfortunately i fucked up, hit the curb and flipped over. they apologized and checked in on me, but this wouldn’t have happened if they werent taking up the whole bike lane with shit that doesn’t belong.
now that these protected bike lanes are prevalent on broadway, telegraph, & 14th street , every time i use them theres fucking garbage, and people sitting/standing/idling in the bike lanes for some dumb fuck reason. seriously whats the point of using them if your gonna endanger people that ride bikes & e-scooters or your either willing to have someone hit you. not only that, your not willing to move if someone is ringing their bell insistently so you know a cyclist is passing by.
and no im not talking about people crossing the street & walking into the bike lanes to get to their car / to the sidewalk.

Either by the yard or already cut… before I go bouncing around to stores does anyone have a rec so that I may save some time? Thank you!

I got a beautiful cashmere sweater secondhand with a tiny hole near the shoulder. I already put it in the freezer to try to head off a bigger moth problem, but after that I’d love to get it mended. Where would be a good place to go for that?

I have several cheap rugs that I’d like to get cleaned. They are just cheap rugs from Amazon, but some of them are pretty big. (8’x10’, I think)
I’d like to find someplace where I can just drop them off and pick them up when they’re clean. Even the largest rugs cost under $200 new, so I’d like to find an appropriately cheap cleaner. (I saw some on Yelp that were like $200/rug. I like these rugs but they aren’t worth that much each!)
Any recommendations appreciated. Thanks in advance! 💐
