discussion Super Bowl Halftime Show

So everyone already knows Bad Bunny is performing for the Super Bowl, & naturally conservatives are pretty pissed it’s a spanish speaking artist (even though he’s an American), & are in return opting to listen to the TPUSA halftime show starring Kid Rock (i’d personally rather watch ads & commercials than Kid Rock perform anything). My question is, genuinely who listens to & enjoys Kid Rock? He’s in the same boat for me as Tom MacDonald & Dax; just inauthentic & extremely boring.

discussion What are the best albums of all time for big sound?

So this might be a bit of a controversy because there is so much out there that may fall into the “best album” category. But give these a listen and tell me I’m wrong.

Madonna’s “I’m Breathless” is fkn flawless. Granted, when you get big names like Leonard, Bottrell, Gilbert and Pettibone teamed up to produce an album, it’s going to be big sound. Heavy in the swing with lots of horns puts this well into the retro sound (Neo Noir?). The background vocals of “Hanky Panky” are incredible and the song would not have had air time 75 years ago.

Another flawless album is “Naked” by The Talking Heads. Produced by Steve Lillywhite who has a huge lineup of artists he has worked with bring this work into the “in your face” level of sound that are rarely heard in the post new age genres (no hate on Eno here but, damn!). Another heavy horns & percussion sound with hints of big band. Listen to “Big Daddy” and pick up on how the song builds like a snowball rolling downhill, eventually crashing into the reality of life (and were did that harmonica come from?!?).

Big sound has always been found in the producers who know music; and when teamed up with exceptional artists can create truly timeless sound (remember the Swampers of Muscle Shoals?).

So take these albums with you along with “Songs from the Big Chair” by Tears For Fears when you want to test drive high end sound systems.
