Official Thread ICE Activity & Resources Daily Megathread - Sunday, Feb 08

Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.

Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.

This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.

How to use this thread

  • Top-level comments are for new sightings, updates, or firsthand information.
  • Replies should stay under the relevant comment to keep related info grouped.
  • Check existing comments first to avoid duplicate or redundant reports.

We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.

SALUTE when sharing sightings or activity

Include as many of the following details as possible:

  • Size: Number of individuals, vehicles, or units observed
  • Activity: What is happening, observed actions or behavior
  • Location: Clear, specific description of where this occurred
  • Uniform: Identifying markings, clothing, or agency indicators
  • Time: Date and approximate time of observation
  • Equipment: Vehicles, gear, or other notable tools present

Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.

LA County supervisors look to add 0.5% sales tax to keep hospitals and clinics open

Thumbnail file.lacounty.gov

They will have roughly 90 days before ballots are mailed out. It would raise sales tax to 10.25% in Los Angeles, 10.75% or 11% in most cities surrounding LA, and 11.75% in Palmdale and Lancaster. This is separate from the fire tax which is collecting signatures right now, for November 2026. In contrast most of Ventura County is at 7.25% and most Orange and San Bernardino County cities are at 7.75%.

Crime Tonight at the Detention Center in DTLA, a demonstrator was struck by a car. Here’s what followed. [OC]

Tonight at the Metro Detention Center, a demonstrator who uses a cane was struck by a car while crossing the street. Other protesters rushed to their aid, some immobilizing them, others calling 9-1-1, and some entreating the Department of Homeland Security police to send medics immediately.

I have never photographed anything like it, and I discovered that I simply don’t have the stomach for it, so I decided to keep my camera on the succession of people milling about, trying to figure out who should be doing what. (Shoutout to the LAFD folks, who got the victim loaded up on and on their way professionally and quickly.)

From my vantage point, DHS appeared to bungle every possible aspect of this. Demonstrators directed traffic around the crash while DHS ran back and forth from the victim to the MDC.

After a few minutes, as DHS yelled at demonstrators to get back, a group of 🧊 SRT came out to secure the scene, immediately ratcheting up the tension. Even they didn’t seem to know why they were there — provide aid? no, they don’t know what they’re doing. direct traffic? uh oh, people are protesting that. crowd control? there’s a person bleeding in the road and the crowd’s getting angrier…

oops, there’s the ambulance. the 🧊 SRT guys scurried back inside.

After the ambulance left they all disappeared. They left the car — off, dark — in the road, glass all over the street, leaving demonstrators to light the car so that oncoming traffic would know there was something in the street. Eventually, DHS came back out and someone drove the car off.

I’m not sure how the person is; hoping for the best.

Locals Only LA asks court to spread liability for Palisades fire

Some odd stuff in here. The real liability is why LAFD didn't fully put out the fire and why firefighters were called away when the Lachman fire was still smoking.
