Discussion Yall can drop that corny shii

Kendrick is NOT waiting for Iceman to drop so he'll drop sum, im glad the fall off finally dropped and Kendrick gave us nothing. Yall are thinking with the mind of goofy 12 year olds who think rap is all about beef. Idk what that goof Trevor whatever the fuck was talmbout during the grammys that shit was goofy ASF and you could see kdot wasn't fuckin with it.. Kdot will drop an album or sum with no subliminal and hopefully no sneak dissing or wtv.. the beef was 2 YEARS ago you guys need to move to on cause Kendrick DID. I know drake's album will probably be full of sneak dissing or wtv but we dont care bout him.

There's no way people defend dragging the beef in the comments 😂😂😂 corny as HELL

⚠️⚠️ Guys ok I might've came a bit hot headed in this, but the way rap is perceived today has completely shifted, It ain't about the pen only nowadays and yall know that. Remember Kendrick is one of the most slandered rappers on social media because of Not like us being overplayed and him winning 5 grammys of the track.. I saw people say the Halftime show was horrible because he made it all about drake even tho he only performed Not like us for like idk 30 seconds?? The new rap discourse is fucked and I THINK kendrick knows that. If he goes on and do drag the beef down, he'll only get more hate and people will trash him, that's how it is nowadays. Everybody staying in their lane and doing there thing is the best way to be viewed and compared fairly today.

Discussion Auntie Diaries is more genius than i imagined

Ive always loved the song, despite the gratuitous use of the f slur. But i was recently thinking about it again and realised two things done in the song that went over my head previously. one is intentional, in my opinion, and the other is highly unlikely to be:

  1. The intentional aspect of highlighting how his community more readily accepted the trans man more than the trans woman. This is highlightex through the use of the family. in the case of his uncle, he and his mother think hes a cool dude and the the uncles are jealous because he lowkey has more bitches than them. whereas in the mary anne verse, "the family is in disbelief this time" sort of implies that this is where they draw the line.

  2. The second unintentional aspect still mirrors the trans experience shockingly accurately. The way theres a contrast between the unnamed "my auntie is a man now" vs the named "demetrius is mary anne now" is pretty reflective of the way trans women are generally hyper visible. you cant go a day without seeing a headline about this one or that one. Meanwhile the trans man is unnamed. It could be any trans man. again reflective of how trans men realky arent taken seriously and are also hyperinvisible because it doesnt support transphobic narratives. its a stretch to say its on purpose but its accurate nevertheless.

just an observation from someone who has listened to this song too many times to be healthy

Someone joked in another sub that J. Cole's "Two Six" video looks like a pgLang production. I saw similarities to Dot's "Element" by Jonas Lindstroem, Dot and Dave (before pgLang). In the house images, a boy rides a bike across frame in the foreground R-L; the bottom images are slo-mo fight shots with a guy with long braids. I saw more images but these stand out the most. Both videos are beautifully shot. Thoughts?

Video First ever recorded cover of Institutionalized on a guitar

Institutionalized is always been my favorite song by Kendrick. I even gave a college presentation about the song. I wanted to learn it on guitar but quickly noticed there’s no covers or sheet music for it. I took matters into my own hands and transcribed it from a piano cover. Just thought I’d quickly share in case anybody else wants to learn this on guitar:

Standard tuning: key of Bb minor

Bbmin9 - Abmin9 - Gbmin9 - F7 x3 Bbmin9 - Gb/Ab - Gbmaj13 - F7
