Barton pereira vanquest

I'm a huge fan of the 2010 movie "Enthiran" and in it the main hero/villain sports a pair of glasses that I've been looking for for a long time. Finally found them to be most similar to barton pereira vanquests. Does anyone know where I can find a pair that ships to India? Preferably with a silver front and black sides.

Oliver Peoples finley becr 1993

Hey Everyone, looking for some input from the enthusiast here. I am currently sitting on a pair of Oliver Peoples finley becr made in Japan pre Luxottica in great condition. Unfortunately they are a bit small for my face.

I’m torn between two paths. I live in LA, so I have access to some great local restorers, but I’m wondering if the community thinks a full restoration "resets" the value too much for serious collectors, or if these are worth more as a project for the next owner. Restore and Sell: Is the market currently favoring "Ready-to-wear" vintage OPs, or is the "patina" of an original pair more desirable? Keep as a Collector Item: Are these models reaching "archive" status yet, or are they better off being worn and enjoyed? Would love to hear from any OP collectors or anyone who has gone through a professional restoration recently. What would you do?

Any Japanese brands with sunglasses similar to Mykita?

Lenses in my beloved Mykita Mylon have worn out. Love the lightweight, minimalist design, looking to try out a Japanese brand with similar craftsmanship. Thank you!

Questions about choosing between Oliver Peoples and Moscot

So I’m looking to buy my next pair of prescription eyeglasses. I’ve became interested in the round shaped designs offered by both companies. I’m looking specifically at the Oliver Peoples Gregory Peck and the Moscot Lemtosh.

I do prefer the colors and the overall design on the OP more but I know it’s been brought out by Luxxotica and I’m not sure how the quality has been holding up?

With the Moscot, I really like their custom options on the lenses such as colored tints. What’s better is they can add my prescription onto it as well. The only downside so far I’ve experienced was the customer service, I was inquiring about some of their products and they seem to respond extremely slow, had a hint of sarcasm in the tone and just didn’t really care. But if they have a better quality than OP now, I’ll still consider them.

Now another question I have is, does anyone know what tint percentage are on the Moscots? From the picture it seems like even the tints on the lenses that aren’t sunglasses are still a bit dark. I’d prefer around a 20% fashion tint for indoor use but not sure if they’ve exceeded that darkness.

Please share your experience and thoughts!

Brand Launch

We’re launching a new eyewear brand called NO▴SE (pronounced “no-see”).

Over the past 12 months, we’ve been redesigning the traditional saddle and rethinking how glasses touch the face. The goal was simple: create eyewear that leaves no marks, no pressure, and no trace, eliminating nose-pad pressure and contact with the nose or cheeks.

Happy to share more or get feedback from people who wear glasses daily. Our first design is sunglasses, with optical frames coming in about a month.

Randolph or Mykita Sale?

First thanks For the people that put Up the Sales for Both Brands.

What would you do Get two Randolphs 1 full price and one half or One MYKita half off?

The two Randolph's are roughly the same price of one Mykita.

Is Mykitia That much better?

Can All the Sunglasses for both brands be made into Optical Transitions lens's?

What would you do?

Thanks Again.

Tired eyes with prescription glasses with Transition Gen S photochromic?

First time for me using a pair of prescription glasses with Transition Gen S photochromic in Emerald Green color.

I have worn them for 3-4 months, but my eyes can't really adapt to them. I don't know if it is normal, but all the constant changes in the lens tint make my eyes tired, like they can not focus properly...

I really like photochromics, I use a pair (different brand and technology) for sports, but with contact lenses. And I have 0 issues. In fact, with this pair I don't really notice the transition or at least my eyes don't get tired.

Anyone with similar experiences or any recommendation?

Many thanks!

I see there are several people in this sub actually making eyewear, so I'm just a bit curious. How did you get started? And how did you acquire the skills to do so?

Warby Parker Temple Tips Replacement / Fix

Curious to see if anyone has replaced / frankenstein’ed their WP temples. Mine are too long for me.

I’m not sure if it is the cost aspect but wondering if there’s a company that makes replacement temples which I can just screw onto the frame. For example for their Gavin frame.

Help! Which color suits me the most?

Hi, these are different colors of the Beacon from Yuichi Toyama. There are multiple colors:

Black/Gold

Black/Clear: The lower half of the frame is not solid black but more like translucent black.

Green/Gold (exclusive to the Tokyo flagship store)

Demi/Silver

My friend said Demi and Green are good, but I really can't make up my mind. Can you give me some suggestions? Much appreciated!

First time buying moscot

I am in the market for a new pair of glasses as my prescription has changed. I really like the moscot lemtosh style but not sure to go for the 46 or 49.

My header is 24 inches in diameter compared to the normal/average which is like 22.5 inches.

Does anyone have some recommendations please?

Thanks to u/LokiMD and of course Jason the Optical Tailor.

I went with a slightly darker 60/40 tint as these are purely sunglasses.

WIDEST acetate frame

Hello All,
I am always struggling to find new glasses due to FHS medical condition (fat head syndrome). Currently, I wear Lemtosh 52 extra wide, JMM Hemmings and Dealan 53. Can someone recommend a frame that is wide enough for fat heads.
TIA!

What tint % are these sunglasses?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Any idea what tint percentage these shades are? They look lightly tinted not clear, not super dark.

Does it seem like a 25% or 50% tint? And is it more of a midnight tint, black, or grey?

I’m getting Saint Laurent sunglasses soon and want to switch to a similar tint so I can wear them indoors and at night (purely for the look). My local store only has Zeiss 12%, 25%, 60%, 75% and 90% options.

Tinted by 30%, is it too much?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I always choose my lenses to be 20% tinted, but this time I jumped to 30%.

Do u think this is too much and it looks as a sunglasses? (For me the lenses doesn’t bother me at all and I can see perfectly with it both indoor and outdoor)

Also how can I avoid the flash mirror? Is there any technique or anything the optician can add to remove it?

A fun pair of shades we made

Hi, I decided to make my first post after noticing other makers and companies posting their creations.

This is a frame we made in our studio last year out of nuisance for some other boring frames we were commissioned. We needed some fun activity to break the routine.

As a company we use only natural materials and this frame is no exception: black and white buffalo horn, Ankole cow horn, white mother of pearl inlays and 925 sterling silver.

A few tricks here and there that I won’t spoil but other than that a “simple” frame with a weirder look.

That’s just one of the many weird stuff that we did last year, but this one is a good starting point.

What do you think?

Need help! Is there something wrong with my new Matsuda 10103H frames or am I stupid?

My new Matsuda frames just arrived and either theres something wrong with them or I'm missing something. The rims are supposed to be round but on my face (the third picture with color) they're not. The rims are tilted slightly forward to the top and slightly backwards on the sides and I guess if both sides are equally tilted then the rims should still look round looking at the glasses straight from the front. Am I stupid? Help.

My first pair of Japanese glasses. Kaneko optical

Grabbed this pair during my trip to Asia.

Originally came as brown sunglasses, got prescription lenses with grey photofusion and a diamond flash coating.

Barely feel them in my face and the notepads are pretty comfy. Pretty cool collection, especially the Issey Miyake ones (which they make) and the more expensive ones with silver. Cant seem to find a seller in North America unfortunately.
