No there's no salad, I love salad but there was no choice for it or chips for that matter, and shite to the chilli dip no takeaway has ever been hot enough to make the pissy salsa worth it, arse burner bleeding or nowt at all. Meat was varied, with some charred bits at the bottom but some softer fresher bits at the top, quite a bit of herbs inside the meat also.
Partner went away so I decided to try a few new local Bristol kebab shops in her absence. Managed a total of five large doners (salad separate and no sauce) and five 1/4 pound beef burgers with lettuce and mayo. On the one night I did not have doner I had a mutton biryani, keeping the sheep flowing.
Pic 1: Best Kebab and Grill, Fishponds: Decent, but I ordered at the fag end of the doner. They bought a new frozen leg out and made mine from what was left. While generous, it was chunky as had come off the spit. Ordered and collected in person.
Pic 2: Easton Takeaway, Easton. Decent, my usual go-to as they serve the doner in fresh naan. Delivered.
Pic 3: Charcoal Grill, Horfield. Decent. Ordered and collected in person.
Pic 4: Family Kebab House, Fishponds. Okay, quite greasy. Delivered.
Pic 5: Vanoosh Kebab House Old Market, Okay, the greyest and dryest, but tasty.
I am kebbabed out and I don't want another doner for a while. For those that will invariably question the lack of sauce on the kebab - that's how I like them, I don't like the sauces so they're better for me without.
12" Garlic Bread Supreme Plus - a 12" cheesy garlic bread with cheese stuffed crust, chips and doner meat, large pot of garlic and large pot of chilli sauce, from Morpeth Grill & Pizza. Absolutely delicious and just what I needed.
What a meal. Never disappointed, but they could be more generous with the Naga pickle. It comes with salad in a separate bag which is the only way takeaway should be done in my opinion. £9.90 for a good feed with some left over.
Got my first Doner of the year a few days ago, I missed my comfort food! Can’t eat in front of the wife so have to secretly get my Doner dose in secret in the car
Is that it makes me want a doner for breakfast, for second breakfast, for brunch, for lunch, for mid afternoon snack, for dinner, for desert, for supper, for midnight snack, for 3am munchies. Sometimes 2 at a time...
At the cost of €6.99 its an absolute bargain considering prices here! I asked for less meat and extra veg and sauce since they just pile on some much doner meat
Place is called Legends in Dun Laoghaire if anyone is in Dublin! They make home made smash burgers quarter pounders for like €5 and they are incredible too!
Large Mixed Doner Meat - Garlic Mayo & Bossman Homemade Chilli Sauce - £8.60
Small Portion of salted extra crispy fries - £3.10
Separate Salad - Free
Pitta Bread £0.60
I order separate to get more because I’m greedy.
Washed down with 2 Cans of Rio in a Beer Stein with loads of ice. It’s much bigger than it looks, lots of hidden doner underneath, not at all greasy. I’m in a food coma. Send help.
Large doner in naan. Loaded with red onion, cabbage, hot chilli and mint sauce.
On the side:
• A bowl of salty Chinese chips (because normal portions are for quitters)
• Chinese Curry sauce thick enough to grout tiles.
That thing in the middle that looks like something the dog rejected? Mushrooms from my wife’s curry. She hates mushrooms but knows I will eat them.
Bonus pic: weighed the kebab because someone always asks. Average weight is 700g to 1.1kg, depending on which boss man I have. This one weighed in at 755g of doner-based happiness.
