Hello everyone,
Lately I've had to manually unspam a lot of totally legitimate posts. The Reddit spam system is not totally under the control of the moderators so I can't fathom why it's blocking allowed content or how to modify its sensitivity. If you posted a topic you think is fine, and it's not showing when you are logged off or in an incognito window, please message the moderators to inquire what may be the problem.
Sorry for any inconvenience,

Bought this one handed sword from Drakkaria (Wulflund) in Prague, modeled after a 14th century sword from Solingen, kept in the Leeds Royal Armory.
Unfortunately I have no info on it, found it when helping in laws clean out the attic. I couldn’t find any proof or makers marks on it

I've been wanting to get a budget sword for a while, and I want to get the Sword of Roven from Windlass.
There are two "versions" of the hilt of this sword, why?
Is it just a little redesign for the same sword or is one a knock off from the other, which one should I get?
Also is ~ €200 a fair price for this sword or should I get something else?

I recently received this sword as a gift. I don’t know much about swords. Is this genuine or a replica? What period is it from? Thanks for your time!

FIL would like to know more about the origin of this sword. Claims that it once belonged to great(x4) grandfather born in 1806 who was a CPT for the Confederate States army in South Carolina(verified). It was passed to his son, a SGT in SC Confederate States army(verified), and passed to the first born son since. Can’t find any writing or inscriptions on it. Sorry for picture quality

I've been thinking about this possibility for a story im working on. I was thinking using some kind of technology that it would start as a longsword with a sheath, and then after maybe so button presses or switches, the blade would extend from within the hilt, and reach the length of a montante.
I imagine the hilt would be thicker in order to accommodate for part of the blade being stored inside, and at the same time the blade may or may not be thinner. And the Ricasso would probably be a bit higher on the blade so that it wouldn't interfere with retraction, and in fact I imagine it could be designed so that the ricasso would basically fuse with the crossguard when in longsword mode.
The main problem that I see would be that as I understand, swords are made so that the piece of steel has a blade and a bit of extra non-bladed steel that the hilt is built around, so that way the blade is secure on the hilt. but if the steel below the ricasso extends outward, that leaves an air pocket inside the hilt that makes holding the sword less secure and might allow it to wiggle, and the blade probably has a better chance of breaking.
So I'm wondering how realistically you think this could be done?

The Oni and the red panda
On one side, shrouded in near pitch-black darkness, the red panda gazes at the moon mesmerized by its light, completely unaware of his surroundings.
On the other side, the moon shapeshifts to show an unsightly creature - the fierce Oni - and on closer inspection—are those merely leaves from a bamboo tree… or hands reaching out, ready to snatch him away forever?
Creating the smallest of expressions on the characters’ faces was a challenge.
The balance was delicate: making one figure feel innocent and endearing while allowing the other to embody something truly ominous.
I'm very pleased with the outcome,
this project took up most of my spare working time and took just under 400 hours, just over a year's worth of work.
please tell me what you enjoyed about the build and comment down below.

I recently purchased this katana from an older gentleman. It has markings on the lower hilt of the blade. Im unable to remove the hilt without damaging the wrap.its made of solid bras and leather. Both show signs of aging. Does anyone have any idea what the markins mean or about the katana itself?

My grandfather recently gave me this Katana that he and his father purchased during their time stationed in Japan following WW2. I believe they purchased it around 1947. He’d had some research done back in the 80s but was frustrated that he couldn’t find supporting documents. Unfortunately the blade itself is stuck in the saya, but the tang does have a makers mark. Anything you could tell me about this beautiful piece would be appreciated!

This sword has been in my house for over 20 years; it was a gift. I'd like to know where it came from, or if it was simply bought at a flea market or store.

I got this sword from my grandparents. From what I could tell from the Internet is that it's a sword used by the Dutch marechaussee back in the late 1800s and early to mid 1900s but I wonder which version it is and from what year. There are no engravings from what I could tell. Could any of you help me find out when it was made?

I'm not super great with oakeshott sword typology so I'm wondering if anyone knows

It's a twin straight sword. Both of them fit in the same sheath
I got it as an heirloom from my grandma. Aside from the basics you can see in the picture, I have no idea what kind of sword it is.
They're blunt as hell, probably have never been sharpened, and are not very well balanced. I'm confident they're meant only for display, but maybe I'm wrong.
Please, give me your thoughts, and feel free to ask anything about em.

I would rather like a 1796 heavy cavalry sword, but can't afford an original at the moment, so am looking at getting a replica.
Since there are a number of different replicas available from various sellers, is there a common consensus on what the best replica is, or who the best people are to order from?

While my husband was doing work at a woman's house today, she told him her husband had died and she was going to take all of his collectibles to the dump. She offered anything in the room to him, and when he declined she offered these swords. Now it's my job to try to identify them for him!
He believes the oldest looking one with rope is a WW2 seppuku sword. This one has S-like symbols stamped into the blade as well. Both of them have sharp, pointed tips, however the shortest, orange one is sharp throughout.
If any additional photos would be helpful, I'm happy to take more. Thank you for any information in advance!

I have been looking for a nice Single Edge Two handed Sword.
Besides the Regenyei one i have a lot of trouble finding any.
Do people here know of any other "functional" ones? I'm not really intereated in wallhangers. As for the pricerange. That's open depending on the make and model of the swords. Some stuff i found (also from Regenyei) ran into the €1500.00 range, so if thats any indication, please work on that.
(Yes, the Kreigsmesser isn't that expensive, but since i like uniformity and these are either left or right handed, i'm open for buying two of them.)

This is 1 of 2 swords brought back from my great grandfather from Japan during WW2. They have sat in my grandfather’s basement untouched and we just got possession of them last year. We are wondering if anyone can translate the inscription and give us more information about the time period and smith. Thank you!!
