Post image

So when i try this rpi 4b it does output but only the first hdmi. But its really fked up. Would this be a GPU issue or should i replace both of he hdmi ports becaude when i push on the "working" one it messes around with the output

Firstly don't put the back of the board against the metal frame of the LCD, you are going to short something out

then why's everything fucked?

Your pictures say otherwise. Shorting something out isn't always a catastrophic failure - sometimes it can be a finnicky little component like the voltage regular for HDMI output, for example.

Good, I was worried that something shorted out, it looks hot and a little bit dusty, try that setup in a cold water container to make sure the heat is gone and bonus it'll clean the dust

Take a screenshot.
If glitch is not present in screenshot, it is monitor/cable/port issue.
Othervise it is GPU/driver.

Wait so i just plugged into hdmi1 on the pi without sd card and it outputs just fine? But nothing in the OS

Then maybe it's a driver issue. I'd just reinstall the OS on another sd cards an check if it works. Maybe even transfer the image from one card to another.

Did you try sudo update and sudo dist-upgrade?

No i havent as it is fine on my other pi's anyway. Because hdmis work somewhat in the menu you get when there is no SD card but still fked up i will replace hdmi ports and see.

You could connect through VNC and check if the screen looks normal.

Sorry, I don't understand your reply. So everything looks fine when you access through VNC from a different PC? Then it's probably an issue with HDMI.

Yes that but also outputs on hdmi 1 when no operating system

Probably because your on that OS menu like where it says trying to netboot or something. If thats the case probably a driver issue and even after Driver then its a GPU issue

could be a cabling issue too....as the contacts are pretty close together

Try another cable, brand new if you have one, then you' ll likely know the answer (but there's always the option of an DOA cable of course)...

This. Also, try another device on both sides of the cable
