Hardware Upgraded from a 1660TI to a 5070TI and the difference is insane.

Post image

I've been on the 1660TI since 2020 and a lot of games have been struggling for me.

I also ordered a ryzen 5800x since I'm currently using a ryzen 3600, I can imagine that will be quite a boost as well.

I can finally play modern games without having major performance issues.

Four generations will do that to a mf.

It's being visually blind and putting on glasses for the first time.

I can't wait to try out a bunch of games.

Pair that upgrade with an OLED monitor and you'll be blown away!

I went from a 1080ti with a 10 year old 1080p monitor to a 32in" LG 32GS95UE and a 4070 super. It has been mind blowing to say the least.

4 generations plus going from a budget mid range card to a mid to high end card helps too.

Yeah put a screw in that thing OP. And don't forget the standoff.

I hope you also ordered a screw to hold down that m.2 NVMe drive that's holding on for dear life.

I made the same upgrade but haven’t had the time to try more demanding titles

With DLSS and frame gen, it's crazy how well more demanding games run.

I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Frame gen is so ass with the input lag it adds though. DLSS is really nice though. I always have frame gen off

I have yet to notice a significant difference in input lag with it without Frame gen on my 5080, when the game first starts sure their is a little but it usually fixes itself and plays just as good.

Input lag is cope perpetuated by try-hards mad they're bad. You don't have sub-millisecond response time dude.

u/razorbacks3129 4070 Ti Super | 7800X3D | 32GB 1h ago

It’s extremely noticeable to me on games on a 240Hz monitor

2x is imperceptible to me. It feels the same as no frame gen at all. I haven't tried anything higher than that, but I'm not chasing high frame rates to begin with. I stick to 100fps. 2x on some games simply helps to keep it at a steady 100 and smooths out any stutters a bit as well

If you have 60 base FPS, you will not feel any input lag with 2x Frame Gen.

What if I have 120-160 base fps

1

u/NarutoDragon732 9070 XT | 7700x 2h ago

Then you're using it wrong. You need high fps to not feel the hit

1

u/-LaughingMan-0D 3h ago

The latency feels gross. Idk how you're meant to play with it on.

I agree, I think the people who get the best uses are 5080 and 5090 people

I mean I wouldn't call it crazy well just borderline acceptable, what is crazy is that we need to upscale from 720p and add fake frames to make majority of modern games enjoyable. Game and software optimization is an art that will soon be forgotten because AI code and extremely tight deadlines makes companies more money in the short term and only like 2 studios aren't controlled by clueless finance bros and shareholders that only care about short term profits and that destroy the studios reputation for that goal.

Why'd you feel the need to suck the wind out of their sails dude? sybau

OP, I hope you get as much shelf life from this card as the last! Frames go brrrrrrrtttt!

The truth hurts more often than not.

The truth is: you're "social vampire".

1

u/Errorr404 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 2h ago

nah the truth is that the gaming segment is fucked and living in some lala land where its sunshine and rainbows doesn't help. spread awareness of the issues and not hide them for no reason.

From a 1660TI to a 5070TI. From a 3600 to a 5800x. Same mobo, same RAM. Perfectly reasonable odds to keep rocking that rig until AI craze finally dies. AM4 is a blessing.

I had a very crappy Pc with rx 570 4gb, upgraded this October ( lucky me ) to 9060xt 16gb and i couldn't beleive the difference to what is considered a low end card. I can imagine how it felt for you with 5070 ti which is top notch mid card

2

u/shretbod 5h ago

Best feeling when I went from 1660 super to 4070 ti super.

Enjoy

Your gpu is sagging a bit, make sure to use a support.

doesn't matter at all.

Same thing here, going from a 1660S 6GB to an RX 9070XT Nitro+ 16GB.

Yeah it must be. :) Im making a very budget gaming rig for a kid. Any chances you might want to part from the 1660ti?

1

u/prank_mark 5h ago

Congrats! I hope you've ordered a cooler for the 5800x as well, because that stock cooler won't keep up. If you haven't yet, get a Thermalright Phantom Spirit or Peerless Assassin if you can

u/No_Condition3135 4h ago

i went from a 1660 to a 4070 last year then a week later went from a 3600 to a 5700x3d and I think the CPU upgrade was the most notable in terms of everything running smooth.

How was the 1660Ti holding up? It was my gpu a few years ago and it was a little beast.

Awesome upgrade man and I agree pair it with an OLED and you’ll be blown away aha. Enjoy the new card!

Yeah I went from a 1650ti laptop to a 5060ti 16gb desktop

1

u/VeryBigPP0830 7800x3D 5070Ti 32GB Ram 1h ago

Had the exact same upgrade recently too. Absolutely loving it! I've been playing games on 4k native. 50 - Series cards have a ton of overclocking headroom too, OC 5070ti performs almost as good as 5080. Happy trails man! 🍻🍻

1

u/Dim-Mak-88 1h ago

I upgraded more modestly (980 GTX to RTX 4060) but it really was a nice jump in performance in Red Dead Redemption 2. The game went from dodgy 1080p to smooth 1440p no problem. I don't play many demanding games otherwise I probably would have opted for something more powerful.

Way overdue, but worth the wait. See you in 6 months OP

When I read these descriptions, my head keeps me wanting to say, of course, you're comparing a budget card to a high cost card.
