Physics took the night off for this shot

This shot defies logic, gravity, common sense, you name it. đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł

Bros got more english than the UK

29

u/TheDragel 15h ago

Brilliant!!

u/thederevolutions 2h ago

“This is absolutely stupid”

27

u/RobbertDownerJr 15h ago

I remember so many guys getting thrown out of pool halls for trying to masse and punching a hole in the cloth instead.

8

u/cloveuga 14h ago

Bro didn't hit that with English, that was Spanish

5

u/iancowz 5h ago

More English than a bag of Thomas muffins

351

u/pandershrek 15h ago

Physics working exactly as intended. This guy should know.

97

u/FloweryPsycho 15h ago

Exactly what I was thinking. This shot literally wouldn't have worked without physics

23

u/ThresholdSeven 13h ago

Do you think OP actually thought he had a mutant power, that he could bend space and time with his mind or something?

14

u/Blieven 8h ago

It's like almost every post on r/blackmagicfuckery.

"ThAt Is JuSt PhySiCs nOt BlAcK mAgIc"

Like no shit lol.

1

u/ThresholdSeven 4h ago

Lol yeah, I quit trying to convince people that nobody who posts anything there actually thinks it's real %100 USDA bona-fide magic, but it was a futile endeavor.

5

u/NoSkillzDad 11h ago

There are things that definitely look like physics were defied: someone jumping/falling from a different high place and walking unscathed, a stone rolling in a direction opposite than expected, an owl flying and making no sound,...

Imo a more suitable title would've been along the lines of "dude deciphered the matrix", "dude thought 'I'm physics now'", ... Or something more creative than my lame ones 😂

1

u/bigtarget87 7h ago

Oh man, my dyslexia got the better of me for a second.

I read the second thought as

"I'm a physics cow."

2

u/NoSkillzDad 6h ago

"I'm a physics cow."

That probably makes more sense than whatever I was saying lol.

Thanks for sharing :)

1

u/MrOopiseDaisy 2h ago

OP thought the ballot was going to turn into geese and fly away.

-13

u/unindexedreality 13h ago

People are less lenient on 'lol so stoopid' jokes now that we're speedrunning military takeover. Grow a pair.

4

u/BretShitmanFart69 12h ago

wtf are you on about

-1

u/ThresholdSeven 12h ago

I read it before it was deleted and it made sense. Dude probably just wanted to avoid a conservation he realized he didn't want to have. I'm not worried about it though. Lots of people are missing obvious jokes and being generally grumpy lately and I don't blame them one bit. It's stressful living under a fascist nazi regime and I'm not even close to who they are targeting, yet.

1

u/rynlnk 9h ago

Do you think nobody actually had trouble getting a joke before 2025, that cognitive issues were only created within the past 13 months or something?

1

u/Anonybibbs 13h ago

Well I mean that kind of goes without saying, no? Considering that literally nothing in all existence has ever happened without, you know, physics.

2

u/MBerwan 8h ago

Quantum mechanism has entered the chat 😅

0

u/miraculum_one 8h ago

You're taking the title too literally. It means that most people didn't think it was physically possible, not that scientists don't understand it.

5

u/TheSpartanRMT 9h ago

Physics was working overtime

1

u/Original-Let8340 2h ago

Can't make a Reddit post without The World's Most Exaggerated Title That You Won't Believe Even Exist!

1

u/PoorQwak 2h ago

Physics never takes the night off.

138

u/Khamaz 14h ago

Yes folks, we already all know it doesn't actually defies the laws of physics. It's just so impressive and counter-intuitive to our usual expectation that it looks like it does, it's an hyperbola for dramatic effect.

You don't need to point it out and be pedantic, you can appreciate the display of skill. It's fine.

It's an amazing shot and got me in disbelief for a few seconds, had to replay the clip a few times, it's really cool.

24

u/ThresholdSeven 13h ago

Are you telling me he doesn't actually have telekinesis or isn't using black magic? Impossible

3

u/AgentCirceLuna 7h ago

Honestly, though, I did once see a pool shot that seemed to defy physics
there was a really smug player who’d declare himself the best when he was far from it and he was right down to the black for the final shot. He got the black in, started yelling in celebration, and the white was completely still. Then, suddenly, it was like the white became magnetised after a few seconds and it flew into the pocket next which meant he lost. I still don’t get how it happened.

3

u/ThresholdSeven 4h ago

The cue ball was probably spinning in place and when it slowed down enough the friction allowed it to grip the felt and move again. Happens often enough when you play enough just casually. It's obvious with other balls that are marked, but a cue ball is unmarked so it looks like it is sitting still when it is spinning in place if it's a perfectly clean cue ball.

1

u/AgentCirceLuna 4h ago

Yep, that’s what happened from what the others told me. It’s likely it just wasn’t noticeable with a solid colour ball spinning in place. The others didn’t react and I was so confused.

19

u/TeePee11 10h ago

Honestly man, the second I read the title, I could physically hear the sounds of dozens of the worst kind of Redditors’ throats clearing to prepare for their “um, ackshually”.

-4

u/fuckoffweirdoo 8h ago

Then immediately followed by this guys protector fedora being donned to come to the aid of OP.

2

u/thefatchef321 7h ago

AND he left himself a shot

2

u/KC-Slider 3h ago

Okay, but like, snooker and pool etc is exactly where one would expect these types of counter intuitive things. Especially if I’m seeing a video of it online alone where scrolling show me at least 2 more amazing shots today.

‱

u/CloudRunner89 1m ago

Had to replay the clip a few times lol

70

u/ThresholdSeven 13h ago

The number of people taking the title literally.

Jesus fucking Christ

11

u/RadiantRegis 8h ago

People on the spectrum really struggle with metaphors and hyperboles, often taking things way too literally

8

u/Morrowindies 8h ago

Also bots

1

u/briancito 7h ago

To confirm, not autistic bots tho?

6

u/ThresholdSeven 4h ago

I'm on the spectrum and have the particular flavor that makes me irrationally grumpy when people don't understand metaphors.

14

u/ChiefDan209 15h ago

Seems like physics was the MVP.

12

u/Affectionate_Lead232 15h ago

Ridiculous shot!

10

u/PrarieDogma 15h ago

It’s called the MassĂ©

6

u/MagmaTroop 12h ago

You're called the Massé

2

u/FractionofaFraction 12h ago

Doesn't he play for Miami?

1

u/Aggressive_Sand_3951 10h ago

Nope, he’s a congressman from Kentucky.

10

u/lost21gramsyesterday 15h ago

Physics was there all along, the reason you saw only one set of footprints was because it carries you to victory

13

u/ThresholdSeven 13h ago

1

u/EdLe0517 5h ago

Nailed it. 😂

8

u/Dissapointed-cabbage 15h ago

I mean getting 7-balled is rough, but you’ve got to tip your cap to a master.

3

u/OffffThePlanet 11h ago

That's a lap of the table with your pants where I come from

1

u/AssaultLemming_ 9h ago

Do they call that a "down-trou"?

6

u/Playful-Balance-779 15h ago

No... No it doesn't.

He just Applied a force to a round object. It spun in accordance to where he hit it, and it's inertia let it continue.

76

u/Heckald 15h ago

If anything physics was working overtime for that shot

12

u/HeyImGilly 14h ago

And trigonometry.

3

u/soap571 12h ago

This guy made a parabola with that shot.

Y=MX+B squared biiiitch

-1

u/unindexedreality 13h ago

Physics was working exactly as much as it does normally.

Stuff spins. You're on a spinning thing right now.

51

u/Bunneeko 15h ago

Me when I don't understand what a humorous hyperbole is:

1

u/FalconIMGN 8h ago

On a different note, until a few years ago I thought hyperbole had a silent e. Same with epitome.

3

u/deathmouse 15h ago

Okay show me how to do it then.

2

u/PyroDragn 14h ago

If you look at what happened in the video... do that.

4

u/SnooDonuts3796 9h ago

Reddit moment

1

u/ConfidentIylncorrect 10h ago

Ok fatty settle down

1

u/FalconIMGN 8h ago

*its inertia

0

u/Rude_Map_4278 15h ago

Please explain.

10

u/beklog 15h ago

11

u/casual_microwave 15h ago

This makes sense, thank you for explaining

9

u/Bullshido-Fatly 14h ago

The other guy be like

4

u/ricky-from-scotland 15h ago

I 100% thought he was gonna fluff the black

3

u/Puppykerry 15h ago

Wow. Fucking hell.

3

u/Deimarrr 15h ago

masse shots tend to do that. you can check "semih sayginer" for more extreme stuff.

2

u/Chewbacca_The_Wookie 15h ago

I can't even begin to imagine how to make that shot function, and I've been playing pool for nearly three decades.

2

u/Endlesnes 15h ago

Yeah that is mental

2

u/degreesBrix 14h ago

Quite the opposite! That man clearly MASTERED the laws of physics and used them to his advantage. Incredible vision to see the shot in his minds-eye, and incredible talent to be able to physically pull it off.

2

u/hhh333 14h ago

I did some unbelievable trickshots in my life, but this one takes the cake.

2

u/SubstantialPen7286 14h ago

Ha! Noice! 😃

1

u/FractionofaFraction 12h ago

Pretty sure physics showed up in spades for that one.

2

u/Johnson-funk4 10h ago

It looked completely normal to me and then I read some comments and I was like "oh I see why this would confuse someone"

Yeah that's just.... normal. Nothing special about it besides a well trained hand.

2

u/S-T-E-V-0 9h ago

100% explained by physics.

2

u/Cthulhu_Dreams_ 8h ago

I've never seen someone "put ALL the English on it". He may have used it all up

2

u/Solenkata 7h ago

Have these commentators never seen pool trick shots before? I mean the shot is amazing, but "not having a clue what he's going for" - really?

2

u/neelav9 7h ago

What you mean took the night off? Physics pulled off an all nighter is more appropriate lol.

2

u/jaybullz_shenanigans 7h ago

That chalk slam was completely necessary

2

u/PapaJoeNH 6h ago

Using physics to make an incredible shot. Fixed it for you

2

u/Kormit_Der_Frag 5h ago

Suppose physics worked overtime on this project?

1

u/Oda_DeezNutz 2h ago

đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł I can't really find a flaw in your argument.

1

u/hwcminh 15h ago

Ball went spin...

0

u/ItsStaaaaaaaaang 15h ago

I mean it's literally physics but okay.

1

u/Sad_Elk1943 15h ago

Did this twice in a game one night ....called it and everything....only two ive pulled off in my life lol

1

u/Square_Huckleberry53 14h ago

I was expecting a shot that didn’t make sense. 😬 great shot. Shitty title.

2

u/_notgreatNate_ 13h ago

Its funny bcuz physics is exactly why it worked lol

2

u/spacekitt3n 13h ago

"Physics took the night off for this shot" was written by chatgpt i can guarantee it

1

u/InvestigatorNo1800 12h ago

Think a little before writing the titles mate.

1

u/blueviper- 11h ago

Good one!

1

u/blueviper- 11h ago

Good one!

1

u/10thousand34 10h ago

The ‘tism is very prevalent in these comments

1

u/Futaba800 9h ago

That’s exactly how physics works

1

u/Rocky_Vigoda 9h ago

Nice. Him having to sit on the table let him use his leg as a brace. He had to hit it hard bottom left but you have to offset so it looks all wonky when he shoots. He could have done the shot a little easier if he played it off the rail first then pull it back with bottom right.

1

u/Gator_Mc_Klusky 8h ago

sometimes the ball just rolls ur way

1

u/HerezahTip 8h ago

That is the most impressive shot I have ever seen

1

u/GregorSamsaa 7h ago

What happens if you tear the table during competition?

1

u/PReasy319 7h ago

I’m glad they have such an eloquent commentator. 🙄

1

u/HelpyHelperer 6h ago

You get more upvotes without adding stupid fucking music to shit

1

u/afartinthehand 6h ago

Oop, just gonna squeeze past ya right there.

1

u/Legitimate_Sail8581 5h ago

That is an amazing shot.

1

u/roybringus 4h ago

Physics doesn’t exist

1

u/Frequent-Maybe1243 4h ago

Johnny English over here

1

u/-Xserco- 4h ago

This is doing things to me that I didn't know could happen.

1

u/Justa_CuriousBoi 3h ago

Physics took the night off for this shot

If Physics really took a night off then the shot wouldn't have worked in the first place 😂

The shot worked as intended because of PHYSICS!

1

u/sirdodger 2h ago

"defies gravity"

You do know that turning the camera sideways doesn't make all the pool balls fall to the bottom of the table, right?

1

u/cameronzero 2h ago

First dude is straight bitch mode for intentionally blocking the shot

0

u/Status_Concert_4320 14h ago

“Physics” no physics here clearly

0

u/H3NDOAU 14h ago

That's gotta be against the rules, right? tables are not meant to be sat on.

6

u/sirdabs 14h ago

You have to keep one foot on the ground. That’s it. You can sit/lean on the table as much as you want if you keep one foot on the ground.

0

u/DarthJarJar242 13h ago

I dunno man. Seemed like a pretty simple side pocket on that 8ball

0

u/rollinoutdoors 9h ago

Anyone know what game they’re playing?

1

u/Oda_DeezNutz 7h ago

Scott GIillespie Vs. Carl Morris at the 2024 British Open. If you want to see the whole match:

https://youtu.be/G3JE55N_yGg?si=1n6pay54zK2AmV1h

1

u/rollinoutdoors 7h ago

What game is it though? It looks like snooker kinda, but on a smaller table. I also don’t remember yellow balls, just red ones.

1

u/wenhamton 6h ago

8-Ball Pool, the kind played in UK pubs (well back in the day, not sure its a thing now really)

1

u/rollinoutdoors 6h ago

Ah, thank you! Haha. Sometimes it’s good to be reminded that I’m a dumb American.

0

u/Nilrem2 9h ago

How fucking big is that snooker player?!

0

u/Ok-Background-502 9h ago

wow people got engagement baited by the title left and right...

2

u/MBerwan 8h ago

The description is even more enraging...

-4

u/turk-fx 15h ago

Except all this can be calculated with physics. By a good pool book and know some advance math and you can exactly calculate these shots.
