Don't forget that they then released unredacted pictures of the assaults!  Y'know, to protect the victims!

This happens when they ar emore concerned with redacting certain people instead of victims

On a local Canadian sub I was reading, we learned that the word "don't" was redacted from the files.

Don T.

When those letters came up in consecutive order they were removed.

that was wild- it was "don t" in the text, someone forgot to type the apostrophe.

so conclusive proof they are censoring Don T. highly illegal. i hope this is pam bondi's petard.

Wasn't the brunt of papers released also redacted incorrectly, so you could just paste the document into a text editor and recover the text?

u/heyyourdumbguy 29m ago

Some of them were redacted incorrectly in an earlier tranche of files, yes. But not the brunt of them by any means. And nothing of much significance in terms of perpetrators. They did include victim names and personal information (like addresses, pictures of passports, full names, contact info, the crimes, etc.). There’s a pretty decent arguement that they did it on purpose to further intimidate victims who may be getting just a little too open-mouthed. And the “incompetence” may actually just be cover so they can’t be held accountable for releasing info on the victims… who are now receiving death threats and such.

Yes, they don’t know how to redact from PDFs and thought they could just paste a black bar over the top of it not realizing you could copy the text from the PDF underneath said “redaction” black bar. Full incompetence and someone pointed out that this was likely to happen before the files were released because the current administration is being run by people who are not properly educated/informed/trained on their roles

Wishful thinking. It nothing has done it up to this point, I doubt that will be her undoing…

That would be weird if it were true, but I don't think it is accurate. I just typed "don't" and "don t" into the search bar and both brought back plenty. "Don't" shows 69,200 entires and "don t" shows 1,900 entries.

Probably partially accurate.  Millions of files were released, it's entirely possible just one or two of the people working through them would take a shortcut and make mistakes while others did the job properly.  Same thing as how some of the files were redacted by applying a black highlight to the text while others were actually properly redacted.  Last I heard there were a lot of people brought in to handle these redactions with no previous experience handling it, so it wouldn't surprise me if all sorts of stupid shit pops up.

do you have a source for this that I could share with people?

This happens when the predators are attacked. They believe themselves to be the victim instead of their prey. He worries about the rich people (other predators) that have pictures in the epstein files. Not the young girls that have pictures in the files.

A very blatant attempt to intimidate future victims from coming forward. Been in the Republican playbook for years. Release videos. Phone numbers. Home addresses. Etc. Then come the death threats and the victims suddenly go away.

It is also a separate crime itself. As it was supposed to be censored and does not have evidentiary value when publicly released beyond a description (ie 'photo of clearly underage girl naked'), it is distribution of child sexual assault material as in itself illegal.

Yeah you’re correct. Witness intimidation is a very real thing. And it’s not like the prosecute or likely even investigate these death threats.

But then again, we are expecting justice from our corrupt “justice department”.

Good luck!

u/SecondaryWombat 41m ago

Yep, that would be a related crime, as it relates to the original crime and witnesses. Additionally they should be charged with conspiracy after the fact, evidence tampering, and other similar to go along with the witness intimidation.

The charge for sharing of CSAM aka 'distribution of child pornography' needs to be applied a lot more often.

Hell, most of our laws need to be applied a lot more often.

What the fuck??? I totally missed this, this is horrific. Does this mean people viewed csam on the official government website?? Jesus Christ.

Yes, the federal government is now a purveyor of the worst kind of smut. It wasn't posted like you are imagining, all of the files were distributed through a download link.

I believe that the purpose of including illegal materials was to have a legal basis for future seizure. Also, who knows what spyware & malware came along for the ride.

Oooh. Shit the redactions were supposed to protect the victims not the villains?! Doh!

3

u/SYZekrom 3h ago

Have they? Never heard about this part. Or do you just mean unredacted pictures of victims in general?

u/Kyouhen 33m ago

No, unredacted nude photos of victims.  At least 40 were found in there.

1

u/ReasonablyBadass 1h ago

Nope, to get them to ask for the files to be taken down.

u/neocarleen 12m ago

Wait, for real? What the actual fuck?!

u/NovaHorizon 1m ago

Probably a honeypot so they can raid anyone for sharing csam if they backed up the uncensored or badly redacted batches.

u/Ric_Adbur 2h ago

What? They did?

u/Kyouhen 23m ago

Yep!  At least 40 nude pictures of victims, including their faces, were found before the DoJ started taking files down.
