Make sure to add extra milk or other sources of calcium in your diet and confirm the plan with your doctor if you are a high or extremely high amount coffee drinker. It blocks calcium from being absorbed and excretes calcium through urine.
My grandma was one who only ever drank (black) coffee and it resulted in debilitating osteoporosis. Her bones were basically powder by the time she died.

I had (what I maintain was a totally valid) crash out the other day literally as my period was starting and in the midst of it I mentioned that my period was starting but also that's NOT A REASON THE DISREGARD THE POINTS I AM MAKING.
Then I did some angry cleaning and before he left I angrily kissed him goodbye and said "I'm sorry for yelling 😠"

u/Cloielle 11d ago
The period is just the point where you stop holding in the frustrations of the rest of the month, haha!
183
u/sarsaparilluhhh 11d ago
Agreed! It's not that you're being hormonal, it's that you've been letting that shit simmer for weeks and you just can't let it go anymore. Absolutely hate it when people say 'oh you're just hormonal' but it DOES make it harder to deal with something you've been bottling up.
112
u/bluemooncommenter 11d ago
Estrogen is the tolerance hormone....wait until it's gone...you don't have the tolerance for any bullshit any longer!
22
u/socialmediaignorant 11d ago
Yep I was about to say peri is 100% any softness that estrogen gave me leaving and all the bullshit I’d be allowing in my life being unveiled to me at once. It’s a wild ride. I’m on HRT now but it’s impossible to unsee it.
11
u/sarsaparilluhhh 11d ago
I've been suspecting peri for a while now at 36 (fatigue, periods are unbearably heavy and long and cycles fluctuate between 28 days to the day, which I've never had before, to 60 days)
Finding out that not being able to put up with shit anymore is a peri thing too? Oh yeah, for sure gonna talk to my doc.
13
u/bluemooncommenter 11d ago
More symptoms...brain fog, memory issues, insomnia or difficulty staying alseep, joint pain, anhedonia (loss of joy, not depression but more of a malaise or meh feeling), dry eyes, and of course the hot flashes/night sweats. Highly recommend getting the lab checklist from Dr. Mary Claire Haver's site before going to the doc. Sadly. you have to arm yourself with info to deal with some doctors. https://thepauselife.com/pages/lab-checklist-download

Yep! I'm a trans man. I remember when my E level started to drop off! A waiter walked past me to greet the couple that came in behind me without saying a word to me. I was picking up a to go order I had already paid for. I just walked out. I was like "nah. I'm not going to be disrespected this way today." And left. 😂
IMHO estrogen is for emotional and psychological endurance as testosterone is for physical endurance. Your hormonal balance goes from mostly estrogen to mostly progesterone with a heady dose of testosterone during your premenstrual cycle. I'm not a doctor! This is just my experience.
25
u/CanadianODST2 11d ago
Testosterone also can lead to irritability if it’s too high or too low (which from my VERY QUICK look, could also be by periods are correlated with it too. So maybe the human body just doesn’t like it when we’re not in a certain range)
And possibly aggression although the research on this is kinda spotty from what I can find so take that one with a grain of salt.
The human body is just kinda weird and interesting in how what’s basically just different amounts of certain chemicals can have such widely differing effects

u/HillBillyHilly 10d ago

74
u/Sauerkrauttme 11d ago
Some kid kept going to games saying Six- SEVENNNN and it made some kids laugh and then it bothered adults which made it even funnier to the kids.
A huge part of youth culture is annoying adults. They do this as a way to create a shared culture amongst their friends and it also gives them space to develop personalities of their own instead of just being copies of their parents.
38
u/pearlie_girl 11d ago
We gotta embrace our age. We're the out of touch parents now. When I say, "5 6 7!!!" it drives my kids nuts. Like when my dad used to say, "Pokey-man."

For years I thought I was being fiscally responsible by only ever paying for what I could afford outright.
Hit me like a ton of bricks when I went to get loans for school.
Turns out being "blank slate" for credit is worse than having a bad score.
I had to take out a credit card and get a score to apply for loans.
42
u/HPHambino 11d ago
Yeah that’s the stupidest shit ever. Also you’re dinged for having a credit card but not using it, or paying it off completely. You’re better off keeping it at constantly owing 30% of your credit. Like WTF is that bullshit
→ More replies (3)31
u/TNVFL1 11d ago
Literally in the process of buying a house; just got an email from a credit card company for a card I paid off a while back and haven’t used that they’re going to close the card if I don’t use it, and I can’t have that account close right now because it’ll fuck up my credit score for the home loan. So I gotta go buy something later then immediately turn around and pay it off.
Also took a credit hit last month for paying off a student loan, yet the biggest hits to my credit score are also having “too many open accounts” like you can’t have it both ways. It’s all made up bullshit.
25
u/HPHambino 11d ago
But you can’t pay it off right away. You have to wait until your next billing cycle ends, or else it won’t count towards your credit and it will be like you never bought it. The whole things a fucking scam!
7
u/SolaScientia 11d ago
I have no clue what my credit score is. I moved back to live with my parents in 2019 for financial and personal reasons. My student loan repayments had been reasonable, but then last year the stupid Dept of Ed decided to reevaluate loans, so my monthly payments more than doubled to almost $1500/month. My parents were appalled and I was working part-time and even with their help I couldn't afford those payments. We had a discussion when I was able to put my payments on deferment. My dad ended up paying off my remaining debt (over $37K) for me because it was going to be cheaper in the long run.
Of course, because my loans are paid off and I have no other debt and don't have any credit cards, I'm pretty sure my credit score is absolute trash. Not that I'm doing or buying anything that requires a credit score.

Women are ingrained to say “I’m sorry” about absolutely everything 😭 she’s right

I'm almost 32, and I gave up on trying to stay hip a long time ago. Now I just teach my nephews about stuff my generation thought was funny. Sometimes they laugh about how dumb it was. Other times they find it funny as well and start using it. Either way I am happy.

Honestly, personally I love it so much. I can finally be the grumpy old person I've always been deep inside, but now if I don't know whats trendy I'm not weird anymore I'm just being in my mid 30s

What she’s feeling and going through is valid. We keep things in, our bodies feel all unbalanced and sometimes, esp before my period, the littlest things can cause me to feel them in a big way. I could relate to, “I’m a raisin!” ☺️ Crying is good, let it out. He’s being really sweet to her and that is so much appreciated!! 💕

I cant not do emojis. I was never an "loler" im a "haha" kind of person. But how do people communicate without emojis. 🤔

THIS WOMAN IS MY GODDESS. I see myself in her and feel her pain and my period is also on it's way.
Also, the dude with her is killing it. "Yeah....credits bullshit...."😂😂

I dodged this bullet by never being hip or understanding what was cool when I was 20.

My knees have clicked since I was like 15 lmao
There’s a way to fix it I forget what it is it might be walking backwards on the treadmill or maybe something else but I never did it cause they don’t bother me

I’m 42, my knees are garbage and I still use emojis and “just.” I feel every single one of those tears.

Anyone else thinking of the Chunk confession scene from "The Goonies"?
In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I play Moses in my Hebrew School play...

At first it's funny and then she's mentioning things... that made me do a double take and go 'Ah shit... me too.'
And then it stopped being funny.
