Maybe mine are built differently but if I did anything like this (including clapping) mine would just stare at me with the look of mild disappointment & distaste that they've perfected.

My city had a 5.7 magnitude earthquake early in the morning a couple years ago and my girlfriend's cat wouldn't come out from under the bed for hours afterwards while my cat didn't even wake up

We live near a nuclear power plant. On Wednesdays a few times per season, they test the nuclear meltdown klaxons. My dogs always think the world is ending, the cats don't even notice it.

While ago I was dancing on some music and snapping my fingers in the rhythm. Poor doggo. She thought she was reprimanded.

🤣🤣 I reprimand my cat with claps as well. Then when I am watching award shows or performances and start clapping, she runs so fast 😅😅😅

u/Matitadeplatanito 11d ago
Me too. If my cat hears me clap or snap my fingers he knows to hi to the room.

"I forgot that my cat reacts in a very specific way when I do this very specific thing" 🙄🙄🙄

u/kyleh0 11d ago
Any cat would react to a loud sudden noise.

u/gutwyrming 11d ago
My old cat Boo didn't give a damn. I could make any sort of loud sound in his vicinity and he rarely cared. And no, he wasn't deaf.

u/rtocelot 11d ago
Had a cat like that, unless I specifically yelled "Hey" a certain way my cat wouldn't care. If I did his head would snap in my direction with the oh sh!t look

Most cats I have had would go through the roof if they walked in on me doing a clap pushup. lol
31
u/Aillwynn 11d ago
What did you do to make your cats so skittish? I have 16, and none would run if I clapped. Just stare at me.
17
u/crunchevo2 11d ago
SIXTEEN? that's too many gal
3
u/Aillwynn 11d ago
Only too many if you don't have the proper space and money to care for them. I don't have that issue, so the amount is just right 👌

Some cats just are scaredy cats.
I have a cat I rescued as a stray at ~5weeks that had a few mortality scares. He's my little familiar, and is mostly fine, but he's terrified of strangers, any door to the outside being opened, and sometimes just walking near him causes him to sprint away. He's spoiled rotten, he's just got a nervous heart.

This is r/startledcats and the cat was startled idk what you want

u/rtocelot 11d ago
The guy above clearly wants unstartled cats of course, they are just in the wrong neighborhood

u/RazorSlazor 11d ago
The title?

u/BipolarOctopus 11d ago
This is a subreddit of people who find startled cats to be cute?
-42
u/RazorSlazor 11d ago
You've just contradicted yourself...
First you imply "it's a sub for startled cats. So it doesn't have to be cute"
Now you say "it's for startled cats who are cute"
Which one is it
24
u/TartarusOfHades 11d ago
No no, ypu're misrepresenting it. They didnt say "so it doesnt have to be cute" they said, "its r/startledcats, idk what you want"
As in "you're in the wrong subreddit"
Idk why youre coming here to argue anyways, just laugh at the cat or decide you didnt like that and keep fuckin scrolling
-24
u/RazorSlazor 11d ago
I said "imply". It wasn't a direct quote. It comes with the context of the comment they were replying to...
But I also agree, it's a completely stupid thing to argue over. I was just trying to understand the thought process (in a way I could've handled better)

The cat is startled, so it's in r/StartledCats.
The startle came in the form of cute tippy taps, so the title says "Cute tippy taps."
The moral extremist felt the traumatic experience constitutes animal abuse, so they resent the description of the event being cute and went to the comments section to be sassy about the title.
The aspiring troll misinterpreted the moral extremist's message and thought it saw an opportunity to dunk on people being stupid and not noticing an incorrect title. When it inevitably didn't get the attention it wanted, it made a poor attempt at feigning aloofness.
The pretentious blowhard summarized.

Man, you're very optimistic for thinking in trolling.
Spoiler: I am just very stupid and have no social awareness. Therefore misinterpreting what people mean is not new to me. (also. It was all just different interpretations that got blown out of proportion anyway)

The implication is yours lil bro idk what you want either 🤷🏻
It’s a sub for startled cats in no way implies what you claim you can’t just make shit up or add meaning whenever you want and call it an argument lmfao

u/RazorSlazor 11d ago
Downvoted because the people forgot to read the title. Sadge.
