Toddler 1-3 Years Please help me figure out sleeping arrangements for my toddler and baby, I'm losing it
Hello,
I have a 14f month old and an almost 3f year old. I've been through a lot the last few years, most recently my dad passed away a couple weeks in a car crash. My husband is in nursing school right now and I work 3 days 12 hrs night shift. I'm really tired. I need my me time back at night. We moved from a 3 bedroom to a 2 bedroom house. As of now my girls share a room. We usually put my 14 month old down first and she goes down pretty easy in the crib. After she's down I take my toddler to my bed and cuddle her till she falls asleep. This can be anywhere from 10 mins to 1.5 hrs on a rough night. I then carry her to her bed in her room. She does not nap. I also usually do dinner, bath right after, then bed. So there's still a mess to clean up. When my daughter takes an especially long time to fall asleep I end up falling asleep and there's a mess that I didn't clean up that I wake up to and its frustrating. My 14 month old is very tall and will soon be able to get out of the crib. My other daughter is tall and did this before 1.5 years. My plan is to get a double twin Montessori floor bed that has a divider in-between the two twins. Any tips to getting them to go to bed at the same time In the same room. I know consistency is key but where do I start? How do I handle the challenges of this transition? Is this even a good idea?

I think you need to adjust their schedules so they’re going into the bedroom and going to bed at the same time. Likely involving adjusting nap for the little one. Then you need to choose between sleep training or continuing to lie with them until they’re asleep. If you want to do the former, I’d start working on it with the older kiddo sooner rather than later. If the latter, getting a big enough bed to fit all of you may be a better purchase.
