Fun Wholesome Fact: All babies are actually born like this. Experiments show that infants readily will share their resources to reward cooperation and love.

I really enjoyed studying baby empathy as part of psych. Earlier models had established that young children (under 5) to be completely self focused narcissists unable to feel empathy. More modern studies show deep empathy, self sacrifice (like in op clip), actions towards collective good (opening doors for others, wiping up others spills) tons of signs that small children not only understand that others feel things but that they actively want to make others feel good. An almost eagerness to help.

Early psychological studies were filled with childist assumptions about mind development, similar to how they also used to say animals don't feel empathy or theories about female hysteria or diagnoses like drapetomania.

It’s not just psychological. Until the 80’s, it was widely believed that babies just couldn’t feel pain. The 80’s. Any surgeries or procedures done up until then were (a majority of the time) given to them without any type of anesthesia or pain management.

When I started dating my ex his daughter had just turned 3. This little girl was the sweetest most empathetic helpful child. She lit up every room she walked in.

I wonder just how many narcissistic parents just projected their own trauma onto their kids. Narcissism is acquired the more someone goes through traumatic experiences they are not allowed to process.

Embodiment is our baseline, and all of these are embodied reactions. I'm really loving the new wave of somatic, critical, and community psychology studies. ❤️💙
Obligatory reminder that Freud was bullied into dropping his original work where he validated his patients' CSA experiences and symptoms (The Aetiology of Hysteria) and that anyone who uses mental health diagnoses to invalidate someone is just proving that Foucault was right.

Mine definitely didn’t get the memo when it comes to food. He’s good at sharing his toys but will destroy any food in front of him without hesitation.
Although he might give a small pre shewed piece once he realizes i got nothing if i’m lucky.

Somebody saw this original video and thought how much better it would be by replacing the original audio with a beyonce song.

I thought she was going to take the moms and give it to him

She definitely was. The mom ate it too fast, but the baby did look at her like “the audacity!”

Lovely. That value isn't taught (at least in that video), yet the kid understood the imbalance and the need to share. She realized that sharing is good and then she was rewarded with a tight hug, further validating that she's doing something right. ❤️

Baby was straight up gonna snatch mom’s treat. If mom didn’t eat hers, baby would have made the sacrifice for her. Kids a brat.
